Muslims Bombing Muslims

By Denis Keohane

Muslims (Saudis) are shelling and bombing Muslims (Yemenis) and we are not getting hourly photos of the civilian casualties!

It seems like the same old sad story from the Middle East. The side with the powerful military apparatus shelling and bombing the far lesser equipped rebel fighters! The wealthy side putting up a fence between themselves and where the poor struggle to survive! A constant drumbeat of reports and heart wrenching pictures of the growing and tragic civilians casualties....oh wait! There's a divergence from the normal template so skip that last item.

In this case the rich nation doing the shelling and bombing and building the fence is Saudi Arabia. The poor side of the fence would be Yemen, and the rebels are insurgents in the Yemeni civil war that have moved into Saudi territory. According to AP, 175,000 have been displaced, and rebels are claiming the Saudis are randomly bombing, including residential areas. Read more ...

Alliance between Gaza (Hamas) and Iran (Ayato-/Mullahs)

Hamas

Hamas is Turning the Gaza Strip into a Repressive, Radical Islamist, Terrorist State Allied to Iran

By Barry Rubin - Tuesday, August 18, 2009

Hamas is Turning the Gaza Strip into a Repressive, Radical Islamist, Terrorist State Allied to Iran. Might this suggest the need for concerted Western action to eliminate this threat?

Apparently not. Here’s a detailed report on how Hamas is gradually turning the Gaza Strip into an Islamist state by a wide variety of activities including: educating children in Islamist beliefs, control of the media, gender segregation, banning of alcohol, indoctrination of military forces, spending considerable parts of limiting money to building additional mosques (the number has doubled in eight years) which are fully controlled by Hamas, and creation of morals’ police.Traditional weddings have been broken up (because they played music) and two singers have been arrested because of their song lyrics. Chewing gum is banned, clothing stores are inspected and items removed if they don’t correspond with Hamas’s dress code. Paramilitary summer camps have been created to indoctrinate young people and prepare them to be terrorists. In schools and in children's television shows, kids are being taught systematic hatred of Jews, Christians, and the West, while being told that violence is the remedy to wipe out all these evil forces.Courts are being made into places purely for the enforcement of Islamic law as interpreted by Hamas. Fatah supporters are repressed or forced out of jobs. “Islamic” banks established and favored by Hamas to keep control of the economy in its hands.

The media publicize radical religious views, for example, that a father cannot stop his son from engaging in armed Jihad—which contradicts the traditional idea that the father of the family is the authority figure, now Hamas doctrine overrides this. These actions are deepening the gap between the Gaza Strip and West Bank, making it unlikely that Fatah will ever win back control or that the two groups can work together. As a result, any successful Arab-Israeli or Israeli-Palestinian peace process becomes impossible.Iran and its allies are more able to spread their influence and subversion to other places in the region, increasing their ability to expel Western influence from the whole area.Might this have some damaging effect on Western interests?

Could this possibly be a more urgent world problem than Israeli construction of apartments on settlements or, as happened last week, the secretary of state's outspoken indignation when two Palestinian families in Jerusalem were evicted for non-payment of rent after a long court case?

Should a U.S. and European goal be the overthrow of the Hamas regime instead of, as happened last January, saving it from Israel’s military offensive? Could human rights’ and other groups focus on Hamas’s totalitarian direction, crushing of any freedom, and dragooning Gaza’s inhabitants toward decades of war and bloodshed. Instead they are becoming conduits for Hamas’s false charges of war crimes against Israel, which all remain unproven. It would prove impossible to organize a large demonstration in any Western country about Hamas's destruction of women's rights and indoctrination of children to blow themselves up as terrorists, yet easy to do so in favor of Hamas or at least against Israel defending itself from Hamas's attacks.Isn’t it clear that Gaza will become another base for spreading radical Islamist subversion and terrorism to other Arabic-speaking societies, first and foremost the West Bank and Egypt?

Is this all so hard to understand? But here one sees the value of the obsession with bashing Israel and turning it into a scapegoat. After all, it takes a very powerful and passionate set of excuses and distractions to hide what is so evident and dangerous for those all too oblivious to the threat. While Western countries have put sanctions on the Hamas regime, there is also increasing pressure, notably in Britain, to negotiate with Hamas. In the Western media and among “experts” there is talk about Hamas as becoming more moderate.

Iran Linked to International Terror; Media Snoozes
Looking for hard evidence of the mullahs' support for jihadist networks? Well, here it is.

Smoking Gun
By Ryan Mauro

Ever since the failure to find WMDs in Iraq, the American public and the media have demanded a nearly unreachable standard of proof before indicting a foreign government. When someone calls Iran a state sponsor of terrorism, proof that they are “linked” to al-Qaeda is demanded. Once al-Qaeda’s refuge in Iran is offered as a counterpoint, proof that the regime knows of their presence and that the group isn’t merely working with “rogue elements” of the government, but the government as a whole, is required. Then, inevitably, the topic is diverted to Afghanistan and Pakistan, arguing that whatever base of support the group has in Iran pales in comparison to those theaters, and besides, the Shiite Iranian government would never want to risk Western retaliation by being so dumb as to support its Sunni arch-nemesis al-Qaeda!

In the world of intelligence, it is extremely rare to come by the “smoking gun” now commonly requested. Luckily, several such smoking guns have emerged, but now we encounter a new problem — the fact that the media won’t report on them.

How many of you have heard of the case of Mohammad al-Oufi, the former commander of al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, who turned himself in to the Saudi authorities? Read more ...

Covering for the radicals: The Mainstream Media's "Usual Bunch"

MSM
A prominent Muslim American leader issued a stern warning to the FBI. Informants should never breach the grounds of a mosque. No matter what.

"Our Koran is off limits," said Hussam Ayloush, executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) Los Angeles office said at an Anaheim mosque in April. "Our youth, who they try to radicalize, are off limits. Now is the time to tell them, 'we're not going to let this happen anymore.' "

It was the lead element in a Los Angeles Times story by Paloma Esquivel. The story described the sense of betrayal felt by Muslim activists like Ayloush after "the FBI sent an informant into a mosque in Orange County, surveilled community leaders and sent an agent to UC Irvine – caus[ing] some to begin questioning the FBI's real intentions."

The story never names the person agents wanted the informant to approach; much less the man's family ties to Osama bin Laden or his efforts to conceal his continuing relationship with the relative. Nor does it explain to readers that CAIR may have some sour grapes toward the FBI, which cut off access to CAIR last summer in light of court evidence showing the group, which touts itself as the nation's largest Muslim civil rights organization, was born to serve a Hamas-support network in the U.S. Read more ...

A fascinating study of how the NY Times covers convicted Jihadists

The Times' story is a total of 847 words. The story is about a trial where all of the defendants were found guilty of 108 counts of funding terrorism and money laundering. This was the second trial following an earlier mistrial.

In other words, the story is how the first jury got confused and couldn't agree--neither on guilt nor innocence. Apparently, the second time around the prosecutors did a better job (what most observers think) and/or they got lucky with a better jury.

What we found jarring when we read the Times story, though, was how laden it was with the defendants' claims of "vicitmization". What follows is a careful analysis of the Times' editorial bent:

First, here is the picture (same size) that goes with the online story:

Zolfa Elaydi
Zolfa Elaydi, center, with her children Fidaa, left, and Jihad,
reacting to news that the leaders of a Muslim charity had been convicted on Monday in Dallas.
Aside from the interesting fact that one of the defendants named his son "Jihad", the NY Times reader is confronted with a gripping pictorial presentation of "innocent victims"-- the family members -- of the criminal justice system. Read more ...

The Guardian: Promoting Online Terror

The Guardian
By HonestReporting.com

HonestReporting has highlighted how some mainstream media, including The New York Times, Washington Post and LA Times, have published op-eds by Hamas leaders. We asked the question as to whether these newspapers could be guilty of providing material support for a terrorist organization.

We also stated that American newspapers would not give Osama bin Laden op-ed space. So why would they give the oxygen of publicity to a Hamas terrorist whose organization is responsible for the murder of US citizens in Israel and whose charter calls for Israel's destruction and is filled with unadulterated anti-Semitism?

One counter-argument raised by those seeking to excuse this behavior is to attempt to separate Hamas's "political wing" from its "military wing", portraying Hamas as the "legitimate and democratically elected Palestinian government".

Irrespective of this, Hamas in its entirety is a proscribed terrorist group under UK terror legislation as well as a designated Foreign Terrorist Organization according to the US State Department.

The Guardian's online "Israel and the Palestinians" section, however, includes the "Hamas military wing" (circled) as one of a list of "Useful links". There is no grey area here - this website links directly to an English language site of "Ezedeen Al-Qassam Brigades", which describes itself as "the armed branch of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas)." Whitewashing the Thai Jihad

By Robert Spencer

In a story Wednesday on a jihadist attack on a wedding party and other jihad activity in Thailand, Agence France Presse added a concluding paragraph that was typical of mainstream media coverage of the Thai jihad and of jihad activity in general. For while AP, Reuters, AFP and the rest never saw a piece of Palestinian propaganda they didn’t like, they also never saw a jihad they couldn’t whitewash. Read more ...

Mainstream Media Still Whitewashing CAIR

With all of the verified, documented information that has come to light about the Council on American Islamic Relations and their ties to Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood - not to mention their status as an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation Hamas funding trial - there’s simply no excuse for a context-free, totally whitewashed piece like this, even if it is in a relatively small Oklahoma newspaper: Murrah Building bombing shaped Muslim organization.
