From CAN:The Muslims of the Americas group, accused of being a radical Islamic paramilitary group by the Christian Action Network, is said by a law enforcement source to be engaging in systematic tax fraud, reported the My Pet Jawa blog on January 4.
Members of MOA follow a Pakistan-based cleric named Sheikh Mubarak Ali Gilani, who they believe speaks on behalf of Allah.
MOA is said to be a front for a Pakistani group called Jamaat ul-Fuqra.
The source told the blog that most of the male residents of MOA’s headquarters in New York, called Islamberg, have left the compound to be educated in how to engage in tax fraud. According to the report, mosques around New York City, specifically in Brooklyn and the Bronx, are complicit in the plan by recruiting followers for the operation.
“Using information from these mosque attendees, the tax fraud operation will then use that information to file false tax returns (probably without the knowledge of the tax filer) and collect 24 hour rapid returns,” the blog says.
“A referral fee is given to the imam and the remainder of the money will then be forwarded overseas to accounts controlled by Gilani. The filer is then on the hook for the fraud if it is discovered.”
The report follows the release of a new videotape by the Christian Action Network that shows female members of the Islamberg site learning guerilla warfare tactics. The tape shows members simulating ambushes and firing guns into a lake, learning hand-to-hand combat techniques, scaling fabricated walls, practicing fighting with swords and slitting throats, and marching in military fatigue.
The video substantiated the main allegations in the Christian Action Network’s documentary, “Homegrown Jihad,” released in February 2009, regarding the threat posed by the Muslims of the Americas group.
The Northeast Intelligence Network recently released a report on the activities on Jamaat ul-Fuqra/Muslims of the Americas.
NEIN found that members of the group had moved paramilitary training to national forests and mosques and Islamic centers in New York.
