Islamist 'Trojan horse' in Pentagon, say experts
FBI: Top defense advisers linked to radical Muslim Brotherhood
Federal authorities say a high-level Muslim Pentagon aide, who led a campaign to silence a Pentagon intelligence analyst for taking a hard line against Islam, is running an "influence operation" on behalf of U.S. Muslim groups fronting for the radical Muslim Brotherhood.
Hesham H. Islam, a special assistant to Deputy Defense Secretary Gordon England, recently criticized Maj. Stephen Coughlin, one of the military's leading authorities on Islamic war doctrine, for making the connection between the religion of Islam and terrorism.
After Islam lodged complaints, Coughlin's contract with the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Pentagon was not renewed.
Islam also was upset with briefings Coughlin recently prepared for the U.S. military warning that major U.S. Muslim groups were fronting for the Muslim Brotherhood, a worldwide jihadist movement based in Egypt. Read more ...

"Let Lynne Stewart rot"
By Michelle Malkin
When we last caught up with the convicted, disbarred, disgraced jihad lawyer Lynne Stewart, she was preparing to teach a legal ethics class at Hofstra U.
The New York Post editorial board brings news that a three-judge panel met earlier this week to consider prosecutors’ requests to mete out a harsher sentence for her role in abetting her terrorist client and 1993 World Trade Center bombing/NY landmark bombing plot mastermind Omar Abdel-Rahman. She got 28 months. She could have received 30 years. Read more ...

The Candidate Who Can See the Enemy, Can Defeat It
By Dr. Walid Phares

The post 9/11 era has changed the rules of engagement for national security experts and for those who can read the mind of the Jihadists, when it comes to US Presidential elections. While the principle was that the counter Terrorism community should let the voters chose their candidates and select their chief executive first, then offer the expert advice to the President later, unfortunately for that principle, things have changed.
Indeed, since the attacks against New York and Washington and the engagement of the nation in the war with Jihadism since 2001, the selection of the US President can fundamentally affect the survival of the American People. Who would occupy the White House in 2009 will have to make decisions for four to eight years with cataclysmic consequences on the physical security and the freedom of 300 million citizens in this country and eventually on the free world as a whole: For the leader of the most powerful democracy in the world has to be able to know who the enemy is so that all resources are put into action. Short of this ability to be very clear and precise on the nature of the danger and the processes to address it, a next US President could cause a major disaster to this nation. American voters cannot afford to install a man or a woman who can't identify and define the enemy. If you can't see that enemy, you simply cannot defeat it. Read more ...

In War against Islamism, We Must Listen to the Words of Our Enemies
By M. Zuhdi Jasser

President George Bush delivered his last State of the Union address this week over a backdrop of the 2008 Presidential primary season. Eight years of the Bush doctrine in the misnamed "War on Terror" is being ushered out. Yet, neither the President nor any of his potential successors have been effectively challenged by the media, Congress, or the voters on the contest of ideas in this global "War on Terror." A review of the Presidential candidate websites demonstrates how little depth most candidates exhibit in their discussions of the central ideological conflicts in the "War on Terror." It remains an enigma how one of the most profound concerns on the minds of American voters in the 21st Century – fear of militant Islamist terror attacks – can be so obviously dismissed as we narrow the field of candidates in the next few weeks.
In the President’s SOTU address, he reaffirmed the Bush doctrine stating,
"We trust that people, when given the chance, will choose a future of freedom and peace." Read more ...

There Are Many 'Excuses' for Islamic Death Sentences
By Laina Farhat-Holzman

Source: Family Security Matters
An Afghan journalism student was sentenced to death for distributing an article about Islam and women's rights that "insulted" Islam. He was sentenced January 23rd by a three-judge panel in ultra-religious Mazar-e-Sharif because he distributed an Internet report to his fellow journalism students that asks why men can have four wives but women cannot have multiple husbands. No jokes are permitted in Islam.
• Insulting Islam. "Insulting" Islam has long been a good reason for executing someone in the Muslim world. Now that Muslims have spilled out into the Western world, there are many who would like to extend these death sentences to non-Muslims as well, such as Pope Benedict, Danish cartoonists, and an assortment of novelists.
• Insulting Warlords. Some people think that the real target of ire is not this student, but rather his brother, who has done some hard-hitting pieces outlining abuses by some powerful warlords. If the Karzai government does not intervene or the student does not secure asylum elsewhere, he will be the first of the three journalists executed in the six years since we ejected the Taliban in Afghanistan.
• Attending School. Another reason for a death sentence in Afghanistan is attending school. So far, in the southern (Taliban-infested) part of the country, there is an active campaign to close schools and force teenage boys to join the Islamic militia. In the past year, students driven out of school have increased from 200,000 to 300,000 while students and teachers killed have gone from 46 to 147. The most ferocious attacks have been on girls’ schools and their teachers, of course. Unless the international community (or NATO) does something about this, Afghanistan will once more decline to its miserable backwardness under the Taliban. Read more ...

Yet Another Troubling Terror Trial
By Joel Mowbray
Given that hard evidence is often scarce in trials of unsuccessful terrorists, federal prosecutors in Miami no doubt felt fortunate to be trying defendants who participated in a ceremony pledging allegiance to al Qaeda-which was captured on video.
The defendants took surveillance photos of government buildings. The leader of the cell admitted requesting from an apparent terrorist financier boots, uniforms, vehicles, machine guns and $50,000. Just in case the reason for the request was unclear, Narseal Batiste stated-on tape-that it was for creating an "Islamic army" to wage a "full ground war" and commit an attack that would be "as good or greater than 9/11," such as blowing up the Sears Tower.
It wasn't enough. They weren't convicted. Read more ...

The Wall Street "Sheikh-Up"
The stock market is undergoing a dizzying correction. The subprime mortgage mess has forced credit markets to dry up and has hammered U.S. securities. Fears of recession recently sparked one of the worst stock sell-offs in years. But the worst may be yet to come.
While Americans are selling their positions in U.S. companies, Middle Easterners flush with petrodollars are aggressively gobbling up these stocks at fire sale prices. Moreover, as American financial institutions report the losses that forced them to deplete their cash reserves, CEOs are begging for loans from oil-rich Middle East nations that have benefited from the rise in oil prices in recent years from $30 to nearly $100 per barrel. As one former Wall Street executive lamented, U.S. business leaders are "lining up to kiss the ring." Read more ...

As the head of The David Horowitz Freedom Center and Editor-in-Chief of Frontpagemag.com, I welcome the bipartisan "Libel Terrorism Protection Act" (A-9652 and S-6687), which was introduced two weeks ago in the New York Assembly and Senate by Assemblyman Rory Lancman (D) and Senator Dean Skelos (R). The bill was introduced to protect New York authors and publishers who expose terrorism and terrorist financiers from meritless defamation lawsuits filed in foreign courts.
A wealthy Saudi has now successfully silenced more than 40 authors and publishers, including many Americans, through threats and lawsuits in the U.K., which has notoriously plaintiff-friendly libel laws. Dr. Ehrenfeld, author of Funding Evil: How Terrorism is Financed and How to Stop It (http://www.acdemocracy.org) was sued by Saudi billionaire Khalid bin Mahfouz in a London court, despite the fact that the book was never published in England and neither Ehrenfeld nor bin Mahfouz reside there. Ehrenfeld refused to acknowledge the British court which ruled against her by default. The Court ordered large monetary damages, a "declaration of falsity" against the book, a demand for a public apology, an injunction against U.K. publication, and the destruction of the book. Jihad
By D. Hazan
A number of Islamist websites include special forums for women and for the Islamic family. A review of these forums reveals that over two-thirds of their participants are men, that their objective is essentially indoctrination, and that their principal concern is with issues such as encouraging women to carry out suicide operations - for example, by relating and extolling biographies and testaments of female martyrs in Islamic history and in modern times. These forums urge women to take an active part in jihad, or at least to support its fighters through financial contributions. They also promote jihad education from an early age, publicize various sheikhs' fatwas on jihad and martyrdom, and highlight the reward that awaits both male and female martyrs in Paradise. Abuse of U.S. Muslim Women Is Greater Than Reported, Advocacy Groups Say
By Julie Kirtz
WASHINGTON - Two months into an arranged marriage, Fozia Sadiq, a young Pakistani immigrant, found herself trapped in the suburbs of Dallas, Texas, with a violent husband.
She says he routinely beat her and intimidated her into never going anywhere in public without him.

A practicing Muslim, Sadiq finally escaped in 2006, during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
