Muslim Activist Critical of 'Multicultural Mistake'

Seyran Ates
By Sylvia Poggioli

Seyran Ates is a prominent women's rights lawyer in Berlin. A German of Turkish origin, she has been forced to abandon her legal practice because of death threats from Islamic radicals.

Ates is a vehement critic of what she calls an excessively benign Western attitude toward the growing influence of political Islam in Europe.

A petite 44-year-old woman with lively dark eyes and an exuberant manner, Ates grew up in a Turkish patriarchal family in Berlin.

She learned German quickly and wanted to be an active member of German society. But the only option for young, curious daughters of strict Muslim immigrants was to break with their families. Read more ...

Front-gate

By Frank J. Gaffney Jr.

Gaffney
It is now well-established in Washington that any scandal, no matter how seemingly innocuous, soon is given the suffix "-gate," establishing a lineal connection to the mother of all scandals, Watergate.

Well, let me be the first to suggest that a recent scandal in the Pentagon be known hereafter as "Front-gate" in recognition of the central role played in the drama by the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), an organization designated by the Justice Department as a front for the Muslim Brotherhood (Ikhwan). With the House and Senate both back in business this week, Front-gate should be subjected to close congressional scrutiny since it may involve the most strategically ominous case of official misconduct since the Clinton administration's China-gate.

The Front-gate saga began with the firing last month of Stephen Coughlin, a major in the Army Reserves working as a civilian contractor for the Joint Chiefs of Staff when he ran afoul of one Hashem Islam, Deputy Defense Secretary Gordon England's point-man on Muslim community outreach.

Hashem Islam is also evidently an admirer of ISNA. He arranged for Mr. England to address one of the group's meetings last year - a huge help to an organization reeling from its designation by the Bush Justice Department not only as a Brotherhood front but as an unindicted co-conspirator in a terrorism-financing conspiracy. Protecting Our Journalists From Libel Terrorism

EhrenfeldBy Assemblyman Rory Lancman

When we think about those fighting the war on terror, we of course first think of our soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq. They are on the front lines, risking their lives to protect our country. We also think about our local cops and firefighters and first responders. They are defending our cities, unearthing terrorist plots and rushing to the scene of attacks to save and rescue lives.

But every American has an obligation to do their part, in whatever way they can, to contribute to victory over Islamic fundamentalism. So while soldiers fight, cops protect, and even individual citizens who "see something" make sure to "say something," our journalists and authors discover and publish the truth about terrorists and their enablers the financiers, frontmen and terrorism-friendly regimes who provide the financial, logistical and political support and cover which enable the terrorists to exist, operate and strike.

The 19 men who boarded airplanes on September 11, 2001 and flew them into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and a Pennsylvania field were merely the tip of a long and elaborate sword aimed at the West, a worldwide network of moneymen, coordinators, facilitators, propagandists and apologists who compose the terrorist network which delivered those 19 men to American airports. The Saudis' Green Fifth Column

By Michael Reagan

Micheal ReaganHere we have the humiliating spectacle of a president of the United States begging an Arab potentate to increase our supply of oil while Democrats, who bear the major responsibility for the problem, scoff at him as a mendicant groveling at the feet of a foreign monarch.

As humiliating as it is for the United States to be put in a position where our economy is held hostage to foreign oil producers who can make or break our nation simply by limiting their petroleum production, thus causing the price of oil to skyrocket, it is even more shameful that we have allowed the so-called environmental movement to escape the blame for our predicament.

Make no mistake about it, you are paying exorbitant prices at the gas pump solely because the environmental terrorists and their Democrat allies in Congress have all but shut down our domestic oil production while refusing to allow the exploration and creation of new sources of this resource so vital to our economic health. The Center For Islamic Pluralism

CIP

It is one thing to stand against the excesses of Islam and to level well deserved criticism. And it fair to say that there are sects of triumphalist Islam with which we are at war. They include Wahhabi / Salafi Islam, Deobandi Islam, and Khomeinist Shia'ism. For lack of a better term, I will refer to them as the Islamists.

It is another thing entirely to lump all of Islam under a single banner with the Islamists. It is like lumping all of Christianity under the banner of a single sect. But finding the dividing line is not easy - and indeed, the line is deliberately muddled by many Islamist organizations such as CAIR and MCB operating freely in the West. When those who would alter and evolve their religion stand up to be counted, such as Zhudi Jasser, they are most vehemently attacked by Muslim organizations in the West. But what is worse is that they are largely ignored by the MSM.

Thus, when I stumble upon organizations clearly decicated to a vision of Islam contra to that of Islamists, I try to point them out and urge my readers, few though they may be, to fully suport them. And such, it would appear, is the Center for Islamic Pluralism, which includes on its website a weekly "Wahhabi Watch." And for example, here is a recent column by CIP's Canadian Director Salim Mansur, "Middle East Indebted to Bush," that appeared in the Toronto Sun on January 12, 2008. Read more ...

Iranian Women vs. The Mullahs: Interview with Azar Majedi

By Jamie Glazov

MajediFrontpage Interview’s guest today is Azar Majedi, the chair of Organization for Women’s Liberation-Iran. She has also been active in opposing the establishment of Sharia in Canada. She has recently published a book, Women’s Rights vs. Political Islam, a collection of political writings. She was nominated for the Emma Humphrey memorial prize in 2007.

FP: Tell us a bit about your background.

Majedi: I was born in Iran. My father was an atheist and left political activist, my mother a religious Muslim. I was influenced by my father a great deal and became an activist from my teen years, both against the dictatorship in Iran and for women’s rights. The Iranian revolution had a great impact on my life as on many others. I became more absorbed in political activities. I opposed the Islamic regime from the outset. I was working actively against the restriction the regime was imposing on women, and also working with a left political organization.

In 1982 the security forces were pursuing my husband and I, so we had to escape. In 1984 we moved to Europe. In Europe I have continued my activities uninterruptedly against the Islamic Republic, against political Islam, for women’s rights, for secularism and a more egalitarian and libertarian society. Against Islamic Apartheid

By Mark D. Tooley

Michael James Nazir-AliWhen others in his church and nation are often blinded by multiculturalism and rigid political correctness, the Church of England’s ethnically Pakistani Bishop of Rochester often speaks boldly. His recent column in The Daily Telegraph warning against encroaching self-segregation and even the growing practice of Islamic Sharia law within British Islamic communities has aroused the ire of some Muslim clerics in Britain.

“There has been a worldwide resurgence of the ideology of Islamic extremism,” Nazir-Ali wrote. “One of the results of this has been to further alienate the young from the nation in which they were growing up and also to turn already separate communities into ‘no-go’ areas where adherence to this ideology has become a mark of acceptability.”

The Islamization of some parts of British cities has happened thanks to high immigration from Muslim countries, low birth-rates among the native British, and the growing secularization of once Christian British society, where only about ten percent or less are Christian church-goers. As Nazir-Ali noted: “In fewer than 50 years, Britain has changed from being a society with an acknowledged Christian basis to one which is increasingly described by politicians and the media as ‘multifaith.’” Read more ...

Beware Fool's Gold -- and Shari'a Finance

The very expectations of glittering shari’a finance (Islamic banking) profits hypnotize financial institutions, securities exchanges, and banks--and there are few regulatory or monitoring protections against abuses. So why did United Arab Emirates (UAE) government IP address 92.97.131.110 send some 30,000 to 40,0000 spam messages on December 8, 2007, soliciting Islamic finance clients among U.S. citizens and small businesses? Another "Exposer" of Muslims Against Sharia

Normally we do not reply in length to articles about us, but the author of this item must have put a lot of time into his piece, so the least we can do is to write a response.

Let us, if we may, point out a few factual errors and omissions in this article.

1. “The site’s blogger profile says that “Muslims Against Sharia” is from Afghanistan.”
One of 5 MASH members profiles actually does read Afghanistan. Initially, the default setting of Afghanistan was not changed to the USA, but then we left it as it were to allow “honest critics” to make fools of themselves. It is not surprising that the author did not mention the other four profiles.
2. “Curiously, the site contains absolutely NO membership or governance information at all.”
If the author had any brains, he/she could have realized that there are security issues involved. But an ideologue having brains, is a little too much to hope for, isn’t it?
3. “The first “donor” on the list, if you google it, turns out to be the Executive Director of the organization.”
That’s a great piece of information, except for MASH does not have an Executive Director.
4. “The second “donor”, turns out to be a member of the organization who seems to spend most of his time posting anti-Muslim taunts on various blogs.”
Anti-Muslim taunts, that’s interesting. We actually do post taunts, mostly to provoke responses, but judging by the responses we provoke http://www.reformislam.org/quotes.php, red (bottom) section, our taunts are hardly anti-Muslim. And if we do get into an argument with Islamofascist on a rare occasion, we promptly get blocked.
5 “And here again, one is struck by the uncanny similarity between the agenda of this allegedly “Muslim” group, and that of American and European neo-nazi sites that claim to support “moderate” Muslims while actually trashing anything Islamic.”
Our motto, which is posted on the top of every page of our website is that Islam is Peace, Love, and Light. Our logo contains a crescent and a peace sign. For the author to omit those items is at the very least disingenuous, but expecting integrity from a degenerate demagogue is quite unreasonable, so we won’t focus on that.
6 “Among the elements of this “Muslim” “Manifesto” are such popular right wing talking points as “the Crusades were not unprovoked acts of aggression, but rather attempts to recapture formerly Christian lands controlled by Muslims”, and “We must remove evil passages from Islamic religious texts, so that future generations of Muslims will not be confused by conflicting messages.””
Just because the author does not like the history of the Crusades, it does not change historical facts. As for removing evil passages from Islamic religious texts, it is our original idea. Granted, someone could possibly come up with the same idea before, but we are not aware of it. But the demagoguery of the author attributes any ideas that that he/she opposes to the other side of the political spectrum.
7 “For those who don’t know John Loftus, he’s an extreme former Fox News commentator”
The author seems to know a hell of a lot about that damn extremist Loftus. Then why does he/she fail to mention that Loftus is a life-long Democrat? Or is it just Lotus’ nefarious plan to deceive Democrats? Just as non-Muslims Against Sharia have a nefarious plan to deceive Muslims?
8 “The next item in the “blog” is a press release from Joe Kaufman, of “Americans Against Hate”. You remember them? Founded by a Republican media specialist, they sponsored the nauseating “Gore-Sharpton” ads that Bill O’Reilly condemned.”
That sounded interesting and we contacted Joe Kaufman about the supposed ads. He was not aware of them. So this is another item the author just made up. Must be running out of one-sided facts.
9 “If you dig deeper into the “blog”, you’ll find ... extensive condemnation of Islam in ALL its forms, of Democrats, and of every Muslim country on the planet. In an hour of searching, I didn’t find a single entry…not one…that said anything positive about Muslims.”
Let’s dig deeper, shall we? The author must be referring to the following articles that defame Muslims and Democrats: “Islam is O.K. The Imam's are NOT!”, “Muslim hero breaks up train beating,” or “Armenian Genocide Bill” that states “Muslims Against Sharia commend House Democrats and Speaker Pelosi,” just to name a few. And if the author missed all those articles, there is a list of prominent moderate Muslims in the upper right corner of every page on our blog. But we must have placed them there just to denigrate them, right? But if that were true, why would we publish their articles on our blog?
10 “I did find this entry, which actually argues that “moderate Muslims” pose a greater threat to mankind that Jihadists.”
If the author found that entry (which was clearly posted for discussion purposes and not to imply that moderate Muslims are a threat), why not mention that it was accompanied by a MASH comment “For the record, the author does not understand what "moderate Muslim" means.”?
11 “In fact, the articles posted on the blog are once again completely indistinguishable from the sort of URQ Muslim-hatred one expects from the likes of Shaidle, McMillan, Sentinel, and the emerging neo-Nazis.”
Would “Islamonazi's Prayer for Stormfront” be one of those articles?
12 The author goes on to list some of the non-Muslim blog contributors, claiming, “So these are the “Muslims Against Sharia”” The author’s ideology prevents him/her from making a distinction between a blog contributor and a member of Muslims Against Sharia. Just as it prevents him from making a distinction between moderate Muslims and Islamofascists. But it comes as no surprise because this tactic is widely employed by degenerate demagogues, whether they are Islamofascists, left-wing Dhimmis, or right-wing nutjobs.

In case the author realizes that our reply made him look like an idiot, which demagogues usually are, and changes the contents of the article, we took screenshots.

Update (1/15): In the interest of fairness, here is a link to the next article posted by the same author: "If You Can't Beat'em..." It seems that even a demagogue might reconsider his/her position when confronted with the facts. The key word is "might", though.

Update (1/16): While we gave the benefit of the doubt to ‘Balbulican the demagogue’, and answered all of his/her questions, he/she is still bent on proving to the world what kind of frauds we are. Lucky for us, the demagogues are usually not that bright. We figured that the best way to find out how many people consider MASH a fraud, is to run a poll. And what do you know, our demagogue got caught lying. Below is an excerpt from our message to the fraudulent fraud-buster:
"when this comment appeared there was only one negative vote. Do you really expect anyone to believe that someone who runs a “StageLeft” blog would vote for Fred Thompson? Your pathetic attempt to skew the results of this poll are so transparent, it’s not even funny. We suggest next time you try to accuse someone of fraud don’t get caught perpetrating one." Our demagogue’s new life goal is to prove that MASH is a fraud. He trolls the Internet collecting quotes (which we’ll be happy to provide for years to come) that in his feeble little mind make us non-Muslims. (Apparently calling someone an idiot or a Nazi is a very un-Muslim thing to do.) The demagogue claims he/she noticed, “that even the conservative sites who initially applauded this fraud are quietly backing off”. The fact that he/she does not mention the sites in question is interesting, but what even more interesting is that how our demagogue could have noticed the "quiet backing off" of the aforementioned sites. Don't you just love to catch a smear merchant in a lie?

Update (1/21): first 100 votes are in. Under 20% of responders believe that MASH is a fraud. Considering that a comparable percentage of Americans believe that 9/11 was some type of Neocon conspiracy, the results must be pretty accurate. The fact that nearly half of Ron Paul supporters think that MASH is a fraud is not surprising. What would be is that a lot of Fred Thompson supporters seem to agree with those of Ron Paul. But this anomaly has been addressed earlier.
