Nineteen female Palestinian detainees have been released from an Israeli prison in return for a videotape of a soldier captured by Gaza fighters in June 2006. A 20th female prisoner will be released, probably next week, the office of Binyamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, has said. Al Jazeera's Nour Odeh, reporting from the occupied West Bank, said those freed on Friday were handed over to the Red Cross after their release from the Hasharon prison. Eighteen of the prisoners were released to the West Bank, and the other, Fatima al-Zeeq with her 18-month-old baby was returned to Gaza. "Today is like a huge party," said Nisrin Hamdan, 26, as she waited outside Ofer military camp with several of her children, all wearing T-shirts bearing a picture of their 60-year-old mother, held for assisting a suicide bomber. "My mother has been absent for seven years and today we will have her in our home." Also among those awaiting their loved ones was Nawal Hossein, 37, an aunt of a 22-year-old prisoner who was serving a 20-month sentence for plotting to become a suicide bomber.
Odeh said the one-minute video received in the exchange by Israeli officials was seen as proof of life for its captured soldier, Gilad Shalit. The video was sent directly to family members in northern Israel. An Israeli official who viewed the video said Shalit looked healthy and coherent. The exchange deal marks a breakthrough in nearly three years of Egyptian-brokered negotiations between Israel and Hamas over the soldier. German mediators joined the talks in July. Shalit was seized by fighters from Hamas and allied groups during a raid on an Israeli border base in 2006. Until Friday, the only signs of life from Shalit have been several letters and an audio recording. Only one of the letters - written three months after his capture - has been released, just last month. Hamas has not allowed the Red Cross to visit the soldier. Hamas is demanding that Israel release hundreds of prisoners, many of whom are serving lengthy sentences for attacks on Israelis, in exchange for the soldier. Currently, more than 9,000 Palestinian prisoners remain behind Israeli bars.
The Palestinian Liberation Organisation, the Palestinian Authority and Hamas all insist there can be no peace deal with Israel before all these prisoners are freed. Source: Al Jazeera (English)
KABUL — A homicide car bomber attacked an Italian military convoy on a road in Afghanistan's capital Thursday, killing six Italian soldiers and 10 Afghan civilians, officials said. The homicide bomber rammed his explosives-filled car into two Italian military vehicles about midday, Italian Defense Minister Ignazio La Russa said in Rome. He said six of those aboard were killed and four wounded. Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid claimed responsibility, saying in a text message that they had ordered had carried out the homicide attack against foreign forces. The explosion shattered windows in buildings about half a mile away and shook offices and homes throughout the central Afghan neighborhood that houses a number of embassies and military bases. Charred vehicles littered the area around the blast site -- a road just off a main traffic circle that leads to the airport. An Associated Press reporter saw at least six vehicles burned, including an Italian Humvee, and two burned bodies that were later covered with plastic sheets. Defense Ministry spokesman Gen. Mohammad Zahir Azimi said at least 10 Afghan civilians were killed and 52 wounded. Shopkeeper Feraudin Ansari said he felt the blast in his store about 50 yards from the site. Windows were broken in all the shops on the street. He said he was angry at NATO forces for patrolling in downtown areas. "Why are you patrolling inside the city? There is no Al Qaeda, no Taliban here," 25-year-old Ansari said. "My shop is destroyed and my head hurts from the blast." The explosion was the fourth major attack in the capital in five weeks. In the latest, a car bomb exploded Sept. 8 near the entrance to the military airport in Kabul in an attack on a NATO convoy, killing three civilians. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the blast. MINGORA, Pakistan — A homicide bomber killed at least 14 police recruits Sunday in Pakistan's Swat Valley in the deadliest attack since the army regained control over the northwestern valley from the Taliban, an official said. The blast in the yard of the main police station in Mingora, Swat's main town, came one day after the army said it had destroyed a major training camp for homicide bombers. It indicated the Taliban is still able to sow destruction and fear even though their hard-line Islamist rule in the valley is over. Members of a new community police force were training to patrol the region when the attacker sneaked up and detonated his explosives, provincial information minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain told local television Geo by telephone. Television footage showed officers gathering up mutilated bodies outside the police station, which had already been bombed twice before in recent months. At least 14 bodies of police volunteers in uniform were brought to the local hospital and eight wounded recruits were being treated, hospital official Ikram Khan told The Associated Press. Local police chief Idrees Khan said at least 20 were wounded and a dozen killed. Khan denied rumors that the attacker was in uniform and might have been one of the police volunteers. "No, we don't have any such report, but yes, a homicide bomber sneaked into the training for recruits," he told reporters at the scene in footage broadcast on local television. Muslims Against Sharia congratulate Taliban with the latest "work accident" and wish for many more happy occurrences in the immediate future.
By Phyllis Chesler Fancy that! Al Qaeda does not discriminate on the basis of gender or religion. They not only kill both men and women, Muslim and infidel alike, they also recruit men and women by raping them! Pink News, which bills itself as “Europe’s largest gay news,” outlet has just confirmed that al-Qaeda uses male rape as a tactic to recruit male human bombers in Algeria. We have just learned about a Sunni al-Qaeda related plot in Iraq in which terrorists raped eighty Muslim girls and women, then turned them over to Samira Jassim who patiently and persistently persuaded the rape victims, (many of whom had been targeted because they were depressed or mentally ill), to cleanse their shame by blowing themselves and other Muslims up. Twenty eight women did so. Read more ...Source: Pajamas Mediaal Qaeda Latest recipient of The Face of Evil Award

FOX 9 has learned DNA tests have confirmed Shirwa Ahmed was one of five suicide bombers who killed himself and 29 others last October in northern Somalia. He is also a Minnesotan and a naturalized U.S. citizen. The FBI helped return Ahmed's remains to his family. At a Twin Cities cemetery in Burnsville Wednesday afternoon, the suspected suicide bomber was laid to rest. Shirwa Ahmed, 27, was given a traditional Muslim burial. By Ben Goldby ALMOST a quarter of young Muslims support suicide bombings, according to a shock new poll on an internet website. Radicalised youths from the Midlands are among those to have posted messages backing terrorists on the www.ummah.com forum. One member had started the survey by asking users: “Do you agree with suicide bombings?” Of those who responded, an alarming 24 per cent said they supported suicide attacks like the 7/7 tube bombings in London and the 9/11 atrocity in America. One posting on the poll said: “I agree with suicide bombers. They should target Muslims too. They should also target those coward sleeping Muslims.” Another, calling himself Abu Mubarak, wrote: “I don’t particularly subscribe to the suicide bombings myself, if I were to go into battle, I would want to die in a blaze of gunfire, not by pushing a button. “I will not say it is suicide, nor condemn them, or say they are cowards, or the rest of that nonsense, because it is NOT suicide, it is a form of fighting that instils a great terror into the hearts of the koffar (non-believers).” Others argued that suicide bombings were unacceptable, with one contributor saying: “I don’t regard people who blow themselves up in market places packed with non-combatants as legitimate Mujahideen. Let's have quick look at a radical Islamic terrorist and see what we come up with. The immediate problem is that much of our understanding of terrorism is derived from the official statements of the leaders who play up ideological and spiritual claims. It is rare for our ways of thinking about terrorists to be informed by direct contact with them. Where we can see them for what they actually are. They are often people with a poor understanding of what they are trying to achieve or the real consequences of their actions other than a general ideology. However, in spite of this a few basic characteristics can be inferred from their actions and this will lay a good groundwork for a better understanding of their basic beliefs. First of all they are all misogynists as witnessed by their attitude towards, and treatment of, women. They are also anti-Western, or more appropriately, traditionalists or anti-modern. They have a wish to retain or return to simpler times where things were black and white and their beliefs were not to be questioned. They are also extremely ego-centric in that they do not have the mental ability to understand that other people may have different opinions and beliefs from themselves. In other words; "It's my way, or the highway!"But, more than anything, the Islamic terrorist has an extreme inferiority complex with regards to the West, that is masked by grandiose plans and ambitions. I'm not sure what the medical term for this is but as I described in my book "The Plain Truth About God!" The decline of Islam has led down a road to where the modern Arab, for the most part, wonders how his faith and culture fits in with a rapidly changing world.
This is a far cry from originally belonging to one of the greatest cultures in the history of human kind.
One of the main problems with the Arab-Muslim religion of the Middle East today stems from outright religious intolerance combined with an insular culture that is still stuck in the tribal twelfth century!
It is a curious situation where on the one hand the average Arab confesses to overwhelming piety and subservience to Allah; while at the same time he looks with arrogance down on everyone else as being “infidels” and inferior.
This, combined with the rage average Arabs have against perceptions of them in the West as being nothing more than camel herders living somewhere in the middle ages, makes for a truly schizophrenic outlook on their part.
Just as Christianity was stuck in the Middle Ages for a long time, so the religion of Muhammad has, among certain groups, been stuck in the past.
It needs to be dragged into the modern age, kicking and screaming if need be!
One of the best examples of this can be seen in the recent practices of the Taliban in central Afghanistan.
They held a whole nation hostage to their religious zealousness and it took the intervention of outside forces to finally remove them.
Gone is a centuries old way of life as their governments and population are thrust unto the world stage.
Their religion and lifestyle has been given a millennium long drop kick from the eleventh to the twenty-first century.
The cultural shock alone has seriously disrupted the social order and fabric of their society.
Nevertheless, I would like to point out that Muslims themselves bear the most responsibility for the situation they are in right now.
When we look at the tensions between East and West in the light of day, religion is a handy way to rile the population against the “infidels” of the West.
The Imam's know this and it is a fear of Western ideals and culture, combined with jealousy of Western affluence that drives them into such fits of rage.
The Western influence is a direct threat to their authority, especially amongst the young!
Don’t forget that no matter what form of government a Middle East country has, outside of some large urban areas it is still largely controlled by the tribes and Imams!
By the end of the 1970’s America, Europe and various Arab regimes extended too many fundamentalist and extremist groups military, diplomatic, financial and logistical support for two main reasons.
The first was to deflect the attention of Muslims around the world from the anti-American, Iranian understanding of Islam that was being fostered by the clerics under the Ayatollah Khomeini.
The second was of course to reduce American casualties in trying to counter the U.S.S.R. incursions into Afghanistan.
Sponsored by petrodollars, all aggressive interpretations of Islam were published and abundantly distributed in the Muslim world.
This was accompanied by a vigorous publicity campaign assuring Muslims that this was the only right path and correct understanding of Islam.
Other interpretations quickly disappeared amongst the uneducated masses.
Religious and cultural tolerance was slowly eroded while fundamentalism was on the ascent.
However, literature and propaganda didn’t work alone amongst the frustrated Arab citizens living under totalitarian regimes for the better part of a century.
The extreme interpretations of Islam that were circulating provided them with a fascinating religion based Utopia.
A dream that the Imams were only too glad to foster and spread.
The truth of the matter is that Islam now enjoys the same sort of power over the masses as Christianity displayed a thousand years ago.
Why should the power structure of Islam give up any of their perks? It does not matter whether it is Al-Qaida, the Taliban, the clergy running Iran or the militants in Egypt and half a dozen other countries.
They all want to turn their little piece of Eden into an Islamic state.
In other words, a state that is run according to their own ideals, beliefs and benefit; and to hell with everyone else! Umm Anas was at the centre of a highly-staged event, but she was far from a cipherThere is a ceasefire in Gaza, but the BBC has found evidence of militant groups preparing for a return to violence. One group, Islamic Jihad, is training female suicide bombers.Middle East correspondent Paul Wood went to meet a Palestinian woman who has volunteered. The young, veiled woman was sitting quiet and still as the room bustled around her. The black flag of Islamic Jihad was pinned on the wall behind her and two Kalashnikovs were carefully placed in camera shot. Her husband, an Islamic Jihad fighter himself, tied on her "martyr's" headband. Umm Anas - not her real name - had just graduated from a programme to train female suicide bombers in Gaza. Our meeting was a highly-orchestrated propaganda event laid on by Islamic Jihad. It was almost theatre - and certainly Israel accuses the Palestinian leadership of manipulating young women like 18-year-old Umm Anas. Read more ... Source: BBC
Investigations conducted by security services with arrested terrorists and people involved in terror support networks, concluded that Al-Qaeda adopts many methods in view of recruiting new elements, including giving them inducements, financing their projects and even allocating them apartments. The same investigations revealed that terror groups usually appoint agents in different cities and villages, the mission of which is collecting as much information as possible about people targeted to be recruited later. The terror agents transfer the collected information to the commandment of the terror organization, which, in turn, make a comprehensive examination on the collected information, and select the right people. Yet, they would, either, be recruited to join suicide bombers squad, or join logistic support networks. Read more ...Source: El Khabar
