A Detailed Explanation of the Video:
On June 21st, I moderated a peaceful public debate between Mary Jo Sharp and Ehteshaam Gulam. After the debate, Nabeel, Mary Jo, and I went to the Dearborn Arab Festival, which had already become an open celebration of persecution against Christians. The festival organizers had declared that Christians could not distribute materials on the public sidewalks or street, and, when the matter was brought before the courts, the judge agreed that Christians could not freely distribute information during the festival. (Note: This decision has been defended in the media by claiming that the “no-distributing-materials” rule applied to everyone, and therefore wasn’t unfair to Christians. However, anyone who was at the festival knows that this is not true. People were walking up and down the sidewalks distributing pamphlets and brochures, right in front of security. The rule was only enforced against Christians, and therefore only the rights of Christians were violated.)
Muslim security guards (one of whom had “Hezbollah” tattooed down his forearm) took things a step further and wouldn’t even allow Christians to talk about their beliefs openly. Security guards also repeatedly entrapped Christians in an attempt to get us to violate the court order. Read more ...

Many have suggested to me that the court order against proselytizing at the festival was justified simply by asking how Christians would feel if they were having a festival and Muslims showed up to proselytize...
Well, I know how Christians would feel and respond, and it would be nothing like what has been revealed in this video! However the issue is not about feelings but rather the freedoms and rights of Americans.
FOR THE SAKE OF ARGUMENT let's establish additional facts. First this was an International ARAB Festival, NOT A MUSLIM FESTIVAL! Let us also establish that Christianity is historically a huge part of ARABIC history and culture. The "Holy Land" is filled with Christian sites. Remember too that war-torn Lebanon was once a beautiful Christian nation until Muslim factions aggressively took over. And those we call Chaldeans are Christian Arabs who make up a large percentage of the Arabic community in Michigan.
ALSO OF GREAT IMPORTANCE TO OUR UNDERSTANDING is that the group that was taken to court and forbidden to exercise their rights to the public sidewalks at the festival, is ARABIC CHRISTIAN PERSPECTIVES (ACP). Read it carefully ARABIC CHRISTIAN... I attend the festival each year and am familiar with ACP. Some of them are indeed Arabic, some former Muslims.
Important too, the young men who offer us this disturbing expose' on their experience in Dearborn are not members of ACP, though of course familiar.
And for the record, in all of its years of participation at the festival members of ACP have never been involved in any disturbance and have obeyed not only the laws of the land, but of courtesy and conscience in a loving outreach to Muslims. ACP leadership goes to great lengths to train their people in proper conduct.
The true reason that Arabic Christian Perspectives was targeted and taken to court is because they had in past years DISTRIBUTED FREE QUALITY GIFTS TO THOSE WHO HAVE HAPPILY ACCEPTED THEM! Gifts like DVDs on the life of Jesus, and the full Gospel of John in print. And further, ACP materials are clearly identified with the group's contact information to allow recipients to respond with questions/comments, and to request further materials.
This is what made ACP a visible target for those who fear freedom of exposure to such materials in their restricted community. It was not that there were proofs that ACP had ever caused "civic" problems or violated the law.
Of course it was this court order against Arabic Christian Perspectives that emboldened the hired security people and others to attack these young men and women who were video taping a legitimate inquiry at the table set up with a huge banner begging questions! "ISLAM, GOT QUESTIONS? WE HAVE ANSWERS."
Yes, this video is disturbing! As a Christian American I am concerned with how easily individual civil rights were cast aside by the court in regard to ACP in this incident. Also as American citizens Muslim men, women and children have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness as well as free exposure to the ideas of others. And if some object to this or do not appreciate these freedoms, they should live elsewhere as they please, not attempt to bring their oppression here!
Honestly I'm frightened by the aggression in the response by my Muslim neighbors in this video. It is telling, particularly with the presence and participation of the young Muslim males. Chills ran up my spine when while being harassed the man with the camera said, "This is America!" and a youthful shout returns "No Way!" Should we wonder how these boys are being conditioned by their parents and religious leaders in the mosques and Muslim schools?
Together with events worldwide, what may seem to some a minor incident in Dearborn, should be a foreboding alarm to all Americans!
