A Palestinian man from a refugee camp has shot to death his 17-year-old daughter allegedly to cleanse the family's honor, a Jordanian judicial official said Thursday.
Many Jordanians consider sex out of wedlock a stain on a family's reputation. An average of 20 Jordanian women are killed by relatives every year in so-called honor killings.
The official said the 60-year-old man confessed to killing his daughter Wednesday when he was in a state of fury.
Forensic doctors said an autopsy showed the girl was still a virgin.
