Law Enforcement and Jihad: How prepared are our officers really?

FP: Dave Gaubatz, welcome back to Frontpage Interview.

I would like to talk to you today about our law enforcement officers (LEOs) and their ability and freedom of action to protect our country from Islamic Jihadist groups.

Where are we on this issue?

Gaubatz: I would like nothing better than to say our LEOs are capable of defending our country against Jihadist activity, but in reality they are not. This includes local, state, and federal LEOs. Our country has the best LEOs in the world, but Americans are fooling themselves if we believe they are prepared and/or trained to be the first line defenders.

There are going to be readers (including LEOs) who will say this is not or can’t be true. Because of the research I am constantly engaged in, I speak to many LEOs. They have the best of intentions, but 99.9% do not understand the basics of counter-terrorism (CT) in regards to Islamic Jihadists. Law Enforcement Continues Sorry Record In Partnering With Islamists

January 14, 2009 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - In August of 2008 the FBI and New York State Police presented special awards to the Muslim Scouts of America troop from the Hancock, New York village of "Holy Islamberg."

The medals did not originate with the police units but were provided by El Sheikh Mubarik Ali Shah Gilani, who resides in Lahore, Pakistan.

The scouts were trained by an organization which calls itself Muslims of the Americas [MOA].

MOA is widely believed to be part of Jamaat Al Fuqra [JAF] one of the most radical Islamist groups operating in the United States today and which has founded numerous radical Muslim enclaves across the United States.

JAF is led by the aforementioned Sheikh Gilani who is thought to be intimately connected with the kidnapping and subsequent beheading of Wall Street Journal writer Daniel Pearl [it is believed that Pearl was on his way to visit Gilani when he was accosted].

JAF's fundamentalist ideology stresses purification of Islam through use of violence. Al-Fuqra members, since the 1970 founding of the group in New York, have been convicted and implicated in numerous acts of domestic terror including a campaign of bombings mounted against American Indian [not Native American] religious groups. Kiss at concert infuriates MPs

KUWAIT: Islamist MPs yesterday called on the government to act and apply the law with regard to what they called "immoral violations" committed at a musical concert held at the Al-Raya hotel on Friday night. The concert was cancelled halfway through by Information Ministry inspectors after a teenage girl reportedly hugged and kissed popular Egyptian singer Tamer Hosni.

Following disputes over musical concerts, the government introduced strict controls in May 2004 that prohibited the audience from dancing and imposed stricter segregation of the sexes. Some Islamist MPs threatened action if the interior and information ministries did not apply the law. They also called on the commerce ministry to penalize the owner of the hotel.

Qanas Al-Adwani, who heads the government department that monitors public entertainment, said the girl's behavior at Friday's concert "defied the conservative traditions" of Kuwait. Al-Adwani also said Sunday that the fan's behavior broke the controls on public entertainment. Concerts have to be licensed by the government, and monitors from the Information Ministry watch the crowd to make sure nobody stands up to dance.

Law enforcement is not equipped to fight the War on Terror

Terrorism is a military problem; civilian laws do not apply. Time and time again, civilian law enforcement system proved impotent when it comes to fighting terrorism. Sami Omar al-Hussayen, Sami al-Arian, and now Holy Land Foundation. Time and time again, facilitators of murderous acts of terrorism are fully or partially acquitted because it is next to impossible to prove terrorist intent beyond the reasonable doubt.

War is the key word in the War on Terror, which means that military must deal with this issue. The sooner American government starts utilizing military in dealing with military problems, instead of dumping those problems on law enforcement, the sooner we can reverse the losing trend in the War on Terror.
