Muslim Terrorist Cleric Wants to Retain UK Citizenship

Hate preacher Abu Hamza last night began yet another expensive legal fight against the taxpayer - this time to retain his British passport.

His appeal against a Home Office decision to remove his UK citizenship is expected to cost tens of thousands of pounds.

This is in addition to the estimated £3.5million the fanatic has already cost the public purse, including £1.1million in legal aid.

Home Secretary Alan Johnson says Hamza, who has joint UK and Egyptian nationality, is unfit to keep his British passport.

But 51-year-old Hamza claims this is unfair.

He is currently in a high security jail fighting attempts to extradite him to the U.S. on terror charges.

That case will come before the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg later this year.

His lawyer, Amanda Weston, told a preliminary hearing of the Special Immigration Appeals Commission that her client wanted the citizenship case heard while he was still in the UK and 'able to participate in proceedings'.

James Strachan, for the Home Office, said the case should be put off until after the Strasbourg ruling.

Hamza, who for years preached hate at the Finsbury Park Mosque in North London, is using every possible means to stay here.

If he wins both his extradition case at the European Court of Human Rights and his citizenship appeal, he could not be sent to the U.S. or any other country.

Hamza came here from north Africa in the early 1980s on a student visa and acquired a British passport through marriage. He was jailed for seven years in February 2006 for inciting murder and race hate.

Attempts to take his passport away were launched in 2003 but delayed by other legal actions against him.

Revoking his citizenship might allow the authorities to deport Hamza if his court fight against extradition is successful.

A preliminary hearing date was set for February 9.

Terrorists smuggle fatwas out of secure prisons

SOME of Britain’s most dangerous Al-Qaeda leaders are promoting jihad from inside high-security prisons by smuggling out propaganda for the internet and finding recruits.

In an authoritative report, Quilliam, a think tank funded by the Home Office, claims “mismanagement” by the Prison Service is helping AlQaeda gain recruits and risks “strengthening jihadist movements”.

Abu Qatada, described by MI5 as “Osama Bin Laden’s right-hand man in Europe”, has published fatwas — religious rulings — on the internet from Long Lartin prison, in Worcestershire, calling for holy war and the murder of moderate Muslims, it reveals.

Abu Doha — said to be Al-Qaeda’s main recruiter in Europe — has taken courses in Belmarsh prison, south London, enabling him to mentor other inmates.

Abu Hamza, jailed in 2006 for inciting murder, has preached radical sermons to followers using water pipes in his Belmarsh cell, and Rachid Ramda, the Algerian leader of the Paris Métro bomb plot, led Friday prayers in the same jail.

Dame Pauline Neville-Jones, shadow security minister, said prisons risked becoming “incubators of extremism”.

Qatada, a radical Islamist cleric who is wanted on terrorism charges in Jordan, is held in the the “supermax” segregation wing of Long Lartin. Built at the height of the IRA’s bombing campaign and designed to house dangerous inmates, it should be one of the most secure buildings in the country.

Like other jailed terrorist leaders, Qatada is meant to be cut off from his supporters outside. Yet it is said that last year, under the noses of warders, Qatada and Adel Abdel Bary, leader of the UK branch of Egyptian Islamic Jihad, were able to smuggle out a series of fatwas legitimising attacks by AlQaeda and endorsing the murder of moderate Muslims.

Qatada and Bary are two of about 100 Islamist terrorists in UK prisons. Many are held in supposedly top-security jails such as Belmarsh, Frankland in Co Durham and Woodhill in Milton Keynes, for inciting or plotting attacks in which hundreds of people could have died.

I admire Islam, it's lefties I can't stand

A blog I wrote a couple of weeks back is still being debated on the internet, with one American lefty describing me in truly glowing terms:

There’s a truly awful piece in Telegraph blogs by, no not Damian Thompson, but Ed West, entitled “Here’s an inconvenient truth: the Islamisation of Europe”.

West tries to rationalize what is nothing more than a racist diatribe against Muslim immigration and Muslim citizenship in Europe. While he tries to couch his article in language that conveys anxiety over mass immigration and the costs to social cohesion, he betrays his barely concealed Islamophobia by singling out Islam and Muslims as the scourge of Europe.

Reading West, one would think the BNP and associated far right racist parties in Europe were merely filling the void left by mainstream parties unwilling to bring the debate on the effects of Muslim mass immigration to the centre stage. Perhaps because to do so would reveal one’s patent anti Muslim prejudice, Mr West?

The point of the article was that immigration into Europe is at historically unprecedented levels, and that this will at best make for less happy and less equal societies, and at worst cause serious unrest and violence.

I sat on that blog post for almost a week because I was worried about the reaction; it was an unpleasant truth and sometimes unpleasant truths attract unpleasant words and people, but someone had to say it.

I wanted to call it “Immigration, an Inconvenient Truth”, but that title had already been taken by Rageh Omaar’s non-hardhitting documentary last year.

Islam has become something of a scapegoat for both decent people concerned about immigration, and outright racists. This is primarily because the other problems associated with immigration – specifically the moral collapse of black culture and the crime caused by it – are utterly verboten: far easier to attack “the Islamics” since liberals also despise their culture and loonies like Anjem Choudary or Abu Hamza make such good pin-ups. But the title was still honest, 90 per cent of non-white immigration being Islamic.

Actually I admire Islam far more than most lefties do. I admire its respect for family and old people, I admire its sobriety and sense of charity and honesty.

I find Mohammed a strange character to follow and the Koran full of violence, but that doesn’t neccesarily produce violent societies. Mormonism is by far and away the dumbest-sounding religion in theory, based on the words of a convicted fraudster, but Mormons are overwhelmingly decent, upstanding people and Mormon areas have almost zero crime.

Islam and the West don’t necessarily have to clash forever, although they probably will – much depends on Turkey, the great secular hope.

But I also recognise that Islam fell behind Christianity a long time ago, and at the moment, far from catching up, it’s going backwards in terms of cultural and political progress. Religions are like viruses – they are often beneficial, but sometimes a strain will become dangerous, and many variants of modern Islam are a threat to world peace (and would still be if there was no Israel, no American interference, and no Indian occupation of Kashmir).

As well as the fundamentalist interpretation of the Koran, which can justify all sorts of horror, Islam has become a lightning rod for all the world’s embittered, angry losers, anyone with a grudge against capitalism, America, the West, white people in general and Jews in particular.

Look at the pathetic specimens who convert to extreme Islam in England.

This, coupled with unrestricted levels of immigration to the West, is a dangerous combination.

I don’t hate or fear Muslims or Islam – in a more rational world I wouldn't even feel the need to say that – but I do despise the western liberals who want to whitewash Islam of all its faults and who, by so dishonestly calling it a “religion of peace”, only encourage many people to believe it is a religion of war.

New Threat Message Warns: Al-Qaeda Will Attack Germany on a Sunday in October

The Al-Falluja jihadist forum has posted a new threat message to Germany specifying that attacks will be carried out on one of the Sundays in October.

It is titled "To the Infidel German Nation: We Bestow on You the Kindness, for the Third Time, of Specifying the Appointed Day!"

The message, which is being heavily promoted by Al-Falluja, is the latest in a series of threats to appear on the forum [1] following the release of Al-Qaeda videos threatening attacks in Germany. [2]

This message had a strange rollout. Early on October 3, 2009, a forum member called Abu Hamza 2005 wrote a post titled "Welcome to the new member Mou10ra11bitt18oun25!" He wrote that when browsing the Al-Falluja forum he had come across this newly-registered user, and that the username reminded him of "p2l0a0g8u9e," a member on the now-defunct Al-Ekhlaas forum who, in May 2008, posted a video threatening the destruction of the U.S. in a nuclear strike.

The Al-Falluja moderators made Abu Hamza 2005's article a featured post. [3] About 12 hours later Mou10ra11bitt18oun25 posted his threat; [4] it was a featured post, and was later given a banner on the top of the Al-Falluja home page.

A jihadist media workgroup that had been formed ahead of time to distribute threats to German forums and emails [5] took the post by Mou10ra11bitt18oun25 as their go signal and began to distribute it. [6]

As with the other threats on Al-Falluja, it is difficult to know whether Mou10ra11bitt18oun25 is really privy to Al-Qaeda attack plans (if these exist), or whether the post is just meant to spread panic and/or disinformation. The circumstances of the release of his message do seem to indicate that the Al-Falluja moderators had advance knowledge of it. Al-Falluja has a direct link to Al-Fajr, the media group Al-Qaeda uses to distribute its propaganda.

Forum members have speculated that the numerals in Mou10ra11bitt18oun25's username refer to the month of October ("10") and the dates October 11, 18, and 25, all of which are Sundays. [7] One forum member voiced the opinion that the numerals in the username mean that the attack will be on October 11 at 18:25 (6:25 PM). [8]

In a video released on September 19, the German Al-Qaeda operative Abu Talha warned Muslims to stay away from public areas for two weeks after the German elections unless a government were elected that supported a withdrawal from Afghanistan. [9] The German elections were held on September 27, 2009.

Following is a translation of the new threat message:

"To the Infidel Crusader Nation of Germany... Death Be Upon You"

"In the name of Allah the Beneficent, the Merciful.

"To the Muslims in Germany and outside it we say: peace and Allah's mercy and blessings be upon you.

"To the infidel Crusader nation of Germany, we say: Before the elections Sheikh Osama, may Allah protect him, and the brother Abu Talha, [10] may Allah grant him success, said to you: peace be upon those who follow the guidance. [Now,] after the elections, we say: death be upon you! [11] Death be upon those who want war!

"Perhaps many among you Germans saw on your [TV] screens the black days that passed over London, Madrid, New York, and Washington.

"The entire world still remembers the black Tuesday in New York and Washington. Everyone remembers the black Tuesday in Madrid. Everyone remembers the black Thursday in London.

"To be sure, these arrogant peoples were not warned about these attacks, and [were not told] the days [on which they would occur], in contrast with you. You were extremely lucky that we did you a good deed [and gave you the choice], and you chose blood, body parts, and destruction. We specified the time period [in which the attacks will take place]; this is a kindness over which your brothers in Madrid and London will envy you.

"We will bestow on you a third [kindness] and specify the day [of the week]!

"We would allow you the choice in specifying it, but we preferred to choose it for you with care and precision! How do you feel about Sunday? That is a good day, and is a holiday for you, as it is for others of your coreligionists.

"After we chose Thursday for London, and Tuesday for New York and Washington, and Tuesday for Madrid, here we choose Sunday for you.

"Would it be good [for the attacks to be] on Sunday, October xx, 2009? Or Sunday, October xx, 2009? Or Sunday, October xx, 2009? [12]

"Sorry, we won't bestow on you the kindness of telling you a fourth time, but we have definitely specified it.

"There remains [the matter of] the city! Will Berlin wear the same garb as New York? Or will other cities win this honor, such as Bonn, Frankfurt, Hamburg, or perhaps: [-----------------]

"Angela Merkel, you certainly drank the victory toast! But we promise you that you will be drinking it again and again, but this time it will have a different taste and a different color, because the cup will be filled with the blood of your people, who elected you and chose war!

"Oh, by the way we heard that you are good at cooking, and that you cook regularly! Sunday is a good day for this hobby, is it not? How do you feel about making your dish that day 'shoulder of German citizen', or their head?

"Important note to the helpers [of Al-Qaeda]: This is your day. Do not spurn anything that is of good. Take it and put it on the German forums and send it by email. Revealed: How a public schoolboy was turned into a Muslim terrorist by online hate preachers

A former public schoolboy planned a suicide bombing after being radicalised by extremist preachers on the internet.

Andrew 'Isa' Ibrahim, 20, was arrested just 'a matter of hours or days' before he was about to strike at Bristol's biggest shopping centre.

The son of Christian church-going parents converted to Islam after falling under the spell of radicals such as Abu Hamza, Omar Bakri Mohammed and the 7/7 bombers, in speeches recorded on the internet.

He had also become a regular hard-drug user, after first experimenting with cannabis at 12.

Yesterday he was convicted at Winchester Crown Court of making an explosive with intent to endanger life or cause serious injury, and preparation of terrorist acts, and sentenced to at least ten years in jail.

His father Nassif - an Egyptian-born consultant pathologist - mother Victoria, and brother Peter were in court every day and have regularly visited him while he was in prison. Mrs Ibrahim fled the court in tears as the sentence was passed.

Mr Justice Butterfield said: 'You were, in my judgment, a lonely and angry young person at the time of these events, with a craving for attention.'

Ibrahim made explosives and a suicide vest in his flat and carried out extensive surveillance at Broadmead shopping centre in Bristol, where he planned to cause the maximum damage by using nails and ball bearings in his bomb.

He bought the main components for the suicide bomb from high street shops, including branches of Boots.

Ibrahim was only caught after members of the Al-Baseera mosque in Bristol saw injuries he suffered while testing the explosive and, concerned about his extreme views and what he may be planning, told police that a white Muslim convert was acting suspiciously.

It is believed to be the first time that the Muslim community has played a central role in bringing a potential terrorist bomber to justice.

When they entered his flat in April last year, police found between 125-245 grammes of the unstable explosive Hexamethylene Triperoxide Diamine, also known as HMTD, in a Family Circle biscuit tin in Ibrahim's fridge.

He had also made an electrical circuit capable of detonating the explosive at short range and a half-made suicide vest, and filmed himself testing the explosives on the floor of his flat.

Ibrahim made the HMTD, the same substance used in the July 7 attacks, and suicide vest entirely through instructions from the internet.

There was also a large amount of radical literature in the flat and when he was arrested the book Milestones by Sayyid Kutb was in his rucksack. The book advocated jihad and radical Islam.

The jury of four women and eight men spent six days deliberating before finding him guilty of making an explosive substance with intent by a majority of 11 to one and the preparation of terrorist acts by a majority of ten to two.

Ibrahim, from Westbury-on-Trym, Bristol, had denied both charges but pleaded guilty to a third charge of making an explosive substance.

He told the jury he just wanted to set the explosives off and film it for the YouTube website to fill a void in his life because he was lonely and the lost sheep of his family.

Mr Justice Butterfield told Ibrahim that, even though he had not made a detonation device or completed the suicide vest, his preparations for an attack were 'advanced'.

He added: 'You are a dangerous young man, well capable of acting on the views you held in the spring of 2008.'

Flanked by four prison officers, Ibrahim showed no emotion as the jury delivered its majority verdict.

After the verdict the Crown Prosecution Service Counter Terrorism lawyer Moira Macmillan said: 'The device that Ibrahim was making was viable and he had taken steps to make it even more destructive by acquiring ball bearings and airgun pellets.

'He had identified a target. Had he carried out the attack he had been preparing, serious civilian casualties would have been inevitable.'

More details emerged yesterday of his journey from public schoolboy to potential suicide bomber.

Brought up in a £1million gated mansion in the leafy Bristol suburb of Frenchay, Andrew Ibrahim seemed set for a prosperous life like his elder brother, Peter, 27, who went to Oxford University and is now an IT software engineer.

But his unruly behaviour, and developing drug habit began to take their toll.

Ibrahim was first expelled from £19,065-a-year Colston's School for smacking girls on the bottom. He was then thrown out of the £9,885-a-year Queen Elizabeth Hospital school in Bristol aged 12 for smoking cannabis.

He moved to writer Auberon Waugh's former school - the £24,141-a-year strict Roman Catholic Downside School in Bath as a boarder, but was expelled for drinking alcohol in the dorm and going missing. He ended up at the then £7,500-a-year Bristol Cathedral School, where he passed nine GCSEs with good grades.

By now Ibrahim, who converted to Islam at 16, was using harder drugs such as heroin and crack cocaine.

His parents found him a rented flat in Bristol, but he let another drug addict move in, and the pair sold the property's entire contents. During this period Ibrahim received three warnings from the police - two for shoplifting in autumn 2006, and one for possession of heroin in May 2006.

When the lease on the flat ran out Ibrahim declared himself homeless and became a Big Issue seller outside Broadmead Shopping Centre.

He moved into a hostel a month later. Shortly after moving to the hostel, in 2007, he began wearing traditional Islamic dress and changed his name from Andrew to Isa by deed-poll.

Still using drugs, Ibrahim returned to full-time education and started studying for A-Levels at the City of Bristol College, where a visiting lecturer reported him to the college after Ibrahim asked her what kind of biological weapons could be used to kill people.

His parents were still trying to help their son by buying him food and clothes, while his father would drive him to mosques in the city in an attempt to support his decision to convert to Islam.

But Christmas 2007 was a turning point for Ibrahim.

Investigating officer Detective Superintendent Nigel Rock, deputy head of CID at Avon and Somerset police, said: 'He might have had an argument with his Mum and Dad, there seems to be a watershed where he had dabbled and had a look at things on the internet, to where it suddenly rises sharply after Christmas.'

Ibrahim moved into his one-bedroom council flat in Westbury-on-Trym and started searching the internet for information on bomb-making.

He watched videos made by suicide bombers repeatedly, which he had downloaded to his mobile phone, and made his vest and the HMTD.

The night before his arrest last year Ibrahim had gone to his father's house to get ball bearings to use as shrapnel.

When police entered his flat, they found the vest hanging on the back of his bedroom door.

Last night Det Spt Rock said: 'He had all he needed, all he had to do was put it together.

'It could have been a matter of hours, it could have been a matter of days, but it was going to happen soon.'

He added: 'We cannot underestimate the significance the internet had on motivating and instructing Ibrahim in the last few months before his arrest.

'The internet had a massive influence on Ibrahim. He had been an educated and intelligent teenager, but was radicalised by preachers on the internet such as Omar Bakri and Abu Hamza.'

Muslim extremists jailed for arson attack on Mohammed book publisher's home

A fanatic who once paraded his baby in an 'I love Al Qaeda' hat was yesterday jailed for firebombing the home of the publisher of a novel about Mohammed.

Sentencing Ali Beheshti, 41, and two accomplices to four and a half years, Mrs Justice Rafferty told them: 'If you choose to live in this country, you live by its rules.'

'There is no such thing as "a la carte citizenship" and, in your case, there is no such thing as "a la carte obedience" to the law.'

Beheshti, a follower of hate cleric Abu Hamza, poured diesel through the letterbox of Martin Rynja's £2.5million house and set it alight to 'punish' him for agreeing to release The Jewel of Medina, a fictional account of the Prophet's child bride.

Beheshti achieved notoriety three years ago at a protest against Danish cartoons of Mohammed when he was photographed with his 18-month-old daughter, Farisa, whom he had dressed in a pink bonnet celebrating Al Qaeda.

Beheshti, who has a previous conviction for the attempted murder of his father, described her to reporters as the youngest member of the network.

Last September, with accomplices Abrar Mirza, 23, and Abbas Taj, 30, he attacked the five-storey home and office of Mr Rynja in Islington, North London.

Cab driver Taj of Forest Gate, East London, acted as the getaway driver as Beheshti and Mirza, a mobile phone salesman of Walthamstow, North East London, poured diesel into the house.

A small fire began but nobody was hurt because police and fire crews arrived in time to smash down the door and put it out.

The defendents used diesel as an accelerant, causing damage to the front door of the publisher's house

The arsonists were seized by armed police as they fled the scene in what officers described as an ' intelligenceled operation'.

Yesterday Andrew Hall QC, for Beheshti, said it was 'an act of protest born of the publication of a book felt by him and other Muslims to be disrespectful, provocative and offensive'.

Novel 'The Jewel of Medina' motivated the extremists to commit the arson attack

Before his arrest Beheshti lived with his family in Ilford, East London. He described himself as a pilot on Farisa's birth certificate.

Beheshti and Mirza had pleaded guilty to conspiracy to recklessly damage property and endanger life at a hearing in April. Taj was convicted of the same offence at Croydon Crown Court in May.

At a sentencing hearing yesterday Mrs Justice Rafferty, sitting at London's Royal Courts of Justice, praised Mr Rynja as a 'principled man' who had exercised critical judgment on a literary work, and stood up to be counted, knowing that publishing it put him at risk.

Mr Rynja's publishing company, Gibson Square Books, bought the rights to the novel after Random House dropped plans to publish it, fearing it could 'incite acts of violence'.

Miss Jones said her book was respectful to Islam, and Mr Rynja said last October that he felt its publication was part of a liberal democracy.

Before his arrest Beheshti lived with his family in a smart semi detached house in Ilford, east London, where a 2007 Mitsubishi 4x4 sits on the drive. He described himself as a pilot on Farisa's birth certificate.

His wife, Hannah, 28, is the daughter of a sales consultant for an engineering firm who grew up in a smart home in a Bristol suburb.

Beheshti and Mirza, a mobile phone salesman of Walthamstow, North East London, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to recklessly damage property and endanger life.

Cab driver Taj of Forest Gate, East London was convicted of the same offence at Croydon Crown Court in May .

They were sentenced at the Royal Courts of Justice for administrative reasons.

Abu Hamza still preaching hate in prison

Hook-handed cleric Abu Hamza is preaching hatefuelled sermons from his prison cell.

Dozens of inmates - many jailed for terror offences - have been gathering to listen in the cell next to where the Muslim extremist is being held at high-security Belmarsh Prison in SouthEast London.

Hamza shouts his message through piping which connects to the neighbouring cell.

The cleric, 50, was jailed five years ago for inciting racial hatred and murder during sermons and has been fighting extradition to the US.

A prison source said: "Unfortunately people have been lining up to hear what he has to say."

Three sons of the radical Muslim cleric Abu Hamza al-Masri face joining him in jail for their part in the theft of luxury cars worth £1 million.

They will be sentenced today at Southwark Crown Court after admitting their involvement with a gang that stole and then sold BMWs, Range Rovers and Mercedes across Europe.

They took cars that had been left for weeks in long-stay car parks and acquired new log books and keys using false documents, including passports. Other cars were stolen in domestic burglaries. Some were used as collateral for loans of more than £20,000, on which gang members then defaulted.

Hamza’s sons, Hamza Kamel, 22, and Mohammed Mostafa, 27, helped to run the two-year operation with the cleric’s stepson Mohssin Ghailam, 28. Read more ...

Press Release: Support for Jihad continues at former Abu Hamza Mosque

One of the trustees of the North London Central Mosque (aka Finsbury Park Mosque), Mohammed Sawalha, supports jihad in Israel and attacks against her allies. It has been reported that Mr. Sawalha was a signatory along with Muslim Council of Britain deputy director-general, Dr. Daud Abdullah, to a statement which supports jihad. However, his connections with the North London Central Mosque were not revealed.
