Kayrakkum, Tajikistan. - August 8, Interfax - The Hizb ut-Tahrir extremist group is a serous threat and it has contacts in several European states, Russian Foreign Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev said after the session of the joint collegium of the Tajik and Russian Interior Ministries on Friday.
"This organization is a serious threat, it has spread its tentacles not only throughout Russia but also throughout Tajikistan, other countries of Central Asia, and it has contacts in the European states," Nurgaliyev said.
Hizb ut-Tahrir has intensively recruited new members, he said.
"This organization has been qualified as extremist by the supreme courts of Russia and Tajikistan. It is necessary to act in a joint effort against this evil, otherwise the consequences could be catastrophic," he said.
"A general plan is needed to work for prevention [of the threat]," he said.
