On March 10, 2009, members of a newly formed group called United Voices for America (UVA) traveled to Tallahassee for what was being called Muslim Day at the Capitol. The publicly stated goal of the organization was to lobby the Florida legislature on legitimate issues that affect all Floridians. However, when one looks at who is behind UVA, one can see that the group’s name and its mission were little more than a sinister ruse to gain a foothold within the government. Indeed, the group is nothing but another CAIR. On May 23, 2008, Ahmed Bedier announced on his radio show that he was leaving his position as the Executive Director of CAIR-Tampa and was creating a new group. This was less than two weeks prior to released reports stating that the U.S. Justice Department had named CAIR as a co-conspirator for an upcoming Texas Hamas financing trial. CAIR or the Council on American-Islamic Relations was founded, in June 1994, as being a part of Mousa Abu Marzook’s American Palestine Committee. Marzook at the time was the global head of Hamas, and the purpose of the committee was to raise funds for Hamas from U.S. shores. As this information was finally going to be made public, it was the perfect occasion for Bedier to leave CAIR. By ASSOCIATED PRESS The Hamas deputy chief said Monday his group is ready to resume talks with Egyptian officials in order to reach a prisoner exchange deal with Israel as soon as possible over the release of captured IDF soldier Gilad Schalit. Moussa Abu Marzouk told The Associated Press in an interview that Hamas "did not close and will not close the door until we release our prisoners from Israeli jails." Egyptian-brokered talks over a deal that would see Israel release hundreds of Palestinian prisoners in exchange for Schalit broke down last week. Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said early this week that Hamas' excessive demands prevented the deal and indicated he would turn the matter over to his successor, Binyamin Netanyahu. In October 2008, Moussa Abu Marzouq, deputy head of the Damascus-based political wing of Hamas, gave an interview to the Qatari daily Al-Raya in which he expressed surprise at the UAE's demand for sovereignty over the three islands Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb, and Abu Moussa, which have been in Iranian possession since the Shah's era. Abu Marzouq's statements sparked anger against Hamas; in one reaction, a columnist for the UAE daily, Al-IttihadMuhammad Khalfan Al-Sawafi, extrapolated from Abu Marzouq's statements that Hamas's claim to Palestinian territory could likewise be questioned, and that the agendas of Hamas and Iran were political rather than religious. Following are excerpts from Al-Sawafi's article: Hamas Is Selling Arab Territories out of Greed"…Mussa Abu Marzouq, deputy of the political wing of Hamas… expressed surprise that the UAE had set a deadline for restoring [to its sovereignty] the three islands that are currently under [Iranian] occupation, [i.e.] Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb, and Abu Moussa. [Marzouq's statement] raises questions regarding [Hamas's] demands to regain control over the occupied Palestinian territories. In addition, these statements can be [construed as] undeniable proof that the religious groups' and movements' loyalty to an external [element] is greater than their loyalty to their respective homelands. DALLAS – A turf war between competing U.S.-based Palestinian charities in 1994 was settled by Mousa Abu Marzook, a Hamas leader who serves as its deputy political director. In testimony Tuesday, jurors in the Hamas-support trial of five former officials at the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development (HLF) heard FBI recordings showing Marzook sided with the foundation over a Mississippi-based educational fund. HLF, prosecutors say, then became the designated fundraising arm for Hamas in the United States. The first attempt to settle the dispute between the Texas-based HLF and the Al Aqsa Education Fund first was handled by the Palestine Committee, a group created by the Muslim Brotherhood in the U.S. to help Hamas. It included HLF, the Islamic Association for Palestine (IAP) and a think tank called the United Association for Studies and Research (UASR). Marzook had personal and financial ties with all three entities. But Abdelhaleem Ashqar felt that HLF wasn't sending enough money to help the cause and arranged for Sheik Jamil Hamami, then a Hamas leader, to come to the U.S. in 1993 for fundraisers. HLF balked. Ashqar had an organization called the Al Aqsa Education Fund that was organizing Hamami's visit. Read more ...Source: IPT News
By Joe Kaufman The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) and its sister org, the North American Islamic Trust (NAIT), are attempting to have their names taken off the U.S. government’s list of “unindicted co-conspirators” for a Dallas Hamas fundraising trial that began almost one year ago. They are claiming that, because of the designation, the government has done harm to their relationship with law enforcement and interfaith groups. The following will show that the designation was a proper one and that, if any damage has been done to the groups’ relationships with others, they have only themselves to blame. On June 18, 2008, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) filed a legal challenge on behalf of ISNA and NAIT, stating that the two groups had been wronged when the U.S. government labeled them as “unindicted co-conspirators” for the 2007 trial which named leaders of the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development (HLF) as defendants. HLF, the former American Hamas financing wing, was founded in 1987 by Hamas operative Mousa Abu Marzook. According to the ACLU, “the government’s action... has caused each organization’s reputation and good name to be dragged through the mud,” and the government has the “obligation to correct the record and clear” their names. April 23, 2008 For Immediate Release Contact: Joe Kaufman ( info@americansagainsthate.org) AAH CALLS ON MAYOR OF PLANTATION, FL TO REMOVE CAIR REP FROM PRAYER BREAKFAST CAIR IS PART OF HAMAS, CAIR-FLORIDA SUPPORTS HAMAS (Coral Springs, FL) Americans Against Hate (AAH) is calling on the Mayor of Plantation, Florida, Rae Carole Armstrong, to disallow CAIR-Florida Executive Director Altaf Ali from participating in an upcoming prayer breakfast sponsored by the Mayor. The event, titled ‘Jerusalem: Symbol of Unity,’ is scheduled to take place on May 1, 2008, at Temple Kol Ami Emanu-El, in Plantation. Ali has been asked to give the invocation. AAH is concerned with CAIR’s association with Hamas and CAIR-Florida’s recent statements in support of Hamas. CAIR was named by the U.S. Justice Department as a co-conspirator for a Hamas financing trial that began in July of 2007. During the trial, CAIR was shown to have been part of Hamas leader Mousa Abu Marzook’s American Palestine Committee. Also part of the committee was CAIR’s parent organization, the Islamic Association for Palestine (IAP), which was shut down in 2005 after the group was found liable for the Hamas murder of an American teen, David Boim. On March 1, 2008, CAIR representative Jawhar “Joe” Badran was caught on video stating that “Hamas is not a terrorist organization.” Altaf Ali was standing next to Badran, when he said this. As well, Badran stated, “Hamas is a defender of the Palestinian people. That’s what Hamas is.” And “Hamas is better than Fatah, because there’s no corruption. Hamas takes care of the people.” AAH Chairman Joe Kaufman stated, “Being that CAIR is a part of Hamas, it is wrong for a government representative, as Mayor Armstrong is, to allow anyone from CAIR to participate in anything. As well, it is offensive for a CAIR rep to be involved in this, given the title of the event, as Hamas calls for the destruction of Israel and the murder of Jerusalem’s Jewish community.” Those concerned can contact Mayor Armstrong to respectfully voice their views. Joe Kaufman is available for interview. E-mail: mailto:info@americansagainsthate.org

On September 27, 2007, the head of the Michigan office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Michigan), Dawud Walid, was presented with a "special recognition" award by the Mayor of Lansing, Michigan, Virg Bernero. This took place only two months after Walid publicly defended two terror-related charities and during a federal trial against leaders of another terror charity, for which CAIR was named a co-conspirator.
Michigan is home to a significant radical Islamist community. One of its shining stars is an individual by the name of Dawud Walid. His activity within extremist Muslim groups is a matter of record.
First and foremost, Walid is involved with CAIR-Michigan, as the organization's Executive Director. CAIR recently was designated by the United States government as an "unindicted co-conspirator" for a federal trial that ran from July through October of 2007, which dealt with the financing of millions of dollars to Hamas. During the trial, the FBI provided testimony proving CAIR's involvement with the former head of Hamas, Mousa Abu Marzook, in his American Palestine Committee. Source: MIG News
By Joe Kaufman On Saturday, March 1st, the city of Fort Lauderdale will be playing host to two U.S. government named " Unindicted Co-Conspirators," the Islamic advocacy group CAIR and Brooklyn imam Siraj Wahhaj. The event will be taking place with the full knowledge of the city, while the citizens of Fort Lauderdale will be left in the dark, unaware of what their elected officials are allowing to operate in and fundraise in their town. CAIR or the Council on American-Islamic Relations was created in June of 1994 as a part of the Muslim Brotherhood's Palestine Committee, a quad of groups looking for ways to finance Hamas from the United States. The committee was headed by Mousa Abu Marzook, then the Political Bureau Chief of Hamas. Today, CAIR has over 30 offices based throughout the U.S. and Canada, one of them being CAIR-Florida. CAIR-Florda, like its parent and "Brother" organizations, holds annual events highlighting speakers well known to the radical Muslim community. The venue for this year’s affair, its 2008 South Florida Annual Fundraising Banquet, will be the Broward County Convention Center. The theme of the gathering is 'Let the Conversation Begin.' However, the real conversation should start with how and why an organization connected to Hamas would be given the go ahead to utilize a government owned facility for its event, especially when that group is using it to collect money.
