 AN American company says it will stop adding biblical references to the so-called Jesus sights for rifles used by Australian soldiers. Trijicon triggered an international uproar when US soldiers in Afghanistan discovered that letters and figures they thought were simply stock or model numbers referred to passages from the Bible. One example was JN8:12 which turned out to be a reference to chapter eight, verse 12 in the Book of John: “When Jesus spoke again to the people he said ‘I am the light of the world’.” The company has now issued a statement saying it had stopped putting the inscriptions on its sights. It said it would also give the Pentagon, free of charge, 100 free kits which could be used to remove the references from sights that had already been issued to troops. The ADF has several hundred of the sights, which are prized by elite troops for their accuracy over long range, and it is now working out how to remove the scriptural links from them with wrecking the equipment. The Michigan-based family-owned company said it had for two generations been working to provide America's military men and women with high quality, and innovative sighting systems. “Our effort is simple and straightforward: to help our servicemen and women win the war on terror and come home safe to their families. “As part of our faith and our belief in service to our country, Trijicon has put scripture references on our products for more than two decades. “As long as we have men and women in danger, we will continue to do everything we can to provide them with both state-of-the-art technology and the never-ending support and prayers of a grateful nation.” The ADF confirmed yesterday it had been unaware of the meaning of the inscription when the sights were issued to troops. “The Department of Defence was unaware of the significance of the manufacturer's serial number,” the spokesman said. “The sights were procured because they provide mature technology which is highly reliable, in wide use by our allies and best meet Defence requirements. Soldiers are confident in the utility of the sight and the positive and proven effect which it is having on operations.” The spokesman said Defence was conscious of the sensitivities over this issue and was assessing how to address them. Another inscription was 2COR4:6, which is an apparent reference to Second Corinthians 4:6 of the New Testament. The passage reads: “For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” The Australian 
 Members of a group regarded as an 'organisation of concern’ by the Home Office has secured large government grants for schools, reports Andrew Gilligan. Leading members of a group that wants to bring down the British state and replace it with a dictatorship under Islamic law have secured more than £100,000 of taxpayers’ money for a chain of schools. Accounts filed at the Charity Commission show that the Government paid a total of £113,411 last year to a foundation run by senior members and activists of Hizb ut-Tahrir - a notorious Islamic extremist group that ministers promised to ban. The public money helped run a nursery school and two Islamic primary schools where children are taught key elements of Hizb’s ideology from the age of five. Chris Grayling, the shadow home secretary, last night described the disclosure as “astonishing and outrageous” and accused the Government of “sleeping on the job”.Hizb regards integration as “dangerous” and says that British Muslims should “fight assimilation” into British society. It wants to create a global Islamic superstate, or “caliphate”, initially in Muslim-majority countries and then across the rest of the world. It says that “those [Muslims] who believe in democracy are Kafir”, or apostates. It orders all Muslims to keep apart from non-believers and boycott “corrupt” British elections and political processes. It has a tiny following and its views are rejected by most British Muslims. Hizb, which operates worldwide, insists it is non-violent and condemned the London bombings. However its website previously displayed a leaflet urging Muslims to “kill [Jews] wherever you find them” and at a rally in London earlier this year, Imran Waheed, its chief media adviser in Britain, said that there could be “no peace” with Israel, calling on Muslims to “fight” a “jihad… in the way of Allah” against it. Its anti-Semitism has resulted in the group being banned in Germany and on some British university campuses.After the bombings in London on July 7, 2005, Tony Blair, who was then prime minister, also promised to ban Hizb, describing it as “fanatical”. A ban has not been introduced but the Tories have pledged to outlaw the group and the Home Office continues to regard it as an “organisation of concern”. The three schools - in Tottenham, north London, and Slough, Berks - are run by the Islamic Shakhsiyah Foundation, a registered charity.  By Ed West It’s being reported that Dutch MP Geert Wilders has won his appeal against being banned from the UK. According to Radio Netherlands: The Asylum and Immigration Tribunal in London has ruled that the British government was wrong to deny populist Dutch politician Geert Wilders entry to the United Kingdom. Mr Wilders planned to show his film Fitna to the British parliament. The government refused to allow him to enter the UK on the grounds that he represented a threat to public order. It is not clear whether the tribunal’s decision means that Mr Wilders is now free to travel to the UK. The British government has not yet reacted to the ruling. Whether or not one agrees with Wilders’ views on Islam, which make me look like “Koran” Armstrong in comparison, the ban was outrageous. Britain allows all sorts of shady and colourful foreigners to use our premises for their nefarious activities – in contrast here was an elected representative of a democratic European party who was invited by two British parliamentarians to privately screen a film about religious fundamentalism.  In the wake of the international scandal surrounding the release of Abdel Baset al-Megrahi the convicted Lockerbie bomber, the British newspaper The Telegraph reports that several wanted Libyan terrorists are "living free" in the United Kingdom. The 12 suspects whose names appear on the UN Consolidated list belong to the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG) an al Qaeda affiliate. Among other things, the Libyans are suspected of plotting to blow up passenger airlines, and attack U.S. embassies. The Telegraph does not mention that the United States Treasury's Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) named the LIFG a "Specially Designated Global Terrorist" (SDGT) in 2001, and later, in 2004, it was designated by the U.S. State Department as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO). In addition, in both 2006 and 2008 the U.S. Department of Treasury specifically named several LIFG members living in the U.K. as subject to sanctions for links to terrorism. In the words of a senior Treasury official, "LIFG, along with other al Qaida affiliates, seeks to exploit our globalized world, raising funds in Europe for transfer to terror cells operating in North Africa." Certainly we were unaware that this man, called Kenny MacAskill, had the ability to carry out an act of terrorist-encouraging idiocy by freeing the murderer of 270 British and American citizens. And we were certainly unaware - until hearing his special pleading on the apparently uniquely forgiving character of the Scottish people - that he also claims the right to distribute forgiveness and compassion on behalf of the families of the hundreds of people whom Megrahi killed. Many Lloyds TSB customers are being hit with charges of up to £200 a month if they go into the red - while Muslims who use the bank are only being charged £15. The part-nationalised bank has been accused of religious discrimination over the disparity between overdraft charges on its standard current account and its Islamic account. The Islamic account was set up by the high street bank to attract Muslim customers by allowing them to keep faithful to their religion. Sharia law does not permit the payment of interest so the 'typical' Islamic account at Lloyds TSB has been set up without an overdraft facility. If a Muslim customer who has insufficient funds in the account tries to make a payment, it is blocked and a 'return item fee' is charged. However, on some Islamic accounts such a payment is authorised and an 'unplanned overdraft fee' of £15 is then levied. The bank says this is a management fee, not a payment of interest, so does not contradict Sharia law. Meanwhile, customers with standard current accounts who go into the red by at least £100 without authorisation are hit with an 'unplanned overdraft fee' of £20 a day for a maximum of ten days. This could mean a customer has to pay £200 in one month. The Islamic account is available to all customers at Lloyds TSB. In theory, anyone who does not need a permanent overdraft facility could switch to this account to avoid being hit by interest charges for going into the red. Instead they are told that they must comply with the "modest" code of dress required by Islamic custom, with women covered from the neck to the ankles and men, who swim separately, covered from the navel to the knees. The phenomenon runs counter to developments in France, where last week a woman was evicted from a public pool for wearing a burkini – the headscarf, tunic and trouser outfit which allows Muslim women to preserve their modesty in the water. A 24-year-old Asian man is clinging to life in a British hospital after seven men attacked him last week in London for having a friendship with a married Muslim woman. The unidentified man, who is Muslim himself and has Danish citizenship, was stabbed twice in the back and beaten so severely with bricks that authorities report he is now blind in one eye and will probably lose sight in the other. Acid was also poured down the victim’s throat, damaging his tongue and throat so severely he will probably never speak again. “The poor man got up and ran straight into a tree, then staggered back to his house, tugging at his burning clothes and banging on doors, shouting for water,” said one woman who witnessed the attack. to use alcohol-based hand gelsSome Muslims have refused to use alcohol-based hand gels to combat the spread of swine flu because they claim it is against their religion.
Some of those employed by St Albans Council in Hertfordshire have complained about the antibacterial lotion, which is considered a key strategy in containing the virus.
Officials were concerned because the Koran bans Muslims from consuming alcohol, so council chiefs issued them with non-alcohol hand gels, which studies have shown to be less effective in killing bugs.
But Muslim leaders criticised the council’s decision to change the gel, pointing out that Islamic teachings allow Muslims to use alcohol for medicinal purposes.
The Muslim Council of Britain said: ‘We would advise people to follow the medical advice so we would, of course, encourage people to use hand gel. ‘People need to find ways to accommodate their beliefs.’
Councils, schools and businesses across the country have ordered supplies of alcohol-based hand gels to reduce the spread of swine flu.

The head of the "Loyalty to the Resistance" (Hezbollah) parliamentary bloc, MP Mohammad Raad met with a visiting delegation of British senators headed by counterpart Andrew Love on Thursday, as part of the recent contacts between Hezbollah and British officials. "The talks covered the situation in Lebanon and the region in addition to ongoing efforts to form a government of national unity," said a brief statement issued by both sides after the meeting. The statement added that both sides agreed to "continue dialogue on issues of common interest". Last week, Raad held two-hour talks with British Ambassador to Lebanon Mary Frances Guy to pave the way for Thursday's meeting. Birmingham MP Khalid Mahmood last night insisted that Naseem should quit his high-profile role for insulting the memory of the 52 people who died in terror attacks on the capital’s transport network four years ago. The 7/7 Ripple Effect film argues that the Government planned the suicide bombings to incite hatred against British Muslims. The film was produced by John Hill, a conspiracy theorist from Sheffield, who now lives in Ireland. Hill, who believes he is the second coming of Christ, is now facing extradition to the UK on a charge of perverting the course of justice for sending the DVD to the judge in a trial linked to the attacks. When confronted by the Sunday Mercury, Dr Naseem initially denied he believed in the conspiracy, and said that a documentary about the “Ripple Effect” theory aired last week had misrepresented him. Dr Omer Butt, of Prestwich, Greater Manchester, ordered two women to wear a head scarf before he treated them. The General Dental Council (GDC) said the events took place "a considerable time ago". He made the requests between 2005 and 2007 while working at the Unsworth Smile Clinic. Although Dr Butt was before the GDC for making a similar demand to patients in September 2007, the professional conduct committee of the General Dental Council (GDC) found the requests were made before this date. Hook-handed cleric Abu Hamza is preaching hatefuelled sermons from his prison cell.
Dozens of inmates - many jailed for terror offences - have been gathering to listen in the cell next to where the Muslim extremist is being held at high-security Belmarsh Prison in SouthEast London.
Hamza shouts his message through piping which connects to the neighbouring cell.
The cleric, 50, was jailed five years ago for inciting racial hatred and murder during sermons and has been fighting extradition to the US.

Islamist extremists who made headlines with their protest at a parade for returning soldiers were forced off the streets yesterday by an organised demonstration of moderate Muslims. There was a national outcry when the fundamentalists barracked members of the Royal Anglian Regiment during the troops’ homecoming in Luton in March. Photographs of the protesters, brandishing banners with slogans such as “Butchers of Basra” and “Cowards, killers, extremists”, were plastered across the front pages of the next day’s national newspapers. But the demonstration was also met with anger and dismay in the Bedfordshire town’s wider Muslim community.
