Tunisia's first religious television channel was launched September 1 in Tunisia to mark Ramadan.
The channel is aimed at promoting tolerant Islamic thought. A religious radio station with a similar outlook began broadcasting last year.
Tunisia's minister of religions said that it was decided to launch government religious channels due to concern over the extremism on satellite stations.
