On February 13, 2008, Danish newspapers republished the cartoons of Islam's Prophet Muhammad that had led to protests in Muslim nations two years ago. The Danish newspapers said they decided to republish the cartoons in solidarity with the cartoonist Kurt Westergaard after an Islamist plot to kill him was uncovered. Following the republication of the cartoons, Pakistani towns have witnessed a large number of protests against the Danish government and the West. The protests are still continuing in Pakistan.
