Former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert spoke about the Goldstone Report at the opening of a memorial site in Jerusalem. Olmert, who oversaw the Cast Lead counterterror operation in Gaza which was the subject of the critical UN report, slammed the investigation and called to continue fighting terrorism worldwide.
"During [counterterror] operations, it occurs that innocent people are hurt...
We must put the self-righteous and hypocritical campaigns in their proper place, and continue the war,” he said.
The war on terror will continue “until all terrorist organizations are wiped out,” the former PM said. He called on Western leaders to understand that the war on terror must continue.
Yesterday, President Shimon Peres issued harsh criticism of the Goldstone Report as well.
In a meeting with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, Peres called Goldstone “a small man with no real sense of justice.”
Goldstone, not Israel, should be the one under investigation, Peres added.
