CAIR's Threat to National Security

Hussam Ayloush, head of CAIR-California, is associating with and praising some of the world's most notorious supporters of terror.

CAIR leader Hussam Ayloush is on a crusade against the FBI; he’s upset by how the government agency fights terrorism. What he’s not upset by are the terrorists who threaten America and America’s allies.

It’s a pattern by Mr. Ayloush that could easily lead one to believe he is a threat himself.

Hussam Ayloush is the executive director of the California chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-California), also known as CAIR-Southern California or CAIR-Los Angeles. He has held the position since at least 2001. Between then and now Ayloush, while appearing to be a moderate, has been associated with extremists who convey hatred and violence.

In December 2001, CAIR-California’s website published a photo taken in Los Angeles of Ayloush shoulder-to-shoulder with the spiritual leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, Yusuf al-Qaradawi. This was two years after al-Qaradawi had been banned from entering the United States. Read more ...

Islamist Groups Push Conspiracy Theories in Homegrown Terror Cases

It's all a big plot by the FBI and state prosecutors to smear Muslims, don't you know?

“Our Koran is off limits,” said Hussam Ayloush, executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) Los Angeles chapter. “Our youth, who they try to radicalize, are off limits. Now is the time to tell them, ‘We’re not going to let this happen anymore.’”

The above statement, taken out of context, might read like a condemnation of radical Islamists who target young American Muslims. It’s not. The “they” and “them” in the quotation above refer not to al-Qaeda, but to the FBI. That such a conflation is possible is indicative of how leaders of “mainstream” American Muslim organizations have distorted the critical issue of confronting homegrown terrorism.

Ayloush was responding to the arrest in February of Ahmadullah Sais Niazi, a naturalized American of Afghan descent who is accused of perjury, naturalization fraud, misuse of a passport obtained by fraud, and making false statements to a federal agency, including denying that he had met with Amin al-Haq, his brother-in-law and Osama bin Laden’s former security coordinator, in Pakistan in 2005.

Instead of dealing with the facts of the case, the Islamists at CAIR and the Islamic Shura Council of Southern California attacked the credibility of the state prosecutor, Assistant U.S. Attorney Deirdre Eliot, and the government’s primary witness, 46-year-old FBI informant and father of four Craig Monteilh. In their magazines and in the blogosphere, the Islamists accuse Eliot of anti-Muslim sentiments and note that Monteilh has served time in prison. Covering for the radicals: The Mainstream Media's "Usual Bunch"

A prominent Muslim American leader issued a stern warning to the FBI. Informants should never breach the grounds of a mosque. No matter what.

"Our Koran is off limits," said Hussam Ayloush, executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) Los Angeles office said at an Anaheim mosque in April. "Our youth, who they try to radicalize, are off limits. Now is the time to tell them, 'we're not going to let this happen anymore.' "

It was the lead element in a Los Angeles Times story by Paloma Esquivel. The story described the sense of betrayal felt by Muslim activists like Ayloush after "the FBI sent an informant into a mosque in Orange County, surveilled community leaders and sent an agent to UC Irvine – caus[ing] some to begin questioning the FBI's real intentions."

The story never names the person agents wanted the informant to approach; much less the man's family ties to Osama bin Laden or his efforts to conceal his continuing relationship with the relative. Nor does it explain to readers that CAIR may have some sour grapes toward the FBI, which cut off access to CAIR last summer in light of court evidence showing the group, which touts itself as the nation's largest Muslim civil rights organization, was born to serve a Hamas-support network in the U.S. Read more ...

CAIRing for Guantanamo

he Guantanamo Bay detention camp holds many of the world’s most dangerous terrorists – individuals whose goal is to destroy America. Yet, there are some that claim the facility represents a symbol of repression against the innocent. One group in particular, CAIR or the Council on American-Islamic Relations, has been vocal in its opposition to Guantanamo. The head of the group’s California office, Hussam Ayloush, has been especially outspoken on the matter.

As of this writing, Hussam Ayloush has made 200 posts to his personal weblog. When viewing a part of it, one could easily get the impression that Ayloush is a decent person, an upstanding member of society. As an example, his most recent post deals with an interfaith gathering that took place in Madrid, Spain. However, looking beyond the blog’s shell, one discovers an individual (Ayloush) whose motives are pure evil.

On the right side of Ayloush’s blog there is contained a series of links. One of the links is to a website called IslamiCity. Along with its fancy multimedia sections and its colorful pages, the site repeatedly calls for the murder of Jews and repeatedly “curses” Jews and Christians.

The interfaith piece, dated July 23, 2008, titled ‘Need for Common Code of Ethics,’ consists of excerpts from the co-founder and National Executive Director of CAIR, Nihad Awad. Awad helped create CAIR, in June of 1994, as an adjunct to Hamas and, prior to it, worked for the American arm of Hamas, the Islamic Association for Palestine (IAP). For Ayloush, posting statements made by a Hamas operative – indeed, an operative from a group Ayloush is associated with, CAIR – is understandable, given the fact that he (Ayloush) regularly exhibits an antithetical obsession with the state of Israel.
