CAIR 15th Annual Banquet Replaces Obama Faith Advisor with Controversial Imam

The Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) has announced that one of the two featured speakers at its 15th annual banquet will be a controversial Imam known as Siraj Wahajj (aka Siraj Wahaj). A university website provides concise biography of Wahaj detailing his involvement with the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood:

Wahaj is a well-known African-American Muslim speaker in North America, and a supporter of Islamic causes in America . He’s currently the Imam (religious congregation leader) of the Masjid Al-Taqwa Mosque. Born and raised in New York as Jeffrey Kearse, he became a Sunday school teacher as a teenager, then later went to New York University (NYU) where he studied Math Education. In 1969, he converted to Islam. He changed his name to Siraj Wahaj, which means “Bright Light” in Arabic, and was chosen to receive Imam training at the Ummul Qura university of Mecca in 1978. In addition, he also taught Islamic Studies at Howard University. Siraj has been vice president of Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) since 1997 and has served on the Majlis Ash-Shura, a consultative council of Islamic scholars, since 1987. Read more ...

Co-Conspirator on Campus: UF's Muslim student group claims that it’s peaceful, but look who it’s bringing to speak.

It’s Islam Awareness Month once again at the University of Florida (UF) Gainesville, and once again “unindicted co-conspirator” of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, Siraj Wahhaj, has been invited to participate. Given the inappropriate nature of the event, can anyone question the radical nature of the group who is sponsoring his appearance?

UF, like most other major universities, has on its premises a chapter of the Muslim Students Association (MSA), the Muslim Brotherhood faction that began in the early Sixties. The MSA stationed at UF has the title Islam On Campus (IOC). Not unlike its big Brother overseas, the rhetoric from IOC and its staff is considerably extreme.

In the April 2008 issue of The IOC Chronicles, in an article about an online Scrabble-type word game, the following quotes are found: “Then on the very next turn, it crosses Mosque with JEW. I was so pissed. I could just picture some programmer with a yarmulke laughing at me. Punk.” He continued his slur: “That’s exactly what these friggin Yahood want. 2008 ISNA speaker Siraj Wahhaj calls for Islamic caliphate in America

Siraj Wahhaj is a regular visitor to the Central Ohio area, but his next appearance in Columbus will be as a featured speaker at the 2008 Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) convention held here later this month. One of the unindicted co-conspirators in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, Wahhaj has been in the news recently for being featured in NY subway ads that have proved controversial in light of his known terrorist ties.

Paul Barrett, an editor for Business Week and author of the recent book, American Islam: Struggle for the Soul of Religion, has spent considerable time with Wahhaj and made him one of the primary subjects in his book (read the introduction to Barrett’s book at the Washington Post). Winner Takes Allah: MTA'S Islam Ad Furor

Elected officials and straphangers called on the MTA yesterday to pull the Islamic subway-ad campaign being promoted by a controversial Brooklyn imam whom federal officials have linked to acts of terrorism.

The push to promote Islam on the rails this September, in a $48,000 ad campaign sponsored by the Islamic Circle of North America, was reported in The Post yesterday.

"I strongly believe the MTA should pull the ads," said Rep. Peter King (R-LI), a ranking member of the Homeland Security Committee. "They are especially shameful because the ads will be running during the seventh anniversary of September 11, and because the subways are considered a primary target of terrorists."

Although the group says the ads - which will coincide with the holy month of Ramadan - aim to educate non-Muslims and reach out to those interested in joining the faith, many are incensed that Imam Siraj Wahhaj was chosen as the pitchman in a YouTube video for "The Subway Project."

In 1995, federal officials named Wahhaj an unindicted co-conspirator in a plot to blow up city landmarks, although he was never formally charged. Read more ...

An Islamic group plans to blitz 1,000 subway cars with advertisements this September in a campaign being promoted by a Brooklyn imam whom federal officials have linked to a plot to blow up city landmarks.

The group says its mission is to explain the true nature of Islam to non-Muslims who believe the religion is bent on acts of violence - but Siraj Wahhaj, the inflammatory imam who appears in a promotional YouTube video for the project, has defended convicted bomb-plotters and called the FBI and CIA the "real terrorists."

US Attorney Mary Jo White even named Wahhaj one of 170 unindicted co-conspirators in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing and the thwarted plan to blow up a slew of buildings.

"In time, this so-called democracy will crumble, and there will be nothing, and the only thing that will remain will be Islam," Wahhaj said in one of his sermons.

The next time CAIR-OH does a "cultural sensitivity" seminar for one of our local law enforcement or homeland security agencies, perhaps someone there will ask the CAIR representatives about why their organization has persistently defended convicted cop-killer Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin, who was convicted in March 2002 of murdering Fulton County (GA) Deputy Sheriff Ricky Kinchen and seriously wounding his partner in an ambush as they were serving an arrest warrant on him. Don't snap a photo of the Masjid At-Taqwa in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn unless you want to be hauled away by a group of angry Muslims in Islamic attire to the basement of the facility where a group of twenty "security guards" in karate suits will interrogate you.

This might sound preposterous.

But it happened on Saturday, April 24, at 3:00 in the afternoon.

Ali Kareem, the head of security for Siraj Wahaj's mosque, conducted the grilling. A small, muscular man with a wispy black beard that has been dyed red with henna, Kareem demanded to know the reason why a trio of kafirs had dared to photograph the building on a public street without securing his permission.

He further insisted on securing our identities and obtaining our motives for such a violation of Islamic space. Read more ...

U.S. ARMY LTC ALLEN WEST TO HEADLINE SATURDAY NIGHT AAH RALLY AGAINST CAIR

RALLY WILL CRITICIZE BROWARD OFFICIALS FOR THEIR EMBRACE OF CAIR

(Coral Springs, FL) On Saturday, March 1st, Americans Against Hate (AAH), in coordination with the Terror Free America Coalition, will be holding a demonstration against the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and the group’s usage of a government owned facility, the Broward County Convention Center, where CAIR will be holding its annual banquet/fundraiser.

CAIR was recently named an “unindicted co-conspirator” for a Dallas terrorism trial that dealt with the financing of millions of dollars to Hamas. As well, the group was labeled by the Justice Department a front for Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood.

The featured speaker at CAIR’s event will be Siraj Wahhaj, an “unindicted co-conspirator” of the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center, an act that left six innocent people dead.

AAH Chairman and founder of CAIR Watch, Joe Kaufman, questioned, “How could the local government of Broward County allow a group with numerous ties to terrorists usage of a government owned facility, especially to do fundraising in?”

Broward County has a history of support for CAIR. In 2003, the Broward County School Board produced a video that starred the Executive Director of CAIR-Florida, Altaf Ali. And in 2005, the Broward County Commission allowed CAIR use of its Main Library in Fort Lauderdale to run a six part “Islamic Culture” program.

At the rally, AAH will be criticizing Broward government officials for their embrace of CAIR.

Headlining the rally against CAIR will be United States Army Ret. Lieutenant Colonel Allen West, a modern day American hero who, while serving in both Iraq and Afghanistan, saved fellow troops’ lives.

Also speaking will be the President of the Counter Terrorism Operations Center (CTOC), Sam Kharoba. Kharoba is a software developer that trains law enforcement and intelligence personnel on issues concerning terrorism.

Where: Outside the Broward County Convention Center, at the corner of 17th St. and Eisenhower Blvd.

Hosting Unindicted Co-Conspirators

On Saturday, March 1st, the city of Fort Lauderdale will be playing host to two U.S. government named "Unindicted Co-Conspirators," the Islamic advocacy group CAIR and Brooklyn imam Siraj Wahhaj. The event will be taking place with the full knowledge of the city, while the citizens of Fort Lauderdale will be left in the dark, unaware of what their elected officials are allowing to operate in and fundraise in their town.

CAIR or the Council on American-Islamic Relations was created in June of 1994 as a part of the Muslim Brotherhood's Palestine Committee, a quad of groups looking for ways to finance Hamas from the United States. The committee was headed by Mousa Abu Marzook, then the Political Bureau Chief of Hamas. Today, CAIR has over 30 offices based throughout the U.S. and Canada, one of them being CAIR-Florida.

CAIR-Florda, like its parent and "Brother" organizations, holds annual events highlighting speakers well known to the radical Muslim community. The venue for this year’s affair, its 2008 South Florida Annual Fundraising Banquet, will be the Broward County Convention Center. The theme of the gathering is 'Let the Conversation Begin.' However, the real conversation should start with how and why an organization connected to Hamas would be given the go ahead to utilize a government owned facility for its event, especially when that group is using it to collect money.
