Investigate 'Muslim Mafia,' new petition tells Congress

'Where there's smoke, there's fire,' says longtime Arab television anchor

A former Arab news anchor–turned–national security advocate has created a petition demanding that the subjects of the new book "Muslim Mafia" be investigated.

"We call on the U.S. government to conduct an immediate and thorough investigation into the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) in the interest of national security," says the new petition by Brigitte Gabriel, who now runs the ACT! for America organization.

Gabriel covered news throughout Israel, Egypt, Syria, Jordan and Lebanon, and her work brought her into contact with British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, President George H.W. Bush and Israeli leaders Yitzhak Rabin, Shimon Peres and Ariel Sharon.

She moved to the United States in 1989 and founded a television production company as well as ACT! for America, which is dedicated to educating millions about the threat of radical Islam to world peace and national security.

Now her petition, which already has attracted thousands of signatures, demands:

• The U.S. Department of Justice share with each member of the U.S. Congress an executive summary of the findings that led them to name CAIR as a co-conspirator in a terrorism case.
  
  
• The House Sergeant at Arms work with all members of Congress and their top staff, particularly those members who sit on the House Judiciary, Homeland Security, and Intelligence Committees, to perform background checks on staff under their employ, considering evidence that CAIR has strategically worked to place staffers there.
  
  
• The U.S. Internal Revenue Service perform a full and thorough investigation into the business activities of CAIR, specifically their lobbying activities, to judge if they are in violation of their federal non-profit status as a 501(c)(3) organization.

Her points are similar to the demands of four members of Congress who were alarmed at the revelations in "Muslim Mafia," by Paul Sperry and David Gaubatz, which was based on an extended undercover operation at the organization that lobbies for Muslim interests but is considered by many in law enforcement to be a front group for terrorists.

Reps. Sue Myrick, R-N.C.; Trent Franks, R-Ariz.; John Shadegg, R-Ariz.; and Paul Broun, R-Ga., have called for an internal House investigation as well as for a review from the Department of Justice about CAIR's activities.

Gabriel is a member of the board of advisers of the Intelligence Summit, lectures on global terrorism and is author of New York Times best-sellers "Because They Hate: A Survivor of Islamic Terror Warns America" and "They Must Be Stopped: Why We Must Defeat Radical Islam and How We Can Do It."

Her petition declares, "It's time for a federal investigation of CAIR."

Open Letter to US President about the "Thruts" of his Cairo Speech, by Brigitte Gabriel

Dear Mr. President,

You face difficult challenges in matters such as achieving peace in the Middle East and protecting America from the threat of radical Islam and terrorism. These are challenges that have vexed past presidents, going as far back as our second president, John Adams. I have no doubt you appreciate both the gravity of these challenges and the enormous obstacles that exist to solving them.

I also have no doubt that you and your staff understood that, no matter what you said in your speech last Thursday in Cairo, there would be those who would take issue with you. That is always the case when attempting to solve problems that are as deep and emotionally-laden as these challenges are.

I am assuming it is your sincere hope that the approach you have chosen to take, as evidenced by what I’m sure was a carefully crafted speech, will ultimately prove successful. However, it pains me to say this sir, but, while you said in your speech that you are a “student of history,” it is abundantly clear that, in these matters, you do not know history and thus, as Santayana noted, you are doomed to repeat it. In doing so your efforts, however well-intentioned they may be, will not produce what you profess to hope they will produce.

A wise man once said that if you start with the wrong assumptions, no matter how logical your reasoning is, you will end up with the wrong conclusion. With all due respect Mr. President, you are starting with certain assumptions that are unsupported by history and an objective study of the ideology of political Islam.

You began in your speech by asserting that “tensions” exist between the United States and Muslims around the world, which, of course, is correct. Unfortunately, you then proceeded, incorrectly, to lay virtually all the blame for these tensions at the feet of America and the West. You blamed western colonialism, the Cold War, and even modernity and globalism.

A student of American history, who is not trying to reconstruct it to fit a modern politically correct narrative, would state that tensions between America and Muslims began with the unprovoked, four-decades long assault by the Muslim Barbary pirates against American shipping in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. I find it telling that you mentioned the Treaty of Tripoli in your speech but ignored the circumstances that led to it. That treaty was but one of numerous attempts by the United States to achieve peace with the jihadists of the Barbary Coast who were attacking our shipping and killing and enslaving our citizens and our soldiers – and who by their own admission were doing so to fulfill the call to jihad.

These jihadists were not acting to protest American foreign policy, which was decidedly isolationist, and there was no state of Israel to scapegoat. They were doing what countless Islamic jihadists have done throughout history – acting upon the hundreds of passages in the Qur’an and the Hadith that call upon faithful Muslims to kill, conquer or subjugate the infidel.
A student of world history would know that, for all the acknowledged evils of Western colonialism, these evils pale in comparison to the nearly 14 centuries of Islamic colonialism that began in Arabia under the leadership of Mohammed. The student of history would know that Islamic forces eradicated all Jewish and Christian presence from Arabia after Mohammed’s death, and then succeeded in conquering all of North Africa, most of the Middle East, much of Asia Minor, and significant portions of Europe and India – eventually creating an empire larger than Rome’s was at its peak.

The number of dead and enslaved during these many centuries of Islamic imperial conquest and colonialism have been estimated to total more than 300 million. What’s more, the wealth of many of the conquered nations and cultures was plundered by the Islamic conquerors, and millions of millions of non-Muslims who did survive were forced to pay onerous taxes, such as the “jizya,” a humiliation tax to the Islamic caliphs. Indeed, in some areas Christians and Jews were made to wear a receipt for the jizya around their neck as a mark of their dishonor.

These facts have not been invented by Christian or Jewish historical revisionists, but were chronicled by Muslim eyewitnesses throughout the past 14 centuries and are available to be researched by any person seeking an objective understanding of how Islam spread throughout the world.

You say in your speech that we must squarely face the tensions that exist between America and the Muslim world. That is a laudable notion with which I agree, but by casting Islam as the historical victim and the West (and by implication, America) as the aggressor, you do not face these tensions squarely, but alleviate the Muslim world from coming to grips with the jihadist ideology embedded in its holy books and acted upon for 1,400 years.

Even worse, you empower and embolden militant Islamists who regard your gestures as signs of weakness and capitulation.

The issue is not that all Muslims are terrorists or radicals or extremists. We all know that the majority of Muslims are not. We also know that many peace-loving Muslims are victims of Islamist violence.

The issue is this: what drives hundreds of millions of Muslims worldwide to call for the death of Jews?
What drives millions of Muslims to riot, destroy property, and take innocent lives in reaction to the Danish cartoons?
What drives tens of thousands of Muslims to demand the execution of a British teacher whose only “crime” was allowing her students to name their teddy bears “Mohammed”?
What drives countless Muslims worldwide to actively participate in, or fund, or provide nurture to, terrorist organizations?
What drives Muslims in mosques in America to proclaim and distribute materials that call for hatred of and the destruction of infidels?
What drives entire Islamic countries to prohibit the building of a Christian church or synagogue?

To assume, as you apparently do, that what drives these actions is not an ideology embedded in the holy books of Islam, but rather other “root causes,” most of which you lay at the feet of America and the West, is at best naïve and at worst dangerous.

Lastly, I must address your statement that “Islam has a proud tradition of tolerance.”

Unfortunately, the examples you gave are the exception rather than the rule.

Historically speaking, I seriously doubt the Egyptian Copts, the Lebanese Maronites, the Christians in Bethlehem, the Assyrians, the Hindus, the Jews, and many others who have been persecuted by Islamic violence and supremacism, would agree with your assertion.

For instance, Christians and Jews became “Dhimmis,” a second class group under Islam. Dhimmis were forced to wear distinctive clothing; it was Baghdad’s Caliph Al-Mutawakkil, in the ninth century, who designated a yellow badge for Jews under Islam, which Hitler copied and duplicated in Nazi Germany nearly a thousand years later.

I witnessed first-hand the “tolerance” of Islam when Islamists ravaged my country of birth, Lebanon, in the 1970’s, leaving widespread death and destruction in their wake. I saw how they re-paid the tolerance that Lebanese Christians extended toward them. My experience is not an isolated one. When you make an unfounded assertion about the “proud tradition” of tolerance in Islam, you do a great disservice to the hundreds of millions of non-Muslims who have been killed, maimed, enslaved, conquered, subjugated or displaced – in the cause of Islamic jihad.

Mr. President, those of us like me who are ringing the alarm in America about the threat of radical Islam would like nothing better than to peacefully co-exist with the Muslim world. Most Americans would like nothing better than to peacefully co-exist with the Muslim world. The obstacle to achieving this does not lie with us in America and the West. It lies with the hundreds of millions of Muslims worldwide, including many of their spiritual leaders, who take seriously the repeated calls to jihad in the Qur’an and the Hadith. Who regard “infidels” as inferior and worthy of conquering, subjugating and forcibly converting. Who support “cultural jihad” as a means to subvert non-Muslim societies from within. Who take seriously the admonitions throughout the Qur’an and the Hadith to convert the world to Islam – by force if necessary – and bring it under the rule of Allah.

Unless you are willing to courageously and honestly accept this, your aspirations for worldwide comity and peace in the Middle East are doomed to fail.

Degenerate Islamophobia vs. Common Sense

It is quite annoying to hear Islamofascist rants like "behead those who insult Islam" or "America deserved 9/11." It is just as annoying to hear Islamophobic rants like "kill the Muzzies" or "Nuke Mekkah." But it's twice as annoying when this kind of a sentiment emanates from public figures.

Muslims Against Sharia proudly consider ourselves to be members of anti-Islamist community. As Muslims, some of have a first-hand experience of living under Islamist oppression. And we know all too well what the stakes are in the fight with Islamofascism.

However, some anti-Islamists are so consumed by hatred, that Islamofascists do not present a large enough target for them; they hate all Muslims. They rationalize their hate by claiming that all Muslims are the same and there are no moderate Muslims. "Bill Warner, an Islamophobe from Florida (not to be confused with Bill Warner, the director of the Center for the Study of Political Islam) sums it up pretty well: "I (Bill Warner) totally agree with Debbie Schlussel , she hit the nail right on the head again, it is all a fraud, a Muslim fraud, there are no Moderate Muslims."

The good thing is that nobody really listens to Bill Warner, especially after he became a laughing stock when this self-proclaimed anti-Gihadist teamed up with CAIR lackey Jim Sutter and Islamofascist MT Akbar in a pathetic attempt to defame Khalim Massoud of MASH and Pamela Geller of Atlas Shrugs. The bad thing is that people listen to Debbie Schlussel. I used to listen to her too. Debbie has done some great work exposing government's ties with Islamofascists. Unfortunately, this is not all she has done.

Putting aside her tendency to defame other anti-Islamists who don't see eye-to-eye with Debbie (she regularly calls Steven Emerson, Brigitte Gabriel, John Loftus, and Walid Shoebat liars and frauds) or her tendency to think that she is the only true conservative diva (she nearly bit the head off one of her commenter's head, because she dared to say that Laura Ingraham is a conservative; Monica Crowley, according to Debbie, is a no-talent phony,) Debbie doesn't see any difference between Muslims and Islamofascist.

May 25, 2009 was a dark day for anti-Islamist Muslims. Dagestan's Deputy Mufti, Akhmed-khadzhi Tagayev was murdered, presumably by Wahhabi terrorists. Ahmed Tagaev was known for his anti-extremist stance. He has repeatedly written about problems of Islamic extremism in his articles in local media and online.

But Debbie doesn't see it that way. In her demented rant, "Your Day in "Religion of Peace" Intra-"Peacefulness"," Debbie writes: "Don't kid yourself and believe--as claimed by the Interfax news agency in this artic--that Tagayev, the Deputy Chief Mufti of Dagestan, was some sort of moderate merely because he opposed Wahhabist Islam and was shot by them. The guy was extremist as most Muslim clerics are, just not on the same extremist side as the Wahhabis are." I wonder how well she knew Ahmed Tagaev. I knew him, and he was no extremist. He was fighting extremists and he paid the ultimate price, but for Debbie he's just another dead Muslim. Shouldn't the thought that CAIR and ISNA are probably quietly rejoicing the death of their enemy at least give her a pause? I doubt that. For people like Debbie, the only good Muslim is a dead Muslim.

Commenting on "The Coordination Center of North Caucasus Muslims will soon hold a meeting, where it will raise the issue of how to protect Islamic clergy from extremists," Debbie writes: "Correction: Islamic clergy are extremists." Granted, vast majority of Islamic clergy in America are extremists. Extremists paid for by Wahhabi petrodollars. The same Wahhabi petrodollars that Ahmed Tagaev was fighting against. Would Debbie also characterize Sheikh Prof. Abdul Hadi Palazzi, an Islamic cleric who is more pro-Israel than most American Jews, as an extremist?

Suppose Debbie is seething with Islamophobia so much, she can't help herself, but rejoice every time a Muslim dies. But how about some common sense? Will attitude like hers make on-the-fence Muslims think, "hey, those anti-Islamists are not that bad, they are against Islamism, not against Muslims" or would they think, "Osama is right; they hate all Muslims and we have to defend ourselves"? Doesn't she understand that she may be doing more harm than good when it comes to the War on Terror? Or does she care as long as her self-righteousness is satisfied?

FP: I would like to talk to you today about ACT for America. It has become the largest grass roots movement in the United States focused on national security. Tell us the history of this organization and why it was founded.

Gabriel: Jamie, I founded ACT! for America 15 months ago because I realized that there was a void that needed to be filled. I had founded our educational foundation American Congress for Truth (ACT) in 2003 and quickly found that due to its tax status a 501c3, the organization is limited in what it can do in areas like lobbying.

I knew that if we were to really make a difference in our struggle against Islamofascism that we needed a strong, organized grassroots component. We needed to mobilize the masses to begin applying pressure on their elected official as well as corporations and create a force from the bottom up to influence policy. So I founded ACT for America. We launched it in Sept 2007, and in just 14 months we’ve grown to nearly 50,000 members and 230 local chapters nationwide.

We are rallying people around the world to rise up in defense of our Western civilization and way of life. We have launched ACT! Australia, ACT! Canada, ACT! Nigeria and we are talking to different people in 5 other countries about launching chapters there: Britain, Israel, New Zealand, France and Spain.

Brigitte Gabriel speaks to Mapping Shariah's evidence

Brigitte Gabriel: Hate preaching in mosques

While she does not mention the Mapping Shariah Project, she is pointing to the infiltration and teachings by Shariah faithful in mosques across the U.S.

Our Mapping Shariah Project has now mapped over 200 mosques. We intend to map all 1500 plus another 700 Muslim day schools, community centers and campus organizations.

Our first peer reviewed published report will be on the first 100 mosques randomly selected across the U.S.

Here's what we found:

-75% of the mosques are Shariah-adherent (on a scale of 1-10, they are 7 or higher).

-25% of the mosques were very low Shariah-adherent (1-2 on the scale).

This means that there is no middle ground. Once a mosque has gone RED, it goes all the way.

Moreover, we also found:

-The correlation between Shariah-adherence and the use of literature calling for violence against the infidel and apostate and Jihad was 0.9--an almost 1:1 relationship.

-In most mosques where this violent literature was found, the Imam actively encouraged our researcher posing as a new attendee to study this violent material.

What Is An "Islamophobe?"

For the past five years, I’ve been traveling the world in an effort to inform people about the threat of radical Islam. I have often been accused of “hate speech” and “Islamophobia.” The latest was in an article in the New York Times, where I was described not just as an “Islamophobe,” but a “radical Islamophobe.” This made me question what those terms really mean. What is the difference between “hate speech” and “free speech”? What is “Islamophobia” and who are the true “Islamophobes?”

“Hate speech” verses “free speech” is easy to define. All over the United States, so-called “progressive” individuals and groups berate the USA and Israel and in the process tell outrageous lies about both countries. That’s called “free speech.” When others, including me, tell the truth about the threat of radical Islam, that’s labeled “hate speech” by many of these “progressives.”

But what is “hate speech” and what is “Islamophobia”? When I describe the threat presented by radical Islam, I quote chapter and verse from the Koran and authoritative classical Islamic sources. When I describe the worldwide campaign of Islamist hate indoctrination against the West, and the mind-numbing mass violence committed and glorified by radical Islamists, I am relaying facts that have been published by print and electronic media outlets all over the world. FP: What inspired this book?

Gabriel: After writing my first book, “Because They Hate,” which tells my personal experiences facing Islamic terror and is a warning to people in the West, I realized that I must go even further defining the threat we face and follow up the warning with solutions and a call to action. “Because They Hate” paved the way and prepared readers for me to take the gloves off and really define in outright terms what we and all non-Muslims are really facing. Events following the first book dramatically enabled me substantiate the underlying motivation behind Islamic terror and Islamic goals and aspirations. A Radical Islamophobe?

Brigitte Gabriel is a provocative author and lecturer, a Lebanese-Christian who came to the United States after surviving the civil war that tore apart the land of her birth. She has made it her mission – one might say her crusade – to warn that radical Muslims, a term she defines as all practicing Muslims, are bent on taking over the West.

Gabriel has a new book coming out in a couple of weeks, “They Must Be Stopped.” Knowing her history, you don’t need to guess who “they” are. Gabriel believes that Muslims cannot serve loyally in the U.S. military, that interfaith dialogue is “nonsense,” and that the difference between the Arab world and Israel is “barbarism versus civilization.” The Muslim world will not be satisfied until all infidels are converted or eliminated, she has said.

Stephen Lee, the publicist at St. Martins Press for Gabriel’s new book, calls her views “extreme,” and I wouldn’t argue with that.

But more than 250 people have written to me in the past several days to protest a description of Gabriel in the Times Magazine as a “radical Islamophobe.” That description was in a brief introduction to an interview with Gabriel in Deborah Solomon’s “Questions For” column. The messages also complained about the headline over the interview – “The Crusader” – and some of the questions posed to Gabriel by Solomon.

Many, if not most, of the messages appear to be blog-inspired. Though written individually, they ask for the same things – that the headline and description be removed from The Times’s Web site and that Solomon publish an apology.

Lee, the publicist, told me, “We had no problems with the questions or the answers, as depicted in the piece.” He said it was “totally accurate” and that Solomon had gone over the edited transcript with Gabriel before it was published.

As for the terms “crusader” and “radical Islamophobe,” both strike me as fair descriptions in the context of a magazine feature that is supposed to be edgier than the news columns of the newspaper. Though much of the interview seemed comparatively mild, Gabriel showed a few of the rhetorical flashes that have made her such a controversial figure. Moderate Muslims, she said, “at this point are truly irrelevant.” Public foot baths for Muslim students at American universities are “the way they are taking over the West. They are doing it culturally, inch by inch. They don’t need to fire one bullet.”

It’s not hard to see how Gabriel’s experiences might have shaped her views. She has said that radical Muslim fighters destroyed her town in Lebanon, terrorized her family and nearly killed her. She said she was forced to live for seven years in a bomb shelter. In this country, Gabriel formed American Congress for Truth (ACT) to warn against the threat of fundamentalist Islam. If she isn’t a woman on a crusade, in the modern sense of that word, I don’t know who would be.

One person who wrote to me said that Gabriel “is not opposed to Islam in any way, just against the terrifying Islam extremism.” But that isn’t really correct. A blog on The Australian Jewish News quoted Gabriel as saying last year, “Every practicing Muslim is a radical Muslim.”

I’ve had my issues with Solomon in the past, but I don’t think she or her editors have done anything here requiring an apology or any other corrective action.

Pakistan in Agony: What Follows Could Be Important for America

Harvard- and Oxford-educated Benazir Bhutto, who twice served Pakistan as its Prime Minister, was assassinated yesterday by Taliban and al Qaeda supporters in a spectacularly violent act in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. This act threw the country into a spasm of violence on the eve of national elections planned for January 8th. The agony of Pakistan splattered across the small screen was palpable, as was the transformation of Bhutto into a martyr for democracy in the world’s media. That was reflected in comments from leaders in the US, France, India, Russia and even Iran.

The lurking danger in Pakistan is that the former Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif, who was also the subject of a failed assassination attempt, has some skeletons in his closet. He tried to befriend bin Laden as a means of co-opting Al Qaeda. Further, he is allied with Islamist elements in the Pakistani government intelligence service, the ISI, which might facilitate a Taliban-like takeover. It was the late Ms. Bhutto who in recent correspondence accused the ISI of trying to assassinate her.

The prospect of a Taliban-like takeover is daunting. Pakistan is acknowledged to have 60 nuclear heads, developed by the infamous Dr. A.Q. Khan, presently under house arrest. He also facilitated transfer of key nuclear technology to Iran from Pakistan. The fear is that the only bastion of opposition to the Islamists may collapse the largely secular Army of Pakistan. Without that bastion, the country might become another Islamic Republic akin to that in Shia-dominated Iran. Read more ...
