Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Virgin boss Richard Branson play on the Holocaust to advance case against Israel

Tutu
It is a sign of the corrosiveness of the anti-Zionist agenda that even some of the most admirable and well-regarded of international luminaries feel no compunction these days about using the greatest crime against the Jewish people as a convenient weapon against the Jewish state. Holocaust inversion has now entered the mainstream. No-one, it seems, is immune from its temptations.

Enter former anti-apartheid campaigner, Nobel laureate, and Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu who has used an interview with the liberal-Left Israeli newspaper Haaretz today to make some typically ill considered remarks of his own:

"The lesson that Israel must learn from the Holocaust is that it can never get security through fences, walls and guns,” he was quoted by the paper as saying. "... in South Africa, they tried to get security from the barrel of a gun. They never got it. They got security when the human rights of all were recognized and respected."

Tutu
This is crass even by Tutu’s standards when talking about Israel. But it was nothing compared to the truly disturbing comments made earlier this week by Virgin Atlantic boss and international NGO financier Richard Branson.

Asked to draw on his business and public relations skills to advise Israel on how to improve its image, he said:

"I think it’s something similar to what happened after 9/11. You know after 9/11 the world had enormous sympathy for America, and you know that sympathy was somehow lost. And obviously after the Second World War, the world had enormous sympathy for the Jewish people. Over a number of decades, that sympathy has been lost ... You’ve got a great country, but you’ve just got to hold the hands of your neighbors, and then you’ll get back on top again."

I have remarked on a number of occasions on how submersion in the anti-Zionist agenda leads otherwise reasonable and sane individuals to say things which make them look ridiculous. But “you’ve just got to hold the hands of your neighbours, and then you’ll get back on top again.”? Don’t these people ever think about what they are saying? The mind boggles. Read more here ...

Pastor Rick Warren to address American Islamofascists

Warren
By Rachel Zoll

NEW YORK -- Sayyid Syeed remembers an interfaith event several years ago when a Jewish leader went to embrace him, saw someone snapping a photo, then suddenly pulled back.

"He said to the man, 'Stop,'" Syeed recalled, "'I'll lose my job.'"

Times have changed for the Islamic Society of North America and for Syeed, who leads the group's interfaith outreach. In a sign of growing acceptance of U.S. Muslims, one of the most prominent religious leaders in the country, evangelical pastor Rick Warren, will speak at the Islamic Society's annual convention this weekend. Representatives from the two largest streams of American Judaism, the Reform and Conservative movements, will also be there to highlight their recently formed partnerships with the Muslim group.

"The landscape of religion in America is changing," Syeed said. "America itself has reached a certain level of fulfillment in terms of diversity of faith."

The Islamic Society, an umbrella association for tens of thousands of Muslims, has worked for years to persuade leaders of other faiths to attend its convention, a massive family reunion in its 46th year that draws about 30,000 people. Read more ...

Islamic Society convention lands appearance from Rick Warren

Warren
The Indiana-based Islamic Society of North America will be holding its annual convention -- the largest yearly gathering of Muslims on the continent -- in Washington, D.C. over the Fourth of July weekend.

And while convention leaders are holding out hope that President Barack Obama might make the convention his latest stop in his outreach to the Muslim world, the convention has landed another pretty big fish as a featured speaker.

Purpose-Driven pastor Rick Warren has agreed to appear at the convention and be part of its main session discussing the convention's theme -- "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness." Joining Warren for the session is ISNA President Ingrid Mattson and noted Muslim scholar Hamza Yusuf.

Warren's scheduled visit to the convention follows ISNA leader Sayyid Syeed's appearance last December at Warren's Saddleback Civil Forum on Public Health. Warren was unavailable this week to comment about the appearance.

His involvement with ISNA follows the Muslim organization's attempt to build partnerships with people of other faiths, including the Union of Reform Judaism and the American Baptist Churches. You can read more about all this in my story scheduled for the Sunday edition of The Indianapolis Star.

Jewish fury at visit by Iran leader

Philip Freier
Barney Zwartz | March 18

MELBOURNE Anglican Archbishop Philip Freier is under fire from the Jewish community for hosting a function for former Iranian president Mohammad Khatami while he is in Melbourne this month.

Jewish Community Council of Victoria president John Searle wrote to Dr Freier saying the Jewish community found it inconceivable that the Anglican Church would host "such a man" or even meet him.

He declined an invitation to attend and asked Dr Freier to reconsider.

Mr Searle told The Age that although Mr Khatami, president of Iran from 1997 to 2005, was regarded as a reformist, he was a sponsor of terrorism, a Holocaust denier and leader of a country that has often threatened to "wipe Israel off the map".

"Only last year, this supposed champion of dialogue called Israel 'an old, incurable wound on the body of Islam, a wound that really possesses demonic, stinking, contagious blood'."

Mr Khatami is being brought to Australia by La Trobe University's Centre for Dialogue and will give a public lecture on March 26.

The Jewish Community Council has resigned from the centre's board of advisers in protest.

Dr Freier said he had invited Jewish leaders along with other groups who suffered persecution in Iran - Christians and Baha'is - so they could raise their concerns with Mr Khatami.

He said Anglicans were not unaware of the difficulties for minorities in Iran since the Islamic Revolution in 1979, and he was not an apologist for Mr Khatami, but if people were ready to engage in discussion he wanted to oblige.

He had been asked by La Trobe University to host a meeting, to be held at his home. "President Khatami speaks of dialogue as being foundational, so it's important to be able to speak and listen. He has been the guest of the Archbishop of Canterbury at Lambeth Palace and he has high-level access while in Australia," Dr Freier said.

As president, Mr Khatami was regarded as less confrontational with the West than some others.

He said in Iran yesterday he was withdrawing as candidate for president against the hardline incumbent, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, to avoid dividing the reformist vote.

Professor Joseph Camilleri, director of La Trobe's Centre for Dialogue, said the Jewish community's response was an over-reaction. He said Mr Khatami was "a major intellectual of the 21st century" and that he would be discussing his influential theory of the importance of dialogue in international affairs, but not Israel or Iran.

"The JCCV is completely out of step with the mainstream thinking of informed Australians," he said. "I told them I think they are shooting themselves in the foot."

Mr Searle agreed that differences over Mr Khatami could increase tension between Melbourne's Muslims and Jews, whose relations are at their lowest ebb in years over Israel's incursion into Gaza in January.

Last month the Executive Council of Australian Jewry cut formal ties with the Australian Federation of Islamic Councils after AFIC chairman Ikebal Patel refused to recant his claim that the former victims of the Holocaust were perpetrating "much worse atrocities" in Gaza.

The controversy over Mr Khatami's visit comes as US President Barack Obama tries to open channels to Tehran and reduce hostility between the two countries amid international concerns that Iran is on the verge of developing a nuclear bomb.

Legitimizing Islamofascism: Dinner in Abraham's Tent

Tri Faith
By Khalim Massoud

Tri-Faith Initiative, a partnership of Temple Israel, The Episcopal Diocese of Nebraska and The American Institute of Islamic Studies and Culture, is inviting you to attend Dinner in Abraham's Tent: Conversations on Peace.
Join us on March 27 for a special evening with national faith leaders of Reform Judaism, Islam and Christianity to discuss peace in our time and peace in our communities.

Dinner in Abraham’s Tent: Conversations on Peace is a remarkable event offering the opportunity for members of our three faith groups and others who support strengthening interfaith relationshiips to come together for worship, celebration and thought-provoking conversation.

Rabbi Peter Knobel, president of the Central Conference of American Rabbis, Dr. Ingrid Mattson, president of the Islamic Society of North America and Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori of The Episcopal Church will gather at the Qwest Center in Omaha, NE to discuss issues of peace.
The idea of interfaith trialogue is commendable, except, in this case there is one enormous problem. Muslim side is represented by none other than the infamous Ingrid Mattson, the president of ISNA. The same ISNA that was a co-creator of Muslim Brotherhood Memorandum on the General Strategic Goal for the Group in North America, which, among other things, reads:
Establishment of Islam in North America, meaning: establishing an effective and a stable Islamic Movement led by the Muslim Brotherhood which adopts Muslims' causes domestically and globally, and which works to expand the observant Muslim base, aims at unifying and directing Muslims' efforts, presents Islam as civilization alternative, and supports the global Islamic state [caliphate] wherever it is. ... Understanding the role of the Muslim Brother in North America: The Process of settlement is a "Civilization-Jihadist Process" with all the word means. The Ikhwan [Muslim Brothers] must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and "sabotaging" its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God's religion is made victorious over all other religions.
Muslims Against Sharia and many other moderate Muslims raised this issue in the past, but our words are falling on deaf ears. Make no mistake about it: conferences like "Dinner in Abraham's Tent" are legitimizing Islamofascism and advance Muslim Brotherhood Strategic Goal described in the aforementioned Memorandum*.

* Muslim Brotherhood Memorandum on the General Strategic Goal for the Group in North America was part of the evidence presented in Holy Land Foundation terrorism trial which resulted in multiple convictions on terror-related charges.

The Archbishop's Latest Folly:
The champion of Sharia law reaches out to Colonel Kaddafi’s minions.

Rowan Williams
By Mark Tooley

Early last year, Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams suggested that Great Britain accept aspects of Islamic law, or Sharia. Despite the ensuing controversy, he is now claiming some vindication, declaring that Sharia’s partial codification into British law “seems inevitable. Indeed, “a number of fairly senior people” in Britain share his view, Williams insisted, probably correctly. Meanwhile, the Archbishop engaged in interfaith outreach by visiting a Muslim group in Libya that Muammar Kaddafi founded.

Williams heads the Church of England and is the spiritual leader of nearly 80 million Anglicans globally, many of whom, especially in Nigeria, are suffering under the oppressions of Islamic law. The archbishop made his comments at a recent global gathering of Anglican bishops in Egypt, where the Christian minority, although under ostensibly under a moderate Muslim regime, still suffers under Sharia inspired restrictions.

Although not completely clueless about the threat that theocratic Islam poses to Christians and others, the purportedly very intellectual Archbishop blithely insisted that a partial Sharia in Britain is acceptable. Read more ...

Archbishop of Canterbury: Society is coming round to my views on sharia

The Archdhimmi of Canterbury
By Martin Beckford

The Archbishop of Canterbury has defended his controversial comments about the introduction of Islamic law to Britain and claimed that public opinion is now behind him.

On the anniversary of the interview in which Dr Rowan Williams said it "seems inevitable" that some parts of sharia would be enshrined in this country's legal code, he claimed "a number of fairly senior people" now take the same view.

He added that there is a "drift of understanding" towards what he was saying, and that the public sees the difference between letting Muslim courts decide divorces and wills, and allowing them to rule on criminal cases and impose harsh punishments.

However critics insist that family disputes must be dealt with by civil law rather than according to religious principles, and claim the Archbishop's comments have only helped the case of extremists while making Muslim women worse off, because they do not have equal rights under Islamic law. UK: Archdhimmi Criticizes BBC for not Airing Hamas Fundraiser

The Archdhimmi of Canterbury
The Archbishop of Canterbury has joined widespread criticism over a BBC decision not to run a Gaza aid appeal after more than 50 MPs backed a move to increase pressure on the broadcaster.

By Urmee Khan

The decision has also angered sections of the public: at least 11,000 people have complained to the Corporation over its refusal to broadcast the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) Gaza Crisis Appeal.

The DEC, which includes the British Red Cross, Oxfam, Save the Children and 10 other charities, plans to launch its appeal on Monday. All the main broadcasters including, ITV, Channel 4 and Five have agreed to air a two-minute appeal.

The BBC's refusal to broadcast the appeal has been widely criticised across the spectrum from parliamentarians to religious groups and broadcasters.

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, said: "My feeling is that the BBC should broadcast an appeal."

However, the BBC continues to refuse to transmit the appeal because executives believe it might dent its reputation for impartiality. It also believes Gaza may not be stable enough to allow aid to be delivered.

Sir Michael Lyons, the chairman of the BBC Trust, has written to Mark Thompson, the corporation's Director General, defending Mr Thompson's right not to broadcast the appeal. Read more ...

Pressure mounts on Priest gone wild

Rabin
Pressure is mounting on Catholic Priest Fr Gerard Burns to apologise for desecrating a memorial to murdered Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, says Kiwi Friends of Israel.

"We welcome the strong response from many sections of the community to Fr Burn's vandalism of the Yitzhak Rabin Peace Memorial in Wellington."

Fr Burns threw a mixture of paint and blood over the memorial to the Nobel Peace Prize recipient and former Israeli Prime Minister.

Australian Catholic News Service Cathnews reported the news under the headline "Kiwi priest defiles Rabin memorial", while the New Zealand Herald today published an editorial condemning his actions.

Wellington Archbishop John Dew has also spoken out, telling Radio New Zealand he "did not support the action at the Rabin memorial at all" and that Fr Burns was not representing the Catholic Church.

David Zwartz, a former honorary Israeli consul to New Zealand, also condemned the vandalism and is reported to have lodged a complaint with local police.

"Although the damage is already done, Fr Burns should do the decent thing and apologise for his disgraceful behaviour.

"He has embarassed his Chruch and the international attention this has recieved is damaging to New Zealand's reputation.

"The vandalism has already been reported by China's state news agency Xinhua, as well as the Jerusalem Post, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, Australia's Catholic News. It's not a good look for New Zealand, or the Catholic Church.

"Fr Burns can only hope to prevent further embarassment by apologising for his vandalism."

New Zealand: Dhimmi Priest Drips Red Paint Mixed With Blood on Yitzhak Rabin Memorial While Crowd Chants "Allah Akhbar"

Yitzhak Rabin
A memorial monument to prime minister Yitzhak Rabin in Wellington, New Zealand was defaced with red paint during a demonstration on Monday against the IDF operation in Gaza.

According to Web site Stuff.co.nz, about 100 protesters converged at the monument in Lambton Quay, where Wellington Palestinian Group spokesman Don Carson criticized the lack of New Zealand government response, calling it weak and one-sided, and urged it to enter talks with Hamas.

"Let's send a message to our politicians to damn well do something," he said.

One of the demonstrators, Father Gerard Burn, then sprinkled red paint, mixed with a drop of his own blood, on the monument to mark the killing of hundreds of Palestinians and the seizure of their land.

Members of the crowd chanted "They kill, they lie but Palestine will never die", "Allahu Akhbar" and "Free, free Palestine".

Bishop Tutu and "Israeli Apartheid"

Tutu
December 23, 2008 | Simon Deng

Late last month, I went to hear Bishop Desmond Tutu speak at Boston's Old South Church at a conference on 'Israel Apartheid.'

Tutu is a well respected man of G-d. He brought reconciliation between blacks and whites in South Africa. That he would lead a conference that damns the Jewish State is very disturbing to me.

The State of Israel is not an apartheid state. I know because I write this from Jerusalem where I have seen Arab mothers peacefully strolling with their families -- even though I also drove on Israeli roads protected by walls and fences from Arab bullets and stones. I know Arabs go to Israeli schools, and get the best medical care in the world. I know they vote and have elected representatives to the Israeli Parliament. I see street signs in Arabic, an official language here.

None of this was true for blacks under Apartheid in Tutu's South Africa. I also know countries that do deserve the apartheid label: My country, Sudan, is on the top of the list, but so are Iran, Saudi Arabia and Egypt. What has happened to my people in Sudan is a thousand times worse than Apartheid in South Africa. And no matter how the Palestinians suffer, they suffer nothing compared to my people. Nothing. And most of the suffering is the fault of their leaders.

Bishop Tutu, I see black Jews walking down the street here in Jerusalem. Black like us, free and proud.

Tutu said Israeli checkpoints are a nightmare. But checkpoints are there because Palestinians are sent into Israel to blow up and kill innocent women and children.

Tutu wants checkpoints removed. Do you not have doors in your home, Bishop? Does that make your house an apartheid house? If someone, Heaven forbid, tried to enter with a bomb, we would want you to have security people 'humiliating' your guests with searches, and we would not call you racist for doing so. We all go through checkpoints at every airport. Are the airlines being racist? No.

Yes, the Palestinians are inconvenienced at checkpoints. But why, Bishop Tutu, do you care more about that inconvenience than about Jewish lives?

Bishop, when you used to dance for Mandela's freedom, we Africans -- all over Africa -- joined in. Our support was key in your freedom. But when children in Burundi and Kinshasa, all the way to Liberia and Sierra Leone, and in particular in Sudan, cried and called for rescue, you heard but chose to be silent.

Today, black children are enslaved in Sudan, the last place in the continent of Africa where humans are owned by other humans -- I was part of the movement to stop slavery in Mauritania, which just now abolished the practice. But you were not with us, Bishop Tutu.

So where is Desmond Tutu when my people call out for freedom? Slaughter and genocide and slavery are lashing Africans right now. Where are you for Sudan, Bishop Tutu? You are busy attacking the Jewish State.

Why?

Simon Deng is a refugee from Southern Sudan, now an American citizen.

Pastor Rick Warren addresses Islamist group, emphasizes need to find common ground

Warren
MPAC
Fresh from being tapped to deliver the invocation at President-elect Barack Obama's inauguration, Orange County Pastor Rick Warren spoke Saturday night to about 800 members of the Muslim Public Affairs Council at its convention in Long Beach.

Warren's theme was about people getting along, forgetting their differences and focusing on areas of agreement. The audience cheered him, and many people rose to their feet.

Among the first to stand was singer Melissa Etheridge, a lesbian, who performed for the audience.

Recognizing the potential for controversy, Warren said near the beginning of his speech: "Let me just get this over very quickly. I love Muslims. And for the media's purpose, I happen to love gays and straights."

He said people ask him what he prays for when it comes to Obama. "I pray for the president the same things I pray for myself: integrity, humility and compassion," he said.

A council spokeswoman acknowledged that some members objected to the choice of the evangelical pastor as the keynote speaker.

"We're always looking to work with unlikely partners, and I think he's a new kind of evangelical," said spokeswoman Edina Lekovic. "We have a lot in common." Read more ...

Archbishop is helping Muslim men oppress women, say black feminists

Rowan
Dr Rowan Williams support for Sharia law is indefensible
By Damian Thompson

The Archbishop of Canterbury is helping "create the space for the most reactionary and even fundamentalist religious leaders to take control of minority communities", according to an article in the current New Statesman.

The author, Pragna Patel, is chair of Southall Black Sisters, a radical feminist organisation. It may be a strident, dogmatic, Left-wing pressure group, but it's right about one thing: Rowan Williams's support for an extension of Sharia law, later backed by the Lord Chief Justice, is utterly indefensible in a secular society.

I know: Holy Smoke keeps banging on about this. And it's not going to stop, either. Nor, I suspect, is Ms Patel, who writes:

"The sentiments recently expressed by the Archbishop of Canterbury and the Lord Chief Justice concerning sharia law are very telling: in the rush to be tolerant or sensitive to religious difference, they create the space for the most reactionary and even fundamentalist religious leaders to take control of minority communities, and they enable a climate which allows religion to define our roles in both private and public spaces. Archbishop of Canterbury: Dhimmitude In The Anglican Church

And there have been calls for his resignation. First, last week the 104th Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. Rowan Williams, called for a "carbon fast" during Lent to enhance believers' awareness of their carbon footprint on the environment (yawn!). [See my post from Thursday.] Then, on Friday called for parts of Sharia (Islamic) law to be incorporated into English law. He called for “supplementary jurisdiction” of Sharia for aspects of marital and financial law and for mediation and conflict resolution.

In the wake of
the Anglican Church's big dispute over homosexuality, Williams' moral authority looked further in jeopardy as prelates from overseas provinces of the Anglican Communion joined in the criticism with some calling for his resignation. According to FoxNews on Friday,

Weblogs and other sites have been overwhelmed by comments from the public, Anglicans and non-Anglicans, the vast majority being highly critical of Williams and his apparent appeasement of Islamism. The Prince of Wales, Britain’s foremost champion of good relations with Islam, has distanced himself from the Archbishop’s views. Privately, he is concerned that the speech is in danger of being taken out of context and distilled into scaremongering headlines.

Although the Queen is head of the Church, her spokeswoman declined to comment.

Alison Ruoff, a Synod member for London and a member of the Bishop of London’s diocesan council, said: “He has done the Anglican Communion and the Church of England no favours. He should go.”

Dr. Peter Akinola, the Primate of Nigeria, where Christians are regularly persecuted by Muslims, called the remarks “most disturbing and most unfortunate”.

Today, Williams is defending his right to broach the subject of Sharia law in England, but accepts now that his comments might have triggered misunderstanding and alarm.

"I must of course take responsibility for any unclarity" or "any misleading choice of words that has helped cause distress or misunderstanding," he told the General Synod, the Church of England's governing body.

But he added: "I believe quite strongly that it is not inappropriate for a pastor of the Church of England to discuss the perceived concerns of other religious communities and try to bring them into better public focus." [source]

The AFP story continues:
"Much of the debate has been centred on the potential for division between ethnic communities in Britain, particularly the country's 1.6 million Muslims, at a time when the government is trying to promote a more cohesive society.

"Earlier, Prime Minister Gordon Brown's spokesman praised Williams as a man of "great integrity," adding that the British leader understood the archbishop's "difficulty."

"The prime minister believes the Archbishop of Canterbury is a man of great integrity and dedication to public and community service and he understands the difficulty he is facing at the moment," Brown's spokesman said."

Interestingly ("alarmingly?") FoxNews reported over the weekend that sharia courts are already operating in London. According to The Daily Mail (as cited by FoxNews), teen members of the Somali community in Woolwich were arrested on charges of stabbing another youth, but the victim’s family told police the case would be settled out of court and the suspects were released on bail. At the hearing, the assailants were ordered to pay the victim.

"All their uncles and their fathers were there," said Aydarus Yusuf, who helped set up the hearing. "So they all put something towards that and apologized for the wrongdoing."

In Leyton, another Islamic council also said it had been handling cases -- more than 7,000 divorces -- while sharia courts in the capital were said to have settled hundreds of disputes regarding money.

Wow, folks! Another "Dhimmi" with his head in the sand, thinking we can all hold hands and sing "Kum ba yah!" I fear this wave of Dhimmitude will catch on here in the U.S. soon. The Brits need another Winston Churchill!!

Go here to see Father Jonathan Morris', of FoxNews, response. (Morris is the regular opinion journalist for the network on matters regarding religion.)

Archdhimmi of Canterbury: Sharia law in UK is "unavoidable"

Rowan Williams
The Archbishop of Canterbury says the adoption of certain aspects of Sharia law in the UK "seems unavoidable".

Dr Rowan Williams told Radio 4's World at One that the UK has to "face up to the fact" that some of its citizens do not relate to the British legal system.

Dr Williams argues that adopting parts of Islamic Sharia law would help maintain social cohesion.

For example, Muslims could choose to have marital disputes or financial matters dealt with in a Sharia court. Read more ...
