Muslim separatists are suspected to have carried out the latest series of bomb attacks in north-west China.
Xinhua news agency is reporting that the attacks - which saw eight people killed in the Western province of Xinjiang - were the work of suicide bombers.
Four of the bombers died in the assaults on government buildings and police shot dead three more. One security guard was killed.
According to the Chinese military the East Turkistan Islamic Movement poses the greatest security threat to the Olympics.
A week ago Muslim separatists killed 15 police in Xinjiang.
This followed threats by militant ethnic Uighurs to sabotage the Games.
At this stage violent clashes have not reached the capital, some 4,000 kilometres from Xinjiang.
