Hello, everyone. This is my first post. First of all let me just say, this is exactly what I've been looking for. I've been Muslim for about three years. I started out "orthodox", but that didn't last long. I began looking at alternative interpretations of Islam about a month after taking shahada (if not sooner), and since then I have been drowning in a sea of options, none of which suit my needs. Then, last night, I stumbled upon this website and instantly felt three years worth of stress lifted off my shoulders. I can remain Muslim (on my own terms) while retaining the values that I was raised with as a non-Muslim. At any rate, I'm sure this question has popped up before in course of this blog, but I haven't been able to sift through all the information, so forgive me if it is redundant; what approach should we take to homosexuality? I have browsed the Koran on the website, and I noticed that some of the verses referring to the people of Lut that could be construed as homophobic (I emphasize the word could and refrain from using must; the verses I refer to are 26:165-166, 27:55, and 29:28-29) have been left in. I personally have nothing against homosexuals, nor do I have a problem with homosexuality. I'm just curious to see what others think. Thanks for inviting me to contribute.
