Mohamed Abukar Ibrahim, a 48-year-old, was buried in a hole up to his chest and pelted with rocks until he died. The group responsible, Hizbul Islam, also shot dead a man they claimed was a murderer. Moments before his execution, his hands still free, Mohamed Abukar Ibrahim is buried in the ground. But the verdict was so shocking that it prompted a gun battle between rivals within the group that left three militants dead, witnesses said. The executions took place yesterday in Afgoye, some 20 miles south-west of the capital of Mogadishu. Hizbul Islam fighters ordered hundreds of residents to a field, where a rebel judge announced that the two men had confessed to murder and adultery. A woman who had confessed to fornication had been sentenced to 100 lashes, he added. 'This is their day of justice,' the judge, Osman Siidow Hasan, told the crowd. 'We investigated and they confessed.' But when some Hizbul Islam fighters wanted to delay the executions, a bloody gun battle broke out between the two factions, shocked residents said. 'Three Hizbul Islam fighters died and five others were injured after they fought each other," Halima Osman, an Afgoye shopkeeper, told Reuters in Mogadishu by telephone. 'Some wanted to delay the execution while the others insisted. They exchanged fire. The group that was against the execution was overpowered and chased away,' she said. Once the gun battle was over, the militants coldly carried out the verdicts. A relative of the murder victim shot the first as he lay on the floor. Obama Twists Some Facts, Omits Others
June 9, 2009 - By Sami AlRabaa Either Obama does not know what lies in the Koran and Hadith and what really goes on in Muslim countries and communities, or he simply wants to appease Muslims like most pro-Islam stooges in the West. The first thing I must point oput that the radical Islamists want to build a Muslim front against the rest of the world. And Obama's Cairo speech, focusing on a "Muslims" vs. "non-Muslims" divide of the world, will exactly serve that Islamist agenda. As concerns Islamic religion and socities, it is one of two things: either Obama did not read the Koran and Hadith and does not really know what is really going on in Muslim countries and communities, or he simply wants to appease Muslims like most pro-Islam stooges in the Western world, like Arabs say: "The hand which you cannot condemn, just kiss." Let us see how the President of the United States twisted some of the facts, and omitted many others. He said: America and Islam are not exclusive and need not be in competition. Instead, they overlap and share common principles, principles of justice and progress, tolerance and the dignity of all human beings. He also said: Throughout history, Islam has demonstrated through words and deeds the possibilities of religious tolerance and racial equality." (emphasis mine) Islam is "justice, tolerance, and dignity of all human beings?" "Islam has demonstrated through words and deeds, religious tolerance and racial equality”? This is absolutely laughable.Here is the proof, from the Koran and Hadith, that this is absolutely not true: Kill the Christians and Jews…. (Sura 2, verse 191) - Do no take the Jews and the Christians for friends…… (Sura 5, verse 51) - Men are superior to women because Allah has made them so…. (Sura 4, verse 34) - Beat them (women)… (Sura 4, verse 34). The Koran is replete with passages like these. For further details, read “Is Islam a Violent Faith?" The Hadith says: Women are deficient in intelligence (Hadith 301) - Women are crooks and useless creature. (Hadith 3466) - If women, Jews, dogs, and donkeys pass by a praying Muslims, they annul his prayers. (Hadith 493, 704) - Non-Muslims must subjugate to Shari’a (Hadith 413). In practice, if you wear a cross or carry the Bible in Saudi Arabia, you risk being jailed, tortured, whipped, and afterwards deported. Prominent Islamist chaplains like the Egyptians Al Qaradhawi, Ali Gom’a, (grand mufti of Egypt) and the Saudi Al Lehedan (head of Fatwa Council in Saudi Arabia) urge Muslims to kill foreign soldiers in Arab and Muslim lands, including Israel. Al Qaradhawi said after the invasion of Iraq, "If we don’t do that, then we are all a bunch of donkeys." These chaplains and imams across the Muslim world approve of suicide and car bombers in Israel, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Al Lehedan said, “Our prophet, peace be upon him, urged us to kill the infidels. They are the enemy of Allah. The holy Koran also urges us to kill the enemies of Islam.”One of the biggest lies which Obama presented in his speech in Cairo was his saying, It was Islam at places like Al-Azhar that carried the light of learning through so many centuries, paving the way for Europe's renaissance and enlightenment. It was innovation in Muslim communities. It was Al-Azhar which forced Nasser Hamed Abu Zeid to divorce his wife for interpreting Islam in a modern manner. It was Al Tantawi, the grand imam of Al-Azhar who issued a fatwa prohibiting Muslims from donating any parts of their body to Copts, non-Muslims. Obama also said, “No single speech can eradicate years of mistrust (between America and Muslims).” Who is actually mistrusting whom, and who is not trustworthy? Would you trust someone who denies your existence and is determined to subjugate you? Is it Muslims or the rest of the world? Who is preaching and practicing religious despotism? It is orthodox Muslims who mistrust the West and reject its value system. Then Obama turned to talk about the “civilization’s debt to Islam.” This is also not true. Arab Scholars like Ibn Rushd and Ibn Khaldun were prosecuted in the so-called “golden ages” of the Muslim empire for discussing rationalism and secularism, opposed and rejected by Islam. Ibn Sina’s scholarly medical works were due to his study of Greek and Roman scientific books and not due to Islam. Islam’s legacy is replete with oppression, violence, and discrimination. Obama reproduced in his speech what Islamic establishments across the Muslim world have always preached: Islam is misunderstood in the West. It is blemished with stereotypes. He also said, “partnership between America and Islam must be based on what Islam is, not what it isn't. And I consider it part of my responsibility as president of the United States to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam wherever they appear.”So, murdering non-Muslims and discriminating against women in the Koran, Hadith, and in practice are all stereotypes? Obama also wants “to protect the right of (Muslim) women and girls to wear the hijab, and to punish those who would deny it.” I think Obama missed adding that Muslims must also have the right to introduce and practice Sharia. It is their right under religious freedom.Obama must be credited for condemning radical Muslims like al Qaeda, but at the same time he failed to mention that these thugs have simply acted according to the “commandments” of the Koran and Hadith.Obama stressed in his speech that “Islam is not part of the problem in combating violent extremism; it is an important part of promoting peace.” Over and over again, this is not true. Repeating a lie will never change it into truth. The Koran and Hadith include lots of passages that incite followers to violence. Obama also said, “military power alone is not going solve the problems in Afghanistan and Pakistan.” This is true so long the West does not tackle the root causes of Islamic terrorism that is fed in madrassas across the Muslim world, funded by the Saudis and petrodollars of other Arab Gulf countries.Then Obama turned to Guantanamo to justify its closure and said, “I have unequivocally prohibited the use of torture by the United States.” That is fine. But how about torture in Arab prisons which is a daily exercise, especially in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Jordan? If Obama were honest, he should have raised this issue in his speech. But he did not dare do so. That would antagonize and hurt his friends, Abdullah and Mubarak. Instead, Obama commended King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, one of the worst dictators on earth, and on top of that he sought his advice. Advice on what? Advice from a despot? How to appease radical Muslims? Furthermore, Obama was full of praise to King Abdullah. He said, "I consider the king's friendship a great blessing, and I am very appreciative that he would bestow this honor on me during this visit." Obama also thanked Abdullah for his "extraordinary generosity and hospitality." Also, Obama praised the "efforts" of King Abdullah in relation to "interfaith dialogue". While this King bans followers of other religions to practice their own faiths and build their own temples in Saudi Arabia, and teaches hatred against other faiths in his schools, he calls for interfaith dialogue. This is sheer hypocrisy which Obama, of course, digested greedily. For Obama, democracy is a controversial issue. He said in his speech in Cairo, “I know there has been controversy about the promotion of democracy in recent years.” Instead of demanding straightforward democracy for Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, and the other Arab countries, Obama said, it was a controversial issue, and ignored the fact that decent Muslims and Arabs are yearning to have their societies. All in all, Obama twisted facts and avoided naming the root causes of bloodshed and misery in the Middle East and in the Muslim world at large.  Rashid and AhmedLife TV’s "Daring Question," hosted by Muslim apostates, Rashid and Ahmed, recently ran a show dedicated to examining the connection between hadiths and fatwas—particularly the more outrageous ones which have caused Islam no small scandal, such as Rida’ al-Kabir, “breastfeeding the adult." Rashid initiated the show by asking: “Are these otherwise absurd fatwas truly grounded in usul al fiqh [Islam’s roots of jurisprudence] or can we dismiss them as products of eccentric or deviant ulema and fuqaha [theologians and jurists]?” The first fatwa they focused on was the so-called “Mickey Mouse fatwa”—wherein a sheikh declared that Mickey Mouse (a cartoon character) must die. Rashid indicated that this one particular fatwa received much exposure (and laughs) in the Western media; but he displayed several Arabic newspapers also questioning the legitimacy/sanity of such a fatwa.  By Ashley Archibald Provost C. L. Max Nikias has approved the deletion of part of a Muslim student group website that hosted religious documents urging Muslims to kill Jewish people. The material was removed from a collection of scriptures known as hadiths, historical sayings of the Prophet Muhammad not included in the Quran. The hadith in question, along with thousands of others, are hosted in their entirety on a USC server as part of the now defunct Muslim Student Association's website. Nikias first heard of the hadiths' phrasing when Rabbi Aron Hier of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, a Jewish human-rights organization, approached USC trustee Alan Casden with his concerns. Hier was troubled by five hadiths advocating Muslim violence against Jews to hasten the coming of the "final hour." Nikias reviewed the site, and responded that "the passage cited is truly despicable. … We did some investigations and have ordered the passage to be removed." Members of the Muslim Student Union, which is the dominant Muslim student organization on campus but which is not associated with the MSA, declined to be interviewed, but in a statement, they called Nikias' actions "unprecedented and unconscionable" and said they amounted to unwarranted censorship. Nikias did not consult the group before he took down the hadith, they said. "We are outraged at the censorship of a complete religious and classic text without consulting us or any religious authority first," the group said in the statement. "The 'compendium' is now incomplete. There are verses in many religious texts (be it the Torah or the New Testament) that when taken out of context can be taken as offensive. Cohen As Muslim Student Association (MSA) chapters have become increasingly influential at universities and colleges around the country, critics have charged that it is a hate group that sympathizes with the international jihad and promulgates an anti-American and anti-Semitic ideology in its campus actions. In response, the MSA has claimed that it is merely another religious and cultural group similar to Hillel, a club for Jewish students, or the Newman Club for Catholics. That deception has been now unmasked at the University of Southern California, where the school’s Provost, Chrysostomos L. Max Nikias, reacting to a call from the David Horowitz Freedom Center and the Simon Wiesenthal Center, has ordered the campus MSA to remove a “despicable” hadith calling for Muslims to murder Jews as a condition for redemption from its website. David Horowitz, President of the Freedom Center, hails this as a breakthrough moment when the double standards that control the political and intellectual culture of most universities have finally been challenged. “Up to now, the slightest criticism of radical Islam on campus has been slammed as ‘Islamophobia,’ while Muslim groups and their radical fellow travelers have been allowed to say the most hateful things imaginable about Christians and Jews without any reaction from university administrators whatsoever,” Horowitz says. “Provost Nikias has called the hadith on the MSA website for what it is: despicable. Muslim reformer Edip Yuksel starts out at this Frontpage symposium sounding as if he is full of reason and good will. He introduces us to his "reform" efforts, and sets out, in exhaustive detail -- this symposium was conducted not as a live discussion, but as a submission of texts and answers to texts -- in what ways the Hadith are a danger. He suggests that the path to the reform of Islam lies in recognition that the Hadith cannot be simply interpreted away, or assigned levels of putative "authenticity" different from those assigned to them by the most authoritative muhaddithin in the past so as to render them less noxious, but rather in simply refusing to recognize their validity altogether. For Yuksel sees the Hadith, correctly, as a post-Qur'anic invention, and he wishes not only to demystify them, but also to jettison them altogether, so that his goal of "sola scriptura" in the Muslim context -- that is, reducing the canonical text to the Qur'an alone -- may be achieved. Turkey is preparing to publish a document that represents a revolutionary reinterpretation of Islam - and a controversial and radical modernisation of the religion.
The country's powerful Department of Religious Affairs has commissioned a team of theologians at Ankara University to carry out a fundamental revision of the Hadith, the second most sacred text in Islam after the Koran.
The Hadith is a collection of thousands of sayings reputed to come from the Prophet Muhammad.
As such, it is the principal guide for Muslims in interpreting the Koran and the source of the vast majority of Islamic law, or Sharia.
But the Turkish state has come to see the Hadith as having an often negative influence on a society it is in a hurry to modernise, and believes it responsible for obscuring the original values of Islam.
It says that a significant number of the sayings were never uttered by Muhammad, and even some that were need now to be reinterpreted.
'Reformation'
Commentators say the very theology of Islam is being reinterpreted in order to effect a radical renewal of the religion.
Its supporters say the spirit of logic and reason inherent in Islam at its foundation 1,400 years ago are being rediscovered. Some believe it could represent the beginning of a reformation in the religion.
Turkish officials have been reticent about the revision of the Hadith until now, aware of the controversy it is likely to cause among traditionalist Muslims, but they have spoken to the BBC about the project, and their ambitious aims for it.
The forensic examination of the Hadiths has taken place in Ankara University's School of Theology.
An adviser to the project, Felix Koerner, says some of the sayings - also known individually as "hadiths" - can be shown to have been invented hundreds of years after the Prophet Muhammad died, to serve the purposes of contemporary society.
"Unfortunately you can even justify through alleged hadiths, the Muslim - or pseudo-Muslim - practice of female genital mutilation," he says.
"You can find messages which say 'that is what the Prophet ordered us to do'. But you can show historically how they came into being, as influences from other cultures, that were then projected onto Islamic tradition."
The argument is that Islamic tradition has been gradually hijacked by various - often conservative - cultures, seeking to use the religion for various forms of social control.
Leaders of the Hadith project say successive generations have embellished the text, attributing their political aims to the Prophet Muhammad himself.
Revolutionary
Turkey is intent on sweeping away that "cultural baggage" and returning to a form of Islam it claims accords with its original values and those of the Prophet.
But this is where the revolutionary nature of the work becomes apparent. Even some sayings accepted as being genuinely spoken by Muhammad have been altered and reinterpreted.
Prof Mehmet Gormez, a senior official in the Department of Religious Affairs and an expert on the Hadith, gives a telling example.
"There are some messages that ban women from travelling for three days or more without their husband's permission and they are genuine.
"But this isn't a religious ban. It came about because in the Prophet's time it simply wasn't safe for a woman to travel alone like that. But as time has passed, people have made permanent what was only supposed to be a temporary ban for safety reasons."
The project justifies such bold interference in the 1,400-year-old content of the Hadith by rigorous academic research.
Prof Gormez points out that in another speech, the Prophet said "he longed for the day when a woman might travel long distances alone".
So, he argues, it is clear what the Prophet's goal was.
Original spirit
Yet, until now, the ban has remained in the text, and helps to restrict the free movement of some Muslim women to this day.
As part of its aggressive programme of renewal, Turkey has given theological training to 450 women, and appointed them as senior imams called "vaizes".
They have been given the task of explaining the original spirit of Islam to remote communities in Turkey's vast interior.
One of the women, Hulya Koc, looked out over a sea of headscarves at a town meeting in central Turkey and told the women of the equality, justice and human rights guaranteed by an accurate interpretation of the Koran - one guided and confirmed by the revised Hadith.
She says that, at the moment, Islam is being widely used to justify the violent suppression of women.
"There are honour killings," she explains.
"We hear that some women are being killed when they marry the wrong person or run away with someone they love.
"There's also violence against women within families, including sexual harassment by uncles and others. This does not exist in Islam... we have to explain that to them."
'New Islam'
According to Fadi Hakura, an expert on Turkey from Chatham House in London, Turkey is doing nothing less than recreating Islam - changing it from a religion whose rules must be obeyed, to one designed to serve the needs of people in a modern secular democracy.
He says that to achieve it, the state is fashioning a new Islam.
"This is kind of akin to the Christian Reformation," he says.
"Not exactly the same, but if you think, it's changing the theological foundations of [the] religion. "
Fadi Hakura believes that until now secularist Turkey has been intent on creating a new politics for Islam.
Now, he says, "they are trying to fashion a new Islam."
Significantly, the "Ankara School" of theologians working on the new Hadith have been using Western critical techniques and philosophy.
They have also taken an even bolder step - rejecting a long-established rule of Muslim scholars that later (and often more conservative) texts override earlier ones.
"You have to see them as a whole," says Fadi Hakura.
"You can't say, for example, that the verses of violence override the verses of peace. This is used a lot in the Middle East, this kind of ideology.
