UK: Women should be hit for wearing sexy clothing in public, one in seven believe

One in seven people believe it is acceptable in some circumstances for a man to hit his wife or girlfriend if she is dressed in “sexy or revealing clothes in public”, according to the findings of a survey released today.

A similar number believed that it was all right for a man to slap his wife or girlfriend if she is “nagging or constantly moaning at him”.

The findings of the poll, conducted for the Home Office, also disclosed about a quarter of people believe that wearing sexy or revealing clothing should lead to a woman being held partly responsible for being raped or sexually assaulted. More ...

HOME secretary Jacqui Smith is facing a double standards row after it was revealed that an Islamic extremist exposed by the Sunday Mercury is set to travel to the UK.

In November 2008 the Sunday Mercury revealed that Ibrahim Moussawi, a journalist linked to terrorist group Hezbollah, had been awarded a PhD from Birmingham University and was still allowed in to Britain.

The Home Secretary is under pressure to refuse an entry visa to Moussawi, who has been invited to speak at a London University, after she stopped right wing Dutch MP Geert Wilders from coming into the UK to protect ‘community harmony’.

Moussawi, 43, who lives in the Lebanon, is judged so dangerous that he was denied a visa to enter Ireland in 2007 and Tory leader David Cameron has called for him to be banned from Britain.

But he was allowed to travel to the UK in February 2008 and proceeded to address rallies in London, Birmingham and Bristol.

Tory Peer Baroness Neville-Jones wrote to Ms Smith warning her that Moussawi should not be allowed into the UK. Read more ...

Geert Wilders to sue Jacqui Smith over decision to deport controversial film-maker

Dutch MP Geert Wilders is "seriously considering" taking steps to sue Jacqui Smith over her decision to ban the controversial film-maker from the UK.

The legal action would have the backing of the Dutch Government, in a move which could aggravate the diplomatic row over the ban between London and Amsterdam.

Mr Wilders said he was looking to take legal action against the Home Secretary for "blatant discrimination" in the High Court or International Court in the Hague.

The Dutch Politician and film maker was sent back to Holland on Thursday night after trying to enter Britain to show his anti Muslim film Fitna in the House of Lords.

Mr Wilders had been invited to Westminster by Ukip peer Lord Pearson to show is 17 minute film Fitna, which criticise the Koran as a "facist book".

Mr Wilders is being encouraged to sue the Government by Maxime Verhagen, the Dutch foreign minister who is still furious with the Home Office's decision.

He said he would back Wilders in a possible decision to bring a case against the British Government's "disgraceful decision". More ...

Dutch MP banned over anti-Islam film is to be sent back home from Heathrow

A right-wing Dutch politician is to be sent back to the Netherlands after attempting to defy a ban on entering Britain.

Geert Wilders arrived at Heathrow airport this afternoon and was presented with a letter that refused him entry to the UK.

Mr Wilders said he was detained by UK Border Agency officials on arrival, had his passport taken away, and was told he would be sent home within two hours.

The politician had been invited to Westminster to show his 17-minute film Fitna, which criticises the Koran as a 'fascist book', by a member of the House of Lords.

Speaking from Heathrow, Mr Wilders branded Gordon Brown the 'biggest coward in Europe' and said freedom of speech in Britain had been 'set back centuries'. Read more ...

UK Lets Hezbollah Spokesman Into Country to Attend Seminar, Two Weeks After Saying Foreign Extremists Wouldn't be Allowed to Enter Britain....

The British Home Office is under fire for allowing Hizbullah spokesman Ibrahim Mousawi to again enter the country. The visit comes only weeks after the home secretary announced new measures to prevent extremists from entering the United Kingdom.

Mousawi spoke at a week-long conference on political Islam at London University's School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) that ended on Friday. Last December he was also allowed to enter the UK to address a conference which was organized by a group with an anti-Israel agenda.

"The program has a wide range of speakers with diverse specialisms," a spokesperson for SOAS said. "Mousawi was invited to participate in the program as he is a leading expert on Hizbullah. He had no problems in entering the UK." Read more ...
