The resolution adopted by Muslim theologians representing the various schools of Islam at the All-India Anti-terrorism Conference organised by Darul Uloom, Deoband, 'denouncing' terrorism but condoning radical Islam's ghastly excesses, apart from remaining silent on Islamist terrorism in India which continues to extract a terrible price, is of a piece with the Observatory Report on Islamophobia released by the Organisation of Islamic Conference at its recent meeting in Dakar, Senegal. Profiles of American Islamofascists: The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR)
It offers a benign mission statement - "to enhance understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding." But a closer look at the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) raises a host of troubling questions about its history and purpose.Borne of an effort to scuttle hopes for a negotiated Middle East peace, CAIR was listed among organizations tied to the Muslim Brotherhood's American network. Its founders emerged from a separate Islamic organization that two courts have found played a supporting role for the terrorist group Hamas.
The Washington, D.C.-based organization purports to be a "leading advocate for justice and mutual understanding" and claims to speak for the majority of American Muslims. However, after a careful review of the history, activities, statements, and causes of and by CAIR, it seems that its primary goals are to silence and de-legitimize its critics and redefine what it means to be a moderate Muslim. And when it comes to U.S. efforts to crack down on terrorists and their financiers, CAIR takes an almost visceral stand in opposition. This has the effect of undermining the legitimate security-related concerns and campaigns of the United States and its allies. The Shoura Council last week defeated a proposal to adopt a law promoting respect for other religions and religious symbols. The proposal that would have had the blessings of the Arab League was opposed by 77 members and supported by 33.
In his reason for voting against the proposal, one member told Al-Watan newspaper that the negative effects might outweigh the positive ones as it would give legality to nonmonotheistic religions and consequently it would allow the building of houses of worship for those religions in Muslim countries.

The Bangladesh Man Islamists Cannot Silence

He fired the first salvo in 2003 and has been sticking his thumb in Islamist eyes ever since. Bangladeshi journalist Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury describes himself as a "Muslim Zionist." He is unabashedly pro-US, pro-Israel, and anti-Islamist. More importantly, he remains all of that from within the Muslim world, which he refuses to leave. I have fielded any number of asylum requests for him, and he declined them all. "Retreat is not in my vocabulary," he says, for he believes that if he were to leave his country, his credibility would be gone, and Islamists would claim victory; a satisfaction he refuses to give them. "Bangladesh is my country," he says. "Let the radicals leave!"
Since 2003, we have fought not only a battle of ideas but also a battle of wills with our adversaries; and the skirmishes never end. Shoaib has been imprisoned and tortured. He has been beaten, and Islamists bombed his newspaper before they and their cronies in the ruling party seized the premises. What if the United Nations' Human Rights Commission should find the gumption to issue a vigorous condemnation of some future terrorist act? The UN has made many allowances for over-zealousness on the part of Islam but there have been stirrings in the West of late. Theo van Gogh's murder did not cow Rooster Cogburn or Tom Tancredo - it angered them. There has been talk in some circles of Thomas Jefferson and Richard the Lion-Heart, to stand up for the First Amendment, for freedom of the press, for freedom of expression. Scary. On September 27, 2007, the head of the Michigan office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Michigan), Dawud Walid, was presented with a "special recognition" award by the Mayor of Lansing, Michigan, Virg Bernero. This took place only two months after Walid publicly defended two terror-related charities and during a federal trial against leaders of another terror charity, for which CAIR was named a co-conspirator.
Michigan is home to a significant radical Islamist community. One of its shining stars is an individual by the name of Dawud Walid. His activity within extremist Muslim groups is a matter of record.
First and foremost, Walid is involved with CAIR-Michigan, as the organization's Executive Director. CAIR recently was designated by the United States government as an "unindicted co-conspirator" for a federal trial that ran from July through October of 2007, which dealt with the financing of millions of dollars to Hamas. During the trial, the FBI provided testimony proving CAIR's involvement with the former head of Hamas, Mousa Abu Marzook, in his American Palestine Committee.

BAGHDAD - Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki pledged "no retreat" Thursday in the fight against Shiite militias in the southern city of Basra, as thousands of protesters demanded he resign over the crackdown and extremists fired rockets into the U.S.-protected Green Zone.
Shiite militia leader Muqtada al-Sadr called Thursday for a political solution to the burgeoning crisis and an end to the "shedding of Iraqi blood." But the statement, released by a close aide, stopped short of ordering his Mahdi Army militia to halt attacks on the Green Zone or stop fighting in Basra, Iraq's second-largest city.
In a sign of the deteriorating security, gunmen in Baghdad seized a high-profile government spokesman from his home in a Shiite neighborhood, killing three of his bodyguards and torching his house. In a bid to curb the violence, Iraq's military ordered vehicles and pedestrians off the streets of the capital until Sunday morning.
As Americans and Iraqis scrambled to cope with a newly violent Iraq, the State Department ordered all personnel at the U.S. Embassy not to leave reinforced structures because of continued incoming rocket or mortar fire from suspected Shiite extremists angry over the Basra crackdown. Read more ...

He has refused to acknowledge the basic tenet of the 1947 United Nations resolution calling for establishment of a Jewish state and an Arab state in the British Mandate territory west of the Jordan. McCain Supports Radical Muslims in Kosovo

If the media are on the lookout for gaffes by the presidential campaigns, they missed a big one on Wednesday, when Cindy McCain met with Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaci in Kosovo's capital Pristina, while her husband was giving a major foreign policy speech calling for "new foundations for a stable and enduring peace." Kosovo's declaration of independence, which McCain accepts and was implicitly recognized by Cindy McCain's visit to Pristina, is a major threat to global peace and security. It could spark a U.S. war with Russia.
It may be asking too much, however, for the media to cover a gaffe like this. The Kosovo policy is a bipartisan blunder. For the liberal media, Iraq, where McCain differs with Hillary and Obama about the length of stay of the U.S. military, seems to be the only foreign policy issue worth talking about. But the U.S. faces other major problems.
We need to recall that the war against the former Yugoslavia was depicted by the liberal media as a worthwhile humanitarian intervention. But it was waged on the basis of Clinton Administration lies of a "genocide" being waged against Albanian Muslims in Kosovo, a province of Serbia. In fact, the Clinton Administration's NATO war against Yugoslavia probably cost more lives than were lost in the civil war in Kosovo. Serbian troops were forced to withdraw in exchange for an international guarantee that Serbia would retain sovereignty over Kosovo but the province would get substantial autonomy. The U.S. agreed to that, but that agreement was violated when the Bush Administration, with backing from McCain and Democratic presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, recently recognized Kosovo's declaration of independence from Serbia. Indictment Ties U.S. Citizen to Hussein

Federal prosecutors charged a former Islamic charity official with working for ousted Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein's intelligence service, including helping to organize a visit to Baghdad for members of Congress.
Through an intermediary, the Iraqi intelligence service paid the delegation's $34,000 in expenses for the September 2002 trip that Muthanna al-Hanooti, an Iraqi-born American citizen, helped to organize, prosecutors said in court documents filed in U.S. District Court for Michigan's Eastern District.
Mr. al-Hanooti, the indictment says, acted as a U.S. contact for the Iraqi intelligence service, helping to identify members of Congress who might support Iraq's efforts to lift U.S. sanctions against Mr. Hussein's government.
The indictment doesn't identify the members of Congress who took the Iraq trip, and prosecutors don't suggest the members of Congress were aware of Mr. al-Hanooti's Iraq ties. Two congressional delegations made trips to Iraq in September 2002, aiming to help avert the war.
One in late September included then-Rep. David Bonior (D., Mich.), Rep. Mike Thompson (D., Calif.) and Rep. Jim McDermott (D., Wash.). Mr. Bonior couldn't be reached for comment. Rep. Thompson issued a statement saying the trip was approved by the State Department and sponsored by a group licensed by the Treasury Department. He added: "Obviously, had there been any question at all regarding the sponsor of the trip or the funding, I would not have participated."
Mike DeCesare, a spokesman for Rep. McDermott, said the congressman doesn't know Mr. al-Hanooti and doesn't recall meeting him. The congressman joined the trip at the invitation of a Seattle church group, which "wanted him to go to Iraq to see the plight of Iraqi children," Mr. DeCesare said.
An earlier visit in mid-September included Democratic Rep. Nick Rahall of West Virginia and former Democratic Sen. James Abourezk of South Dakota. The Institute for Public Accuracy, a public-policy and media think tank, paid all expenses for that trip, according to Norman Solomon, the institute's executive director.
Mr. Solomon says he organized and went on the trip and has never heard of Mr. al-Hanooti. Mr. Abourezk says he doesn't know Mr. al-Hanooti. Mr. Rahall's office said he wasn't available for comment.
Mr. al-Hanooti worked for the Life for Relief and Development charity, in Southfield, Mich., and also led a related political consulting group called Focus on American and Arab Interests and Relations, the indictment says.
Prosecutors said that in compensation for his work, including arranging the trip, the former Iraqi government paid Mr. al-Hanooti with a contract for two million barrels of oil.
James Thomas, Mr. al-Hanooti's lawyer, said his client pleaded not guilty and "plans to vigorously defend himself" against the charges.
A person who answered the phone at the offices of Life for Relief and Development said Mr. al-Hanooti no longer works with the organization and said officials who could comment weren't available. The consulting group, now called Focus on Advocacy & Advancement of International Relations, didn't return a call requesting comment.

The Netherlands is bracing for a new round of violence at home and against its embassies in the Middle East. The storm would be caused by "Fitna," a short film that is scheduled to be released this week. The film, which reportedly includes images of a Quran being burned, was produced by Geert Wilders, a member of the Dutch parliament and leader of the Freedom Party. Mr. Wilders has called for banning the Quran -- which he has compared to Hitler's "Mein Kampf" -- from the Netherlands.
After concern about the film led Mr. Wilders's Internet service provider to take down his Web site, Mr. Wilders issued a statement this week that he will personally distribute DVDs "On the Dam" if he has to. That may not be necessary, as the Czech National Party has reportedly agreed to host the video on its Web site.
Reasonable men in free societies regard Geert Wilders's anti-Muslim rhetoric, and films like "Fitna," as disrespectful of the religious sensitivities of members of the Islamic faith. But free societies also hold freedom of speech to be a fundamental human right. We don't silence, jail or kill people with whom we disagree just because their ideas are offensive or disturbing. We believe that when such ideas are openly debated, they sink of their own weight and attract few followers.
Our country allows fringe groups like the American Nazi Party to demonstrate, as long as they are peaceful. Americans are permitted to burn the national flag. In 1989, when so-called artist Andres Serrano displayed his work "Piss Christ" -- a photo of a crucifix immersed in a bottle of urine -- Americans protested peacefully and moved to cut off the federal funding that supported Mr. Serrano. There were no bombings of museums. No one was killed over this work that was deeply offensive to Christians.
Criticism of Islam, however, has led to violence and murder world-wide. Ayatollah Khomeini issued a fatwa calling for Muslims to kill Salman Rushdie over his 1988 book, "The Satanic Verses." Although Mr. Rushdie has survived, two people associated with the book were stabbed, one fatally. The 2005 Danish editorial cartoons lampooning the prophet Muhammad led to numerous deaths. Dutch director Theodoor van Gogh was killed in 2004, several months after he made the film "Submission," which described violence against women in Islamic societies. Ayaan Hirsi Ali, a former Dutch member of parliament who wrote the script for "Submission," received death threats over the film and fled the country for the United States.
The violence Dutch officials are anticipating now is part of a broad and determined effort by the radical jihadist movement to reject the basic values of modern civilization and replace them with an extreme form of Shariah. Shariah, the legal code of Islam, governed the Muslim world in medieval times and is used to varying degrees in many nations today, especially in Saudi Arabia.
Radical jihadists are prepared to use violence against individuals to stop them from exercising their free speech rights. In some countries, converting a Muslim to another faith is a crime punishable by death. While Muslim clerics are free to preach and proselytize in the West, some Muslim nations severely restrict or forbid other faiths to do so. In addition, moderate Muslims around the world have been deemed apostates and enemies by radical jihadists.
Radical jihadists believe representative government is un-Islamic, and urge Muslims who live in democracies not to exercise their right to vote. The reason is not hard to understand: When given a choice, most Muslims reject the extreme approach to Islam. This was recently demonstrated in Iraq's Anbar Province, which went from an al-Qaeda stronghold to an area supporting the U.S.-led coalition. This happened because the populace came to intensely dislike the fanatical ways of the radicals, which included cutting off fingers of anyone caught smoking a cigarette, 4 p.m. curfews, beatings and beheadings. There also were forced marriages between foreign-born al Qaeda fighters and local Sunni women.
There may be a direct relationship between the radical jihadists' opposition to democracy and their systematic abuse of women. Women have virtually no rights in this radical world: They must conceal themselves, cannot hold jobs, and have been subjected to honor killings. Would most women in Muslim countries vote for a candidate for public office who supported such oppressive rules?
Not all of these radicals are using violence to supplant democratic society with an extreme form of Shariah. Some in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Germany and Denmark are attempting to create parallel Islamic societies with separate courts for Muslims. According to recent press reports, British officials are investigating the cases of 30 British Muslim school-age girls who "disappeared" for probable forced marriages.
While efforts to create parallel Islamic societies have been mostly peaceful, they may actually be a jihadist "waiting game," based on the assumption that the Islamic populations of many European states will become the majority over the next 25-50 years due to higher Muslim birth rates and immigration.
What is particularly disturbing about these assaults against modern society is how the West has reacted with appeasement, willful ignorance, and a lack of journalistic criticism. Last year PBS tried to suppress "Islam vs. Islamists: Voices from the Muslim Center," a hard-hitting documentary that contained criticism of radical jihadists. Fortunately, Fox News agreed to air the film.
Even if the new Wilders film proves newsworthy, it is likely that few members of the Western media will air it, perhaps because they have been intimidated by radical jihadist threats. The only major U.S. newspaper to reprint any of the controversial 2005 Danish cartoons was Denver's Rocky Mountain News. You can be sure that if these cartoons had mocked Christianity or Judaism, major American newspapers would not have hesitated to print them.
European officials have been similarly cautious. A German court ruled last year that a German Muslim man had the right to beat his wife, as this was permitted under Shariah. Britain's Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams, stated last month that the implementation of some measure of Shariah in Britain was "unavoidable" and British Muslims should have the choice to use Shariah in marital and financial matters.
I do not defend the right of Geert Wilders to air his film because I agree with it. I expect I will not. (I have not yet seen the film). I defend the right of Mr. Wilders and the media to air this film because free speech is a fundamental right that is the foundation of modern society. Western governments and media outlets cannot allow themselves to be bullied into giving up this precious right due to threats of violence. We must not fool ourselves into believing that we can appease the radical jihadist movement by allowing them to set up parallel societies and separate legal systems, or by granting them special protection from criticism.
A central premise of the American experiment are these words from the Declaration of Independence: "All men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." There are similar statements in the U.S. Constitution, British Common Law, the Napoleonic Code and the U.N. Declaration of Human Rights. As a result, hundreds of millions in the U.S. and around the world enjoy freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, freedom of religion and many other rights.
These liberties have been won through centuries of debate, conflict and bloodshed. Radical jihadists want to sacrifice all we have learned by returning to a primitive and intolerant world. While modern society invites such radicals to peacefully exercise their faith, we cannot and will not sacrifice our fundamental freedoms.

Palestinian Who Masterminded 2002 Hotel Bombing Captured, Israeli Military Says
The Israeli military says it has captured the mastermind of the deadliest suicide bombing of the Palestinian uprising.
Omar Jabar had been on the run since the March 2002 bombing at a hotel in the Israeli city of Netanya.
In the attack, the bomber blew himself up during a dinner celebrating the Jewish holiday of Passover.
Thirty people were killed and nearly 150 were wounded. The attack sparked a large Israeli military operation in the West Bank.
The army says Jabar planned the attack and dispatched the bomber to the hotel. It says Jabar was arrested early Wednesday in the West Bank.

Some CAIR Officials Convicted of Crimes, More Tied to Extremist Groups

The questionable associations and actions by many of its leaders cast serious doubt on CAIR's claims of moderation and restraint. Some have committed criminal acts themselves; others have ties to organizations with connections to Islamic extremism.
Those convicted of direct criminal activity include Ghassan Elashi, a founding board member of CAIR-Texas; Randall (Ismail) Royer, once a communications specialist for the national group, and Bassam Khafagi, the organization's one-time director of community relations.
In the more egregious cases, the organization has tried to distance itself from the individuals, contorting both logic and the English language. As the IPT's series on CAIR's history and activities continues, we look at the suspect nature of these examples and others close to the organization.
Ghassan Elashi, who attended a 1993 Philadelphia meeting called by Hamas to discuss derailing U.S. peace initiatives, was convicted in 2004 on six criminal counts, including making false statements, conspiracy to violate the Export Administration Regulations and the Libyan Sanctions Regulations, and conspiracy to file false shipper's export declaration forms. He was a defendant again in the 2007 Hamas-support trial of the Holy Land Foundation (HLF), where jurors were unable to reach unanimous verdicts on the charges against him. Read more ...

U.S. vice-president Richard Cheney and Israeli prime minister Ehud Olmert met twice in Jerusalem this week in talks described as “shrouded in mystery.” The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office didn’t even issue a statement; Olmert’s spokesman only said that Cheney and Olmert “discussed a range of issues, including the peace process, terrorism and threats to regional security.”
“Threats to regional security”-sounds a lot like Iran. One hopes the two leaders’ talks had enough seriousness to offset Cheney’s standard inanities in his joint Ramallah press conference with Palestinian Authority president Mahmoud Abbas on Sunday.
At that event Cheney said that terrorism and rockets kill not only innocent civilians but also “the legitimate hopes and aspirations of the Palestinian people,” that the U.S. remained “strongly committed” to creating a Palestinian state that was “long overdue,” and that this would require “painful concessions on both sides.” Read more ...

D.C. Watson: Misunderstanders of Their "Peaceful" Faith
Here is an incomplete list of Muslims in the United States who have been arrested and/or convicted for either planning or acting out their "jihad" against unsuspecting, innocent men, women and children. Fury over plan to let imams teach the Koran in state schools
children to practise their faith
State schools must allow children to practise their faith by inviting in preachers such as imams and introducing prayer rooms and religious holidays, the country's biggest teaching union said yesterday.
They should make arrangements for pupils to be given "instruction" in their own religion during the normal school day and rights to pray and worship instead of attending regular assemblies, the National Union of Teachers said.
Schools should also allow different uniform rules, serve meals that meet religious requirements such as halal and kosher, plan holidays around festivals and special days and provide private prayer rooms.
The call comes as new research today shows the numbers attending mosques in England and Wales will outstrip Roman Catholic churchgoers by 2020.
Christian Research expects Catholic worshippers at Sunday Mass to fall to 679,000 but Muslims at Friday prayer to increase to 683,000. The figures also suggest the number of Muslims at mosques will overtake Church of England members at Sunday services.
Under today's radical plan from teachers' leaders, designed to overhaul faith-based education, the NUT called on ministers to abandon the historic daily act of Christian worship in favour of "inclusive" school assemblies.
Existing faith schools should be stripped of rights to select pupils on the basis of the religion they practise to prevent them "discriminating" against others and fuelling community tensions, the document said.

Italy: Islamist website attacks Vatican baptism
Rome, 26 March (AKI) - An Islamist website has condemned the controversial baptism of Italian Muslim journalist Magdi Allam and questioned the strength of his previous commitment to the Muslim faith.
The site, linked to the Islamist Hamas movement in the Palestinian territories says that Allam was nominally Muslim, and that he admitted to have never practised Islam and to have never prayed in his life.
The website also blasted the Western press for saying that Allam was "a prominent Muslim", and the "truth is that he was neither Muslim nor prominent."
"The problem lies in the vindictive atmosphere surrounding the conversion ceremony, including the anti-Islamic allusions and insinuations," says the article.
Allam was also quoted in a book that he wrote titled "Long Live Israel", saying that "the root of evil is innate in an Islam that is physiologically violent and historically conflictual." Read more ...

Why Do Palestinians Get Much More Attention than Tibetans?

The long-suffering Tibetans have been in the news. This happens perhaps once or twice a decade. In a more moral world, however, public opinion would be far more preoccupied with Tibetans than with Palestinians, would be as harsh on China as it is on Israel, and would be as fawning on Israel as it now is on China.
But, alas, the world is, as it has always been, a largely mean-spirited and morally insensitive place, where might is far more highly regarded than right.
Consider the facts: Tibet, at least 1,400 years old, is one of the world's oldest nations, has its own language, its own religion and even its own ethnicity. Over 1 million of its people have been killed by the Chinese, its culture has been systematically obliterated, 6,000 of its 6,200 monasteries have been looted and destroyed, and most of its monks have been tortured, murdered or exiled.
Palestinians have none of these characteristics. There has never been a Palestinian country, never been a Palestinian language, never been a Palestinian ethnicity, never been a Palestinian religion in any way distinct from Islam elsewhere. Indeed, "Palestinian" had always meant any individual living in the geographic area called Palestine. For most of the first half of the 20th century, "Palestinian" and "Palestine" almost always referred to the Jews of Palestine. The United Jewish Appeal, the worldwide Jewish charity that provided the nascent Jewish state with much of its money, was actually known as the United Palestine Appeal. Compared to Tibetans, few Palestinians have been killed, its culture has not been destroyed nor its mosques looted or plundered, and Palestinians have received billions of dollars from the international community. Dutch Broadcaster Caught in Islamist Propaganda Video
An update to this story about the shameless Dutch youth broadcaster 101TV who staged a video where a hired actress dropped her groceries on a busy street - first dressed casually, then dressed as a Muslim. The 101tv report showed people readily helping the non-burka wearing woman and ignoring the burka-clad Muslim.
Luckily for the free world, another camera crew from AT5 was in the area and filmed the 101tv filming. The AT5 video shows people quickly helping the Muslim woman and the 101tv crew telling the good Samaritans to "Please go through recording ... sorry ... but people leave". The clichéd admonition to "follow the money" gives a clear picture of the group's actual role as an enabler for organizations linked by the U.S. government to Islamic terrorism, prominently including the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development (HLF).
Indeed it shows a two-way flow of support both to and from HLF, which since has been named as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist Organization and indicted on charges of providing material support to Hamas. Our examination of CAIR focuses today on its finances.

Wafa Sultan appeared on Al-Jazeera again earlier this month, and the shock waves are still reverberating throughout the Islamic world. The day after her appearance Al-Jazeera issued a public apology for her "offensive" remarks, but did not specify what exactly she said that was so terrible. Last week, however, the influential Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi was not so circumspect. Qaradawi, whom Saudi-funded academic John Esposito has praised as a "reformist," in 2006 exhorted Muslims to fight against Israel by invoking the notorious genocidal hadith in which Muhammad says that on the Day of Judgment "even the stones and the trees will speak, with or without words, and say: 'Oh servant of Allah, oh Muslim, there's a Jew behind me, come and kill him.'" But now he has directed his rage against Sultan, a fifty-year-old Syrian-American psychologist: "She said unbearable, ghastly things that made my hair stand on end." Specifically, "she had the audacity to publicly curse Allah, His Prophet, the Koran, the history of Islam, and the Islamic nation." This morning, I received several messages from the YouTube "service-team" which stated that the videos featuring the documentary Islam, what the West needs to know (with my Dutch subtitles) were removed from my account, due to "inappropriate content" after they had been flagged by some users.
It can't be due to protests from the producers, because I got permission from Mr. Greg Davis to put the vid's with the Dutch subtitles on the YouTube channel.

If the plea sounds familiar, it ought to. Since the 1993 Oslo Accords, Americans have been subsidizing the activities of the P.A. to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars per year.
Today, as in the past, the arguments in favor of this policy are urgent. We are told by both administration officials who are friends of Israel and by some Israelis that unless we help fund the training and the payment of Palestinian security forces, the P.A. will have no way to cope with terrorists who want to sink any chance of a two-state solution which would enable Israel to live side-by-side with a peaceful Palestinian partner. Beat Up Western Tourists - Radical Muslim Cleric
I have said repeatedly on this blog that certain radical Islamic clergymen have a stranglehold on sections of the Muslim population and they won't give up their postitions of authority and power without a long and bloody fight!
This holds true in Indonesia as well as the Middle-East as witnessed by this Iman who is back to his old tricks!
Islamic cleric Abu Bakar Bashir has returned to his hardline rhetoric with a call for followers to beat up Western tourists and for young Muslims to die as martyrs.
“The youth movement here must aspire to a martyrdom death,” said the cleric, who was convicted of conspiracy over the 2002 Bali bombings that killed 202 people, including 88 Australians, but was later cleared and released from prison.
“The young must be first at the front line - don’t hide at the back. You must be at the front, die as martyrs and all your sins will be forgiven. This is how to achieve forgiveness.”
“Immediately after Abu Bakar Bashir was released from incarceration he was very cautious in spreading hatred,” said Rohan Gunaratna, head of the International Centre for Political Violence and Terrorism Research at Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University.
“The remarks show that Abu Bakar Bashir has gone back to the pre-incarceration period where he was in a very similar way urging JI members, encouraging JI members to move in the direction of violence, especially violence including terrorism.”
The cleric has warned of retribution should the Bali bombers be executed by firing squad.
Bashir likened non-Muslims to crawling animals. “Worms, snakes, maggots - those are animals that crawl. Take a look at Bali … those infidel tourists. They are naked.”
He called for signs to be erected across Indonesia warning tourists they were entering a Muslim area, and directing they cover up appropriately.
But in east Java, he urged the Islamist youth to “beat up” foreigners.
“God willing, there are none here,” Bashir said. “If there were infidels here, just beat them up. Do not tolerate them.”
Bashir has never sought to hide his support for the Mujahideen, or holy warriors, who seek to wage jihad and die as martyrs in defence of Islam. However, he has in the past been careful to distance himself from the Bali bombings, praising the bombers’ intention but not their method.
Dr Gunaratna said the radical nature of Bashir’s current sermons showed that Indonesia’s legal system was still not equipped to police terrorism.
“The very fact that Abu Bakar Bashir is spreading hatred and ideological extremism is testimony to the fact that Australia has failed in engagement with Indonesia to build a robust Indonesian counter-terrorism legislation,” Dr Gunaratna said.
Bashir’s address contained many direct challenges to Indonesian secularism.
The cleric urged his supporters to reject the laws of the nation’s parliament and said following state laws that contradicted Islamic Shariah law was an act of “blasphemy.”
“Don’t be scared if you are called a hardliner Muslim,” Bashir said. “It must be like that. We can’t follow human law that is in conflict with Allah’s law.” (In other words, if they are not Bashir's laws then they don't apply!)

“Immediately after Abu Bakar Bashir was released from incarceration he was very cautious in spreading hatred,” said Rohan Gunaratna, head of the International Centre for Political Violence and Terrorism Research at Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University.
“The remarks show that Abu Bakar Bashir has gone back to the pre-incarceration period where he was in a very similar way urging JI members, encouraging JI members to move in the direction of violence, especially violence including terrorism.”
The cleric has warned of retribution should the Bali bombers be executed by firing squad.
Bashir likened non-Muslims to crawling animals. “Worms, snakes, maggots - those are animals that crawl. Take a look at Bali … those infidel tourists. They are naked.”
He called for signs to be erected across Indonesia warning tourists they were entering a Muslim area, and directing they cover up appropriately.
But in east Java, he urged the Islamist youth to “beat up” foreigners.
“God willing, there are none here,” Bashir said. “If there were infidels here, just beat them up. Do not tolerate them.”
Bashir has never sought to hide his support for the Mujahideen, or holy warriors, who seek to wage jihad and die as martyrs in defence of Islam. However, he has in the past been careful to distance himself from the Bali bombings, praising the bombers’ intention but not their method.
Dr Gunaratna said the radical nature of Bashir’s current sermons showed that Indonesia’s legal system was still not equipped to police terrorism.
“The very fact that Abu Bakar Bashir is spreading hatred and ideological extremism is testimony to the fact that Australia has failed in engagement with Indonesia to build a robust Indonesian counter-terrorism legislation,” Dr Gunaratna said.Bashir’s address contained many direct challenges to Indonesian secularism.
The cleric urged his supporters to reject the laws of the nation’s parliament and said following state laws that contradicted Islamic Shariah law was an act of “blasphemy.”
“Don’t be scared if you are called a hardliner Muslim,” Bashir said. “It must be like that. We can’t follow human law that is in conflict with Allah’s law.” (In other words, if they are not Bashir's laws then they don't apply!)

Fatah's Embrace of Islamism
March 24, 2008 - San Francisco, CA - PipeLineNews.org - Many U.S. and European diplomats contrast Fatah's Palestinian nationalism with Hamas's Islamism. At a November 28, 2007 press conference, U.S. national security advisor Stephen Hadley praised Fatah leader Mahmoud Abbas and cited President George W. Bush's argument that "Hamas, Hezbollah, and Al-Qaeda [are] different faces of the same evil: a radical ideology seeking to impose its world-view throughout the Middle East and beyond." But, while Fatah, the core of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), may have its roots in the revolutionary, secular-oriented ideologies of the 1960s and 1970s, Islamist discourse is also integral to the movement. Indeed, even as Western diplomats seek to bolster Fatah's Abbas as an alternative to Hamas, they underestimate the degree to which Palestinian nationalism now intertwines itself with Islam. Since the 2000 Palestinian uprising, Fatah has fused national and religious symbols in order to use Islam as an instrument of mobilization.

In the 1970s, Fatah graphic art promoted the culture of armed struggle which was at the heart of Fatah's ideology. (See Figure 1.) Can a film save a country? Geert Wilders is betting that it can.
The courageous politician, a member of the Dutch Freedom Party, is currently locked in a battle against the jihadists who would overwhelm and Islamize his homeland. But as he stands in combat against the enemies of Holland's liberal, democratic society, a fifteen-minute film that no one has yet seen is one of his few weapons.
Scheduled for release before the end of March, the film is still a mystery. But one thing is certain: it will be explosive. Of the film, titled Fitna'(Chaos), Wilders has said that it would portray "the intolerant and fascistic character of the Koran." In an article in a Dutch newspaper, he explained that the fifteen-minute-long production would have a split screen that would show such things as a decapitation and a stoning on one side, while verses and sura from the Koran are read on the other. Wilders also wants the Koran banned, like Hitler's Mein Kampf, from his country. It is, he believes, a book of violence.
Not unexpectedly, Wilders's film has Europe's timid governments, especially that of the Netherlands, wringing their hands with worry and veering toward outright panic. NATO is concerned about attacks against its troops in Afghanistan, especially against Dutch troops serving there, and the Netherlands itself fears a terrorist attack at home or against its interests and nationals overseas. Dutch Filmmaker Faces Ongoing Difficulties In Releasing Movie For Public Viewing
Source: www.breitbart.comDutch MP Geert Wilders, after being unable to find a distributor for his anti-Islam film, has promised to put the movie on the Internet quickly, with April 1st as his projected deadline. However, now an American network provider has suspended Wilders' website after having received a number of complaints about the site.
The provider, Network Solutions, suspended the website today (Sunday) pending an investigation of the complaints and movie to see if the website conforms to its guidelines and to assure that there would be no violations of laws. Network Solutions' guidelines include banning material it deems harassing, hate propaganda, threatening, harmful, or "otherwise objectionable." The provider also expressed concerns about possible technical difficulties with providing the movie to online viewers, including "excessive use of services which shall impair the fair use of other Network Solutions customers".
Wilders' website ((www.fitnathemovie.com) has been advertizing the coming movie with the cover of a Koran on a black background with the text "Coming soon: Finta."
Geert Wilders is a far-right Dutch lawmaker who has been embroiled in controversy in his country for some time with regards to his anti-Islamic words, as well as for publicizing his movie plans, in spite of complaints from religious groups and warnings of violent, worldwide protests that the movie could cause. The 15-minute film he plans to release is one that attacks Islam and the Koran, claiming that it would show the Koran as a "fascist book." The proposed movie has already drawn complaints from several Muslim countries, including Pakistan, Indonesia, Egypt, Iran and Afghanistan.

No one has seen the film in its entirety yet but a Dutch paper which has seen some of the opening images from the film, said it shows the cover of the Koran and then images of "a decapitation in Iraq, a stoning in Iran and an execution in Saudi Arabia, where sharia (Islamic law) is applied".
Dutch officials have unsuccessfully urged him to drop the project, fearing a repeat of the violent protests that erupted in many countries when European newspapers printed cartoons mocking theProphet Mohammed.
Wilders has said that he will release the film "before April 1", posting it on the Internet because he cannot find a broadcaster willing to carry it.
Computer experts have warned that controversy surrounding the movie could cause network mayhem once it is put online, if too many people try to view it at the same time.
Wilders has repeatedly stated that the content of his film will not violate Dutch law.
On Friday a Dutch Muslim association filed a legal claim asking a court to appoint a panel of censors to view the film before it is aired in order to see if there is a reason to ban it.
The court is set to deliver its ruling next Friday but Wilders has said that he would try to release the film before than to avoid having to show it to censors.
Dutch film-maker and polemicist Theo Van Gogh was murdered by an Islamic extremist in Amsterdam in 2004 after he made a short film attacking Islam's treatment of women.
Forgive my naïveté as I submit this story to Muslims Against Sharia ... here I sit in the United States, a woman who today is celebrating the holiest of days for Christians, Easter. I am puzzled with all the violent protests over the Muhammed cartoons from last year, and now puzzled even more as a Dutchman attempts to air a movie he feels passionately about. He is even facing strict control from the Dutch government -- one of the most liberal in the world. And yet, as a Christian, I face a lot of attacks on Christianity. Hollywood loves to portray Christians as idiots, back-water hicks, and hypocritical dimwits while on the other hand frequently portraying Jesus Christ as a psychopath and/or homosexual in the attempt to promote the entertainment industry's agendas. Artists have portrayed some works that were quite blasphemous, such as the infamous "Piss Christ"-- a crucifix photographed in a glass filled with urine. But, there were no violent protests against such hate-filled, christophobic displays of "art."
On the flipside, I can worship freely. I am able to buy a Bible easily, attend church openly, wear a cross around my neck if I wish, or put some cliché bumpersticker on my car. I can practice my faith openly, and so can my Muslim and Jewish brethren. It's not a perfect system, but there is peace and freedom.We all know full well that with freedom comes responsibility. Giving people the right to choose, to live freely, is a very difficult and delicate balance. But, a free society is an open society, and an open society is a free society. And freedom must be closely guarded. I worry that, if Holland were to continue to cower and back down from the challenges to religious freedom and freedom of speech, the collapse of such a free society might have a domino effect on the rest of Europe ... and worldwide.

High-Profile Figure Under Threat Due To Conversion
Allam, who has been a fierce critic of Islamic extremism, a supporter of Israel, and a defender of the Pope when in 2006 the Pope described the Muslim faith as being violent, is now under protection of the police due to threats he has received. In fact, Allam's conversion was kept secret and not disclosed by the Vatican until an hour before the Easter eve service started.
Reuters reports that Allam, whom some have called the Italy's Salmon Rushdie, has been living in Italy for 35 years, and has said he was never a very devout Muslim. Still, his conversion to Christianity came as a surprise.
"What amazes me is the high profile the Vatican has given this conversion," Yaha Sergio Yahe Pallavicini, vice-president of the Italian Islamic Religious Community, told Reuters.

With the U.S. economy "obviously going through a tough time," America should welcome capital investments even from foreign sovereign wealth funds, President George W. Bush asserted on March 14, 2008 at New York's Economic Club.
"It's our money to begin with," he added, referring to roughly $95 trillion in OPEC holdings of U.S. dollars and investments accumulated largely through oil sales. Contending that we can "protect our people against investments that jeopardize our national security," Mr. Bush added, "Seems like we ought to let it come back." But President Bush is ignoring some basic principles of U.S. capitalism and democracy: personal and corporate ownership rights are nearly sacrosanct.

The Gaza Prison Camp

"Gaza conditions at '40-year low'" the BBC headlined last week. Rarely a week goes by without a politician or organization deploring the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip. But I do not hear anyone describe its root cause: 60 years of Arab policy aimed at maintaining Palestinians as stateless refugees in order to pressure Israel.
I lived in Gaza as a child in the 1950s when Egypt conducted guerrilla-style operations against Israel from Gaza, then under Egyptian control. My father commanded these operations, carried out by "fedayeen," (which means, "self sacrifice"). This became the frontline of Arab Jihad against Israel. My father was killed by Israel in a targeted assassination in 1956.
Today the Gaza Strip, now under the control of Hamas, has become the Gaza prison camp for 1.5 million Palestinians and continues to serve as the launching pad for attacks against Israeli citizens.
This is the legacy of the Arab world's Palestinian refugee policy, started 60 years ago, when the Arab League implemented special laws regarding Palestinians that all Arab countries had to abide by. Arab countries could not absorb Palestinians. Even if a Palestinian married a citizen of an Arab country, that Palestinian could not become a citizen of his or her spouse's country. A Palestinian can be born, live and die in an Arab country, but never gain its citizenship. Even now I receive e-mails from Palestinians telling me they cannot have a Syrian passport, for example, and must remain Palestinian even though they have never set foot in the West Bank or Gaza. Forcing the Palestinian identity on them is designed to perpetuate the Palestinian refugee status. "Mohammed Cat" cartoonist freed six months after getting one-month sentence
A BANGLADESH cartoonist jailed for allegedly insulting Muslims with a reference to the Prophet Mohammed has been released, court and prison officials said today.
Arifur Rahman, 23, was detained last September after the cartoon appeared in a weekly satirical magazine published by the mass-circulated Bengali daily Prothom Alo.
The sketch showed a small boy referring to his cat as "Mohammed cat", a reference a common practice where people put the name of the prophet before their own name.
Prosecutor Shahidul Haque Bhuiyan said a magistrates' court in the capital Dhaka ordered that proceedings be dropped after the complainant in the case repeatedly failed to turn up for hearings.
Press freedom body Reporters Without Borders had earlier called for Rahman's release saying the drawing was a joke about cultural customs.
"The play on words had no intention of attacking the prophet," the group said.

Saudi Arabia is to retrain its 40,000 prayer leaders - also known as imams - in an effort to counter militant Islam.
Details of the plan were revealed in the influential Saudi newspaper Al-Sharq al-Awsat.
The plan is part of a wider programme launched by the Saudi monarch a few years ago to encourage moderation and tolerance in Saudi society.

On February 13, 2008, Danish newspapers republished the cartoons of Islam's Prophet Muhammad that had led to protests in Muslim nations two years ago. The Danish newspapers said they decided to republish the cartoons in solidarity with the cartoonist Kurt Westergaard after an Islamist plot to kill him was uncovered. In this model, aspirations of Muslims are seen to be no different from the ones in any other religious community. It acknowledges the violent track record of Muslims and its probable origins in Islamic scriptures, but hopes that, as is the case with other ethnic groups and nations, over the passage of time, Muslims too will eventually overcome the hurdles to become a cohesive component of the global community. 42 1/2 Virgins!
Due to the recession and cutbacks in Paradise the availability of Virgins for the Islamic Martyrs has been reduced from 72 down to 42 1/2.
That works out to 42 regular Virgins and one midget!
As if that weren't bad enough, the pisser is that the Virgins are all "Retired Nuns!"
I don't know how this whole "Virgins for Martyrs" thing started but the very idea shows just how misogynistic and full of themselves the average Islamic extremist really is!
Sure, it's a good line to feed to some 16 or 17 year old country bumpkin, but the fact that somebody could dream this up and then actually have these kids believe them is beyond imagination.
And how did they get 72?
I think some old guy just pulled a number out of his hat or made it up on the fly and "Lo and Behold" it stuck!!! What's even worse is the poor kids that actually believe this shit.
I don't profess to know what the afterlife is like, or even IF there is an afterlife, but I can tell you with 100% certainty that there won't be no 72 Virgins waiting for me!
As a matter of fact, with my luck, it might just be my ex-wife!
Whatever the case, the Afterlife won't be anything like we imagine it, so if these kids do get to Paradise all these poor, misguided suicide bombers are in for one hell of a let down.
Or just plain Hell!

Clerics back death fatwa for writers
Riyadh: A group of Saudi clerics has come out in support of a colleague who issued a fatwa saying two writers deserve to die if they did not retract views that he said made them apostates.

WASHINGTON - President Bush on Wednesday authorized military assistance to Kosovo, which declared its independence from Serbia last month.

An arrest was made in the attack on the Rabbi at a train station in Brooklyn. Target the believers .......I wrote this after a Jewish emissary in Rhode Island had a molotov cocktail thrown into his home: If the Jews in America think they can divorce themselves from the merciless punishment of the second holocaust by turning their backs on Israel, they have a serious ass kicking coming. Mr. Ali Hussein was arrest and charged with "Aggravated Harassment in the 2nd Degree as a Hate Crime" at the scene and transported to the Hospital where it was determined that he has a fractured leg. He is still in the Hospital "Methodist" probably will be receiving a bedside arraignment. The 2nd person a Mr. Villarini has been identified as one of the people involved and has an outstanding warrant for 'Criminal Possession of marijuana" he is "known" to the department. However, he has not been arrested as of yet.
The 3rd person has not been identified as of yet.

A 25-year-old Israeli rabbi from Kfar Chabad, was attacked by a group of Arab men in Brooklyn, New York City, Tuesday evening. An 18-year-old Arab man grabbed the yarmulka (kippa) off Rabbi Oriah Ohana’s head at the 4th Avenue and 9th Street train station in the Park Slope section of Brooklyn, while his friends kicked and punched the victim and screamed "Allahu Akbar" (Arabic: Allah is Great). Rabbi Ohana chased the man who grabbed the yarmulka. The attacker ran out of the subway station and was hit by a passing car. The attacker’s friends then beat the rabbi, claiming he was the cause of their friend’s misfortune. They escaped before police arrived – abandoning their friend, whose broken legs precluded his escape. Police of the NYPD’s 78th Precinct are investigating the attack. According to Vos is Neias – a NY-area based Jewish news site - Police arrested the man hit by the car and requested an ambulance, but are “trying to brush off the crime as just teenagers who don't know what 'Allahu Akbar' means.” That Arabic declaration, meaning “Allah is great,” is often chanted by Muslims before or during terrorist attacks. It is also declared five times daily from muezzin as a call to prayer. Park Slope is considered a safe and well-to-do neighborhood. It has become home to many Jews.

I wrote yesterday about the attack on Canon Michael Ainsworth in his own east London churchyard by three 'Asian' youths. From the rather fuller stories about this incident in today's papers, it is clear that this is far from the first such attack in the area. Indeed, there appear to have been many attacks on vicars or churches by Muslims who are clearly intent on turning east London into a no-go area for Christians (and, given the stoning of the Jewish group visiting the area on Holocaust Remembrance Day, for Jews as well. The mosque in the picture, by the way, was once St Sophia cathedral which was converted into a mosque on the fall of Constantinople in 1453, the fate of innumerable churches under Islamic conquest). Obama Camp Rejects New Black Panther Party Endorsement, After Removing Web Posting
Barack Obama's campaign has rejected the support of the New Black Panther Party, after removing an endorsement by the group from its Web site Wednesday.
Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor issued a statement rejecting the Panther backing, and told FOXNews.com: "The page in question has been removed from our campaign Web site. It's our policy with any content generated by a group that advocates violence."
The blogosphere was buzzing Wednesday about whether his campaign planned to remove the Panther posting, just one day after the Illinois senator delivered a speech calling for improved race relations in America.
The New Black Panthers, who inherited their name from the Black Panther Party of the 1960s, had the page on the Obama campaign's public forums. The group's message said it is backing Obama because he "represents 'positive change' for all of America. Obama will stir the 'Melting Pot' into a better 'Molten America.'"

DHAKA (MARCH 18, 2008) At approximately 7:00pm, Dhaka time, members of Bangladesh's Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) stormed the office of anti-jihadist Muslim journalist, SALAH UDDIN SHOAIB CHOUDHURY. A para-military arm of the government, RAB is notorious for its crackdowns on dissidents and wholesale violations of human rights. They ordered all employees out of the newspaper and interrogated Shoaib , seizing his phones and not allowing him any communication with friends, family, or legal counsel. After more than an hour and a half, RAB claimed to find a controlled substance in Shoaib's desk--an allegation that Shoaib's friends and associates claim is impossible. His brother Sohail claims that any evidence had to be planted. Shoaib was blindfolded and taken a RAB interrogation center in Dhaka where his captors verbally abused him for hours, repeatedly calling him a "Zionist spy and agent of the Jews." The verbal assault, which included numerous threats, continued for another three hours until someone RAB described as a "high government official" telephoned and ordered them to release him. When Shoaib asked about the contrived drug charge, he was told that they would not pursue it.
That order followed some immediate and direct action from several quarters. Upon receiving the news about his brother, Sohail contacted Dr. Richard Benkin of Chicago. After the two discussed strategy, Sohail called the US Embassy, and the matter was reported to the charge d'affairs. Benkin contacted the office of Congressman Mark Kirk (R-IL) who has been Shoaib's long time champion in Congress. Kirk's staff, led by Andria Hoffman, set up a command center in his office, while Benkin contacted several other supportive members of Congress and Shoaib's international human rights attorney Irwin Cotler. Benkin then called the Bangladeshi Embassy and demanded that Shoaib be released unharmed immediately or there would be consequences. Soon thereafter, the embassy received telephone calls from several Congressional offices including Kirk's and those of Rep.Trent Franks (R-AZ), Rep. Allyson Schwartz (D-PA), Rep. Steven Rothman (D-NJ), and others.
Though Shoaib was released unharmed, the action represents a serious escalation of the government's harassment of the courageous journalist who now counts supporters on every continent save Antarctica. People in RAB custody have been known to "disappear," and RAB does not carry out actions such as today's without serious consequences. The raid could have been in response to several failed attmepts on the part of the government and radical Islamists to re-incarcerate Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury. And in my years of work on this case, I have learned that every government action is a probe of our resolve to continue the fight against injustice--a resolve several government officials have told me we do not have. And so we MUST respond.

"Dems seize on McCain's Iran gaffe," reports CNN's Political Ticker. CNN Ticker Producer Alexander Mooney reported, "Iran is predominately a Shiite country and is not aiding the Sunni dominated Al-Qaeda." Michael Cooper, of the New York Times, went into more detail, reporting that McCain said, "Well, it's common knowledge and has been reported in the media that Al Qaeda is going back into Iran and receiving training and are coming back into Iraq from Iran. That's well known. And it's unfortunate." Eventually, Sen. Joe Lieberman, who was standing beside him during the press conference, whispered a correction in his ear, prompting McCain to say, "I'm sorry, the Iranians are training extremists, not Al Qaeda. IRAN has freed a woman convicted of adultery who faced being stoned to death like her male partner whose execution by stoning last year caused international outrage, her lawyer said today.

Saudi 11-year-old marries 10-year-old cousin
RIYADH - An 11-year-old boy has married his 10-year-old cousin in the ultra-conservative Muslim kingdom of Saudi Arabia, a newspaper reported on Tuesday.
Mohammed al-Rashidi and his unidentified cousin will seal the marriage they contracted under the sharia laws of Islam and move in together after a ceremony to take place in the summer, Al-Shams newspaper said.

Iran: Parliament to discuss death penalty for converts who leave Islam
Tehran, 19 March (AKI) - In its first session since last week's general elections, the new Iranian parliament is expected to discuss a law that will condemn to death anyone who decides to leave the Muslim faith and convert to other religions.
The parliament, also known as the Majlis, will debate the new law which has been presented by the government of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
Under the proposed law, anyone who is born to Muslim parents and decides to convert to another faith, will face the death penalty.

There are two factions of the Chechen Resistance: one of them more or less democratic and the other Islamist. Recently, Chechnya had a constitutional crisis: the Islamists persuaded the then acting President, Dokka Umarov, to announce that the Chechens were joining the global jihad against all the infidels, not only Russia. Umarov also proclaimed himself to be the Amir of the 'Caucasus Amirate', of which Chechnya would be only a part.
The last democratically elected Chechen parliament said it did not recognize this decision, which amounted to Umarov's resignation as the president of the Chechen Republic. So the parliament assumed supreme power and formed the government led by Ahmed Zakayev, who has always been known as the most pro-Western of Chechen politicians. He is one of the veteran leaders of the Chechen Resistance and he is now the Prime Minister in exile of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria.

"Our people in Jerusalem are under an ethnic cleansing campaign. They are suffering from a series of decisions like tax hikes and construction prohibitions. [Palestinians] are facing a campaign of annihilation [by Israel]."
Those were the words of Mahmoud Abbas last week to the summit of Islamic countries in Dakar, Senegal. And what a crew it was; Iran’s president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad chimed in, using rhetoric about the same as that of Abbas, with "[Israel] just kills innocent women and children, but the UN Security Council stays silent." Sudanese genocide president Omar al-Bashir was there, too, among the roster of heavies.
For Abbas-given tremendous credit by the U.S. and Israeli governments as a man of peace-vilifying Israel before this crowd was like pouring oil on flames as he confirmed the world's darkest fantasies and designs about Israel. Nor is he on record as saying a single more conciliatory word about Israel, the "conflict," or resolving it.
Yet, asked about Abbas's reference to "annihilation," all State Department spokesman Sean McCormack could come out with was "we would not use that term to describe the situation. I think it's probably an example of some overheated political rhetoric." Read more ...

The study, "Discrimination and Intolerance in Iran's Textbooks," is the most comprehensive to date of Iran's textbooks, analyzing 95 compulsory textbooks for grades one to 11. The main author of the study, Saeed Paivandi, is a sociologist at Paris-8 University and one of the few Western scholars to specialize in Iran's post-revolutionary education system.

I have stated repeatedly that Muslims in the Middel-East, especially the Fundamentalists, are still living in the twlefth century.
Back in those old times the life expectancy was nowhere near what it is now and people got married at a much earlier age to start a family. (Usually just after puberty!)
Well, thing don't change much in Saudi Arabia and other countries in that part of the world.
No light has been shone on the dark ages over there for a long time.

“I invite all my classmates to do like me,” the boy said, adding that he wanted to “crown a love story through marriage.”
The schoolboy’s father, Muraizak al-Rashidi, told the newspaper he was busy sending out invitations for a summer celebration to seal the marriage.
(Dahim al-Jaber, the headmaster at Mohammed’s school, said marriage at such a young age was “inappropriate” but wished the couple a happy life together.)
This is once again, another good reason to do away with Sharia Law.
(To think there are actually some bleeding heart Liberals who wanted to impliment Sharia Law here in Ontario. Thankfully, saner heads prevailed!)

The Saudi Arabian Parliament Monday rejected a recommendation to adopt an international agreement that forbids insulting of religions, prophets and clerics, the Saudi daily Al-Watan reported.Now before you get too excited…read the next paragraph.
Seventy-seven members of parliament rejected the recommendation, claiming that if they adopted the agreement, they would have had to recognize the legitimacy of idolatrous religions, such as Buddhism.In other words, if infidels can’t criticize Islam, then Islam won't be able to criticize other infidel religions. In spite of some of the harsh words leveled at Arabs and Muslims in this chapter, we must not loose sight of the fact that this culture has given the world much throughout its history.
As well as the worlds second largest (and growing) religion it is also the ancestral home to the numerical and mathematical system that is now used throughout the world.
This culture has given us great literature and art as well as the birthplace of many of our theories on the human condition.
Given the Arabs love of logic and debate, the Human family has benefited enormously from their contributions to the humanities and sciences.
Sufism.
Even with the constraints placed upon Islam that give it a great inertia against any change, there are nonetheless great movements in the religion that have manifested itself in two very different ways.
The first of these, Sufism, can be described as the “mystic” version of Islam and its adherents refer to themselves as Sufis---people who see themselves on a spiritual journey toward God.
In order to guide spiritual travelers and to express the states of consciousness experienced on this journey, the Sufis have produced an enormously rich body of literature.
Suffice to say that the Sufi, while acknowledging they are on the pathway to God and will achieve oneness of spirit in Paradise, also believe that it is possible to become close to God in this life.
Furthermore, the attainment of the knowledge that comes in intimacy with God is the very purpose of creation---while the difficulties in following the path derive primarily from one’s self or ego.
(Sounds a lot like the Eastern Religions)
In other words, it can be said that if one is not recognizing or experiencing God’s “closeness” (or presence) the responsibility for this condition lies within.
Some of the effects of the dominance of the ego are that one may become overwhelmed by the need to gratify desires such as anger, lust, anxiety, boredom, regret, self pity, depression, and the many addictions that afflict us.
Hence, one of the emphases of Sufism is the struggle to overcome the dominance of one’s ego. A struggle that first and foremost involves choosing at each moment to remember and surrender actively to God— irrespective of whether the form in which God manifests is one of absence or presence, benevolence or severity.
The struggle with one’s own ego has been called the greater struggle or greater “Holy War” (al-jihad al-akbar) in contrast to the lesser struggle, “holy war” (al-jihad al-asghar), which is against injustice in this world.
The lesser struggle of Jihad is certainly against perceived injustices and oppression in the world, but the greater struggle is what Muhammad talked about whenever he officially declared a “Jihad!”
It was, in effect, a war against the “seven deadly sins.”
Numerous Muslim scholars have spoken favorably about Sufism while one of the criticisms often leveled at Sufis by their fellow Muslims is that they withdraw from social and political activity.
This is far from being true in Muslim central Asia, where in Chechnya for example,
Sufis were very active in fighting against Russian invaders.
Baha’i.
The regions (Middle East) distinction as being the birthplace of a great majority of humanities philosophical and religious endeavors means it should come as no surprise that there is another movement in the works today that could once again change the course of our spiritual development.
Here I am referring the advent of the Baha’i faith and its possible impact on future religious thought!
The practice of Baha’i has at its core some of the seeds of a religion that could one day unify all the “people of the book.”
Its philosophy is not only simple and elegant, but seems to have the fundamentals of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam within its framework.
It has the potential to become a world religion that is not driven by the old demons (pardon the pun) of the past!
It bears watching!

England's Lost Daughters

Fifteen-year-old Arab-British girl, Zana Muhsen, could not believe her ears. She thought it was a joke when she first heard it. After all, the visiting British schoolgirl had only met the boy for the first time that day in an isolated, Middle Eastern mountain village. Besides the fact the young tourist had no intention of marrying anyone, she was returning home shortly to family, friends and school.
But when the unwitting high school student realized the father of the "groom" had meant what he said, she suddenly felt short of breath, while her heart began to beat wildly. The pretty teenager could not comprehend what was happening, still unaware she was the victim of a cruel fate that befalls hundreds of innocent European and North American girls every year - a forced marriage. Caught in the Act

An effort by radical Islamists to smear terrorism expert Steven Emerson backfired last week when the allegations proved to be fabricated. An article entitled, "Paul Kendall: Did an 'Expert' on Terrorism Conspire With a Foreign Government to Violate the Constitutional Rights of American Muslims?," was posted on PR Newswire on March 4. It was based on copies of emails the author claimed to have reviewed. "These electronic communications prove that Steve Emerson, along with some anti-Muslim advocacy groups, worked directly with the public affairs office of the Israeli consulate in Boston to formulate the creation of a smear campaign intended to stop the construction of a new Islamic cultural center," the article claimed.
PR Newswire sought to corroborate the article's claims. But the emails say no such thing - out of dozens posted with the article, Steve Emerson is referenced in only two. In neither case is he shown in any communication with the Israeli consulate, communication which simply did not happen. The author of the article apparently did not respond to requests from PR Newswire for corroboration.
PR Newswire therefore issued a "Kill" order on the story at 12:33 p.m. on Friday, March 7, withdrawing the original press release. This was confirmed in an email and telephone call to Steve's attorney Richard Horowitz. WordPress.com also removed a blog containing the same report: "This blog has been archived or suspended for a violation of our Terms of Service." Read more ...

ACLU-MN opens investigation of Tarek Academy
After receiving complaints that Tarek ibn Ziyad Academy in Inver Grove Heights is violating the Establishment Clause the ACLU-MN sent a letter to the academy questioning their practices. In the letter that was sent the ACLU-MN questions some of their practices, including addressing allegations that the school sponsors prayer.
Teresa Nelson, an attorney for the ACLU of Minnesota, says "We currently do not have enough facts to state whether or not the school is in violation of the establishment clause. Algeria: Al-Qaeda attacks moderates
Algiers, 18 March (AKI) - Members of the al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb militant group in Algeria have reportedly attacked members of a moderate organisation opposed to its terrorist activities.
A report on Tuesday in the Algerian newspaper el-Khabar said an al-Qaeda militant carried out a raid against a mosque in the Algerian province of al-Wadi on Sunday night and killed two men while they prayed.

Terrorizing The Taliban
At least 16 people were killed when a missile struck a suspected militant compound in a lawless Pakistani tribal area on the Afghan border Sunday, residents and state television said.
Residents said they heard several blasts after several missiles fired from an unknown site hit the home of a local tribesman in a village near Wana, the main town in the tribal district of South Waziristan.
Foreigners linked with Taliban and Al-Qaeda militants were believed to be staying at the compound in Doog village, the residents said.
"Militants have cordoned the blast site and are taking out bodies from the rubble," one local tribesman told AFP.
"The missile has left only part of a boundary wall intact and turned the compound into a pile of debris," he said.
"Body parts were flung into the air and were lying in nearby farmlands," he added.
Pakistan's chief military spokesman major general Athar Abbas said that he had received reports about blasts, but had no details about casualties yet. Read more ...

The Arab Muslim.
The Islamic State, as it has come to be known, exists in the Middle East on the principal of obedience being due to God only and that Muslims reject the Western, secular idea of separation of church and state!
This is a nice trick fostered by the Islamic clergy to hold on to as much power as possible in spite of the emergence of democratic and populist movements in the world at large.
One of the greatest drawbacks to Islam is that it operates on the surface as being infallible, much as Christianity does.
Among Muslims however, it is acknowledged that the Prophet Muhammad left no actual interpretation of the Koran, but rather said it should be read and taken literally as the word of God. This means we have a Divine text that is adding to the confusion by being interpreted differently from scholar to scholar and person to person.
This interpretation by individuals depends on every one’s personal understanding, experience, social, political, and economic environment.
In fact, this happened almost exactly the same way among the early Christians.
In Islam, no one, not an individual dictator, an elected national body, or a scholar of religion, theoretically has the right to make any legislation that contradicts what is stated in the Koran or the Hadith of the Prophet.
If they do so, they are committing an act of grave Shirk, or “putting themselves in God’s place.”
Naturally, the clergy interprets and decides which part of the Koran they want the general population to use. They are also the ones that give guidance as to “what it really means.”
It is also one of the greatest con-jobs in history since anything that goes wrong or not according to their particular plan is obviously “God’s Will.”
(It is also the one of the main reasons that a Muslims will end every second sentence with the phrase “Insh-Allah” - or –“ God willing!” Being as pragmatic as they are, this puts the onus back on God for whatever happens and absolves them of being in “Shirk.”)
As a believer, a man (remember this is a male dominated organization that would put the Catholic Church to shame) can offer his own proposals for the renewal of his religion, so it is always open to change.
The sad truth of the matter is that in Islam, as in every other religion in the world, there are no shortages of people who try and put themselves in positions of influence and power. This, for the purpose of spreading their own version of reality amongst the masses.
Another one of the other great threats to the Islamic state comes from a source that has been kept in check for the last 1400 years. Of course, we are talking about the subjugation of women throughout the Muslim world.
Men are concerned that any loosening of the reins that keeps their females in a position of subservience will lead to an all out revolution by women.
They also stand to loose face amongst their Arab brothers and be referred to as un-manly for not being able to control their women!
In light of this, it is interesting to note that women enjoyed an almost equal position with men in Arab society before the coming of Islam.
This makes us wonder how much of the abolition of rights for women was a cultural phenomenon and how much can be attributed to a misogynistic group of men using religion to undermine a woman’s place in society.
We are not just pointing the finger at Muslim society here, since it is a fact that the Christian community has also done its fair share in the subjugation of women.
(After all, it was Jesus who championed the cause of women, only to have it put on the back burner again by Paul!)
It might seem a bit unfair to bring this subject up in the section on Islam but the Muslims are, for the moment, the greatest perpetrators of injustice to women, and since the matter must be addressed, it may as well be here.
As we saw earlier in this book, throughout history it has been the men who waged war, made laws, and generally ran things according to their outlook. That was fine when the men went hunting while women stayed back at the campsite or early settlements.
Over the centuries, however, we have seen a gradual shift in responsibilities and division of work, with females taking an ever more proactive role in society, as they should!
Men, by their very nature of being the hunter-gatherers, have always had the inclination to “shoot first and ask questions later.” This might have worked well in the past, but society is at a point now where the more reasoned and analytical approach employed by women might be a lot better for us in the long run.
The natural balance that the female mind gives to a male deserves to be listened to much more than it had been so far in history.
Remember, in the jahili culture of old, women used to mix freely with men. They used to dress in the same way as women in the secular societies now dress themselves. It was only after the advent of Islam that it became the custom for Arab women to spend most of their time at home, to cover their bodies, and be kept away from other men.
You will now find some people who tell you that the hijab (women’s Islamic dress) is an Arab custom, and not an Islamic requirement. Wrong!
Arab society was at one time much more enlightened than now and it is through the diligence of a few religious extremists through the centuries that the population has become narrow-minded in their world and cultural views.
This is one of the first things that have to be changed for women to take their rightful place in Arab society.
But then again-the difference between the wishing and the doing is great.

While Non-Interventionist ideology plays off the frustrations of some of the American public with America's handling of the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, it is the wrong answer to the confusion over global Jihad and Islamism. Two recently-released books by counterterrorism analysts offer a panacea of Non-Interventionism ideology: Michael Scheuer's "Marching Toward Hell - America and Islam After Iraq", and Marc Sageman's "Leaderless Jihad". The Non-Interventionist ideology represented by these authors does not critically examine the role of political Islamism in Islamist terrorism; therefore the authors conclude that an appeasement approach towards Islamism will improve American national security. Obama's Pastor: God Damn America, U.S. to Blame for 9/11

Sen. Barack Obama's pastor says blacks should not sing "God Bless America" but "God damn America."
The Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Obama's pastor for the last 20 years at the Trinity United Church of Christ on Chicago's south side, has a long history of what even Obama's campaign aides concede is "inflammatory rhetoric," including the assertion that the United States brought on the 9/11 attacks with its own "terrorism."
In a campaign appearance earlier this month, Sen. Obama said, "I don't think my church is actually particularly controversial." He said Rev. Wright "is like an old uncle who says things I don't always agree with," telling a Jewish group that everyone has someone like that in their family.
Rev. Wright married Obama and his wife Michelle, baptized their two daughters and is credited by Obama for the title of his book, "The Audacity of Hope."
An ABC News review of dozens of Rev. Wright's sermons, offered for sale by the church, found repeated denunciations of the U.S. based on what he described as his reading of the Gospels and the treatment of black Americans.
"The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law and then wants us to sing 'God Bless America.' No, no, no, God damn America, that's in the Bible for killing innocent people," he said in a 2003 sermon. "God damn America for treating our citizens as less than human. The British government announced Thursday that it was ending efforts to deport Mehdi Kazemi, a 19-year-old Iranian who has been studying in Britain - a move that should be applauded by human rights activists everywhere. Had he been forced to return to Iran, Kazemi would almost certainly have been executed there. Roger Roberts, one of eight members of the House of Lords who petitioned British Home Secretary Jacqui Smith to allow Kazemi to stay in Britain, declared: "There is no doubt that he will be persecuted and possibly face state- sanctioned murder if he is forced to return."

Iraqis remove some of the dead and wounded after a suicide bombing Monday in Karbala.
BAGHDAD - A female suicide bomber blew herself up Monday amid a group of Shiite worshippers near a mosque in Karbala, killing at least 39 people and wounding 54, officials said.
The worshippers were gathered at a cafe about a half mile from the Imam Hussein shrine, one of the holiest sites for Shiites.
"I was talking with a friend and eating bread a few meters away from the cafe and I suddenly heard a huge explosion and I was thrown to the floor. I saw smoke and bodies," said Mohammed Kadhem. Read more ...
