A couple of weeks ago Muslims Against Sharia sent a letter of support to Frankfort Township Assessor Paul J. Ruff. Today we received a response from Mr. Ruff.

Thank you for your e-mail of encouragement. I have received hundreds of responses and out of all of them only five have been negative, and they were from the leadership of the Mosques.
The overwhelmingly positive tone of these communications from like minded friends and supporters reinforces my commitment to continue to serve the public as I have since 1993, and I will seek re-election next April.
I WILL NOT APOLOGIZE
Living and working so close to Chicago’s Democratic machine, it is difficult for people that believe in God, Country and the 1st amendment and who will stand against instituting Islamic Sharia law, to be heard. The way I have been treated by all the media (with a very few exceptions) was grossly biased, hateful and mean spirited. There was no foundation to the insinuation of being a racist. In fact, the proof in point is that an African American lives next to me on the north, a Hispanic next to me on the south, a Hispanic across the street and, up until a few years ago, a Muslim lived across the street, even donating to my re-election campaign.
I offered much information to the media regarding my position, 90% of it was left on the media's editing floor. However, at the press conference; the media made sure the announcement of my opponent’s intention to run against me (a former employee that I dismissed 3 years ago) was published. That is why I believe the local Muslims and members at the Mosques are being used as political pawns to win the financial support of my opponent.
I’m sorry for not responding sooner, but the recent events could not have happened at a least opportune time. My township assessments were published last week and the tax assessment appeal process began and will run until mid December.
I appreciate your support and hope that you will continue to back me in this battle. It is an important one and one that I plan to win!
