Shameful but true. The CBC has launched a new anti-hunger campaign which sounds very noble until you notice the participants:
Little Mosque on the Prairie's cast and crew, in association with the CBC, Canadian Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-CAN), Muslim Association of Canada (MAC), Islamic Institute of Toronto (IIT) and MuslimServ, are asking YOU to join us in the fight against hunger.
More on CAIR-CAN here, but it is the inclusion of the Muslim Association of Canada that you should take notice of. As they describe themselves:
MAC adopts and strives to implement Islam, as embodied in the Qur'an, and the teachings of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and as understood in its contemporary context by the late Imam, Hassan Albanna, the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood. MAC regards this ideology as the best representation of Islam as delivered by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
More on al-Banna and his "contemporary" beliefs:
...Al-Banna also instructs that Muslims should "Completely boycott non-Islamic courts and judicial systems. Also, dissociate yourself from organisations, newspapers, committees, schools, and institutions which oppose your Islamic ideology." Al-Banna also condones in this book spreading Islam with violence: "Always intend to go for Jihad and desire martyrdom. Prepare for it as much as you can." Read more ...
