A CONTROL order on convicted terrorism supporter David Hicks will not be renewed when it expires next month, the Australian Federal Police (AFP) say.
The control order on Hicks expires on December 21.
"Following extensive consultation with a number of agencies, the AFP has decided it will not be seeking a further control order in respect of Mr Hicks," the police said today.
"The AFP has today advised the Attorney-General and Mr Hicks’ legal representative of its position."
After spending the past 12 months banned from using the internet or even a public phone without the consent of the AFP, Hicks broke his silence in a video released this morning pleading for the restrictions to be lifted.
